1 - (03/14) Starting my new seeds, my other order for the Barney's never came in the mail. Must be "lost"... Decided to go get something semi locally. Picked up 2 strains and got the free Early Miss as well. Germination has started as of 03/13, paper towel transfer at 03/14 (approximately 16 hours later). Tent is sanitized and the new LED I'll be running is almost here. (Decided to wait on the full spectrum) Following guidelines as per Crop Kings recommendation for germination. We'll see in the next 48 how well they have developed under the paper towel. This plant will be grown alongside the Early Miss and quite possibly the GSC from Sun West Genetics as well. The GSC and EM will have separate diaries, so be sure to check those out as well! This grown will be done in the Indo 4*2*5 tent. Happy growing! 2 - 03/16 - Looks like a good start to the germination. 48 hours after they were dumped from the glasses. Waiting for those t roots to get a bit bigger yet. 3 - 03/17 - 72 Hours later, forgot to get in the tent and remoisten the paper towels last night, just got up at 4am and they were pretty dry. Tap root looks to have lost some moisture, I'm just hoping I didn't already fuck them up this time. Shouldn't have drank so much on my 30th. Happy Saint Patrick's day to y'all! Hopefully they suck up some water and bounce back by midday. Going to put them in jiffys or rock cubes tomorrow. 4 - 03/18 - Planted in their first pots. Due to the nature of my last grow, I've decided to start the other 2 girls in a jiffy. Placed the jiffy into a smaller pot (approx. .25g?) That is filled with my Mo Koko, gia green organics 4-4-4 all purpose, 40% worm castings and a higher 60-70% perlite ratio. I plan on testing the runoff from the pots and the Early Miss is in a felt pot, so I figured it would be a great idea to accommodate for the additional moisture those felt ones hang onto. Probably going to uproot the EM tonight and transfer it to a jiffy as well then get it into a plastic pot. (Edit - decided against it) I'm going to run two 3 gallon pot sizes for both of my autos and eventually upsize to a 5 gallon for the GSC PP. Going to get some nicer domes today. Getting pumped. Almost through the germination process and onto Day 1 of Veg. 😎 Video update later today! 5 - 03/19 - All the girls are popping up out of the soil and should shed the seedling casings within 24hrs. Off to a much better start! The EM somehow came out, big surprise to see it. Not as pronounced as the other girls, but nonetheless. Stoked. Ended my day by them officially being in Veg Day 1. 6 - 03/20 - Well yesterday was officially day 1 of week 1 in Veg and as of this morning all 3 girls look great. Definitely feeling more confident this time through. 7 - 03/23 - Made some adjustments to the diary, measured the girls and corrected my Veg days. Moving forward, I'll do week to week updates on the girls and daily pictures of growth progress. 8 - 03/26 - Day 7 for all the girls. CC is definitely on the weakest link list. The EM has shocked me entirely. GSC is progressing as I figured she should. Today I am finally going to scoop my new light. So stoked 🙌 Girls get to go into week 2 with a heavy adjustment on their total wattage. I'll update later this evening with a photo update and video of the new light and the girls. How did you create/breed Freakshow? A. Methodical selection, line breeding, and culling is the short answer. Read our About page for more details. Q. Is it an indoor or outdoor type? A. Everything I've ever worked has been outdoors, including of course Freakshow. It has been our experience that outdoor (or sun grown, as it's recently being referred to) cultivars seem to perform extremely well under artificial conditions. This is true of seed starts or clones made from seed starts. The opposite is not always true; indoor clones often give an outdoor grower headaches because they don't always make the transition smoothly. This is due to light spectrum, temperature, and/or photoperiod changes. The different parallel lines that we are developing can be directed in a few different pathways flavorwise. Q. Why are the seeds white? A. Why is the sky blue? No, the mature seeds are shrouded by a rice paper thin membrane which has coloring and mottling on it, but it's so fragile that it disintegrates in the process of shucking. Stripped of the outer layer the seeds are very pale, nearly white. It came as no surprise that this plant would have abnormal seeds. Q. Is it a GMO? A. Wow...? The exact heritage of any cultivar today is impossible to determine accurately. Also, considering the amount of continuous shameless hybridization that has occurred in the last 40 yrs., any modern kind could easily contain over 40 kinds. In the case of Freakshow, it's much more limited because the ancestry is largely older "Sativas" that didn't go through as much outcrossing. In the 70s in Santa Cruz, Haze was a favorite among surfers for the pure energy and I still have (greatly improved) stock of it around, simply because even when I made hybrids with it I always kept the original in pure form for obvious reasons. Q. What is the psychoactive effect like? A. Like the flavors, many people have commented that the "buzz" is somewhat different than other mainstream types out there. It's not entirely out of the scope of imagination that given that this strain has new alleles in so many other respects, that it could also contain new, unique cannabinoids, as well as new and unique terpenoids, some of which may not even be among the standard 16 or so that the average lab is testing for. Aside from the up, cerebral, energetic boost, some report a mild time/space warp effect. Creativity and idea induction should be mentioned, for sure. Freakshow has the pure energy effect and greatly alters perception to the positive side, so definitely destroys depression. Appetite suppression is a side effect, but the enjoyment of food is enhanced. I personally will attest to all of the above. We all have different receptor profiles, so these are just generalizations. And if anyone can attest to the extreme level of resistance it seems to have we'd love to hear about that as well. Q. Does it contain web-leaf genetics? A. I thought I better clarify this because there are a few people thinking that because of an article "Growing Marijuana that Doesn't look like Marijuana" that mentions that I had worked web-leaf types years ago and had eventually turned that into Freakshow. This is incorrect and I'm needing to get ahold of the writer to have him change it. When I read the piece and saw the mistake I figured it didn't matter that much, that the actual method of breeding could just remain a "trade secret". Recently, I noticed online that a posting, "Freakshow only exists because of duckfoot" by Curious Cannabis Connoisseur, where he explains how I developed Freakshow using Duckfoot. Let me explain, about 20 yrs. ago a friend gave me a jar of seeds labeled "BC Bigbud" and I sprouted flats of hundreds to look for oddities and had found one web-leaf pheno which we named Webster. It was a female so I bred it to a normal leaf male and began selecting and stabilizing a line of Webster. About 5 or 6 generations later I had nailed it to 100% webs and had also stabilized it for a deep purple color and a nice "gingerbread" terp profile. I was busy working other lines at that point so I put Webster in the library. Also, I was having a hell of a time getting a pheno of it that flowered to my satisfaction. (it seemed to finish with a limited number of calyxes). I knew I would have to outcross it to something with a big tasty bud and restabilize it for web-leaf, and I no longer had the original BC Bigbud. I still have the Webster seeds, and trust me the thought has crossed my mind to make the cross with Freakshow, but why? Why mess around crossing things just to create something even weirder? I have heard that the "Duckfoot" also doesn't bud up well so maybe there's a correlation there. Anyway, people can do what they want to and I will too, but crossing Freakshow with some low-THC crap like ABC is in my opinion idiotic. I worked extremely hard stabilizing and perfecting a beautiful new subspecies and I believe it should be kept pure. I won't go on a rant here about the rampant crossing and the lack of line-breeding in the cannabis world in the last several decades, or where this will eventually lead us, but I will say that it's not in a good direction. Bottom line....Freakshow has no web-leaf genes, it was made using top-grade tropical narrow-leaf drug (NLD) cultivars. Q.Why is Freakshow patented? A. Although I and most others (including all the folks at HSC) believe in and subscribe to the concept of "open sourcing" because sharing in cannabis genetics was always the cultural norm, it was decided that Freakshow should be protected (1) because it is a novel and unique, not a preexisting strain (or even subspecies), (2) To keep the greedy corporate big boys from exploiting it, (3) To maintain control of the genetic refinement of it in all future generations. March 7, 2019 update: These babies are doing great! I plan on transplanting 6 plants and moving them into the flowering room this weekend. As of right now my plan is to move 1 DinaMed CBD, 1 Medi Kush CBD and 4 Cherry Hemp plants into flower. I'm going to pick the largest/most developed plants for the move. Then I'll keep the rest in veg for another month, next month I'll pick the next 6. I'd like to get the plants on a monthly rotation so I can be harvesting monthly.

Was a pretty straightforward week. All explained in the Auto Kabul week .harvests done at the same time. .nothing different happened during this grow than auto kabul both took 8-10 days to dry.

30% indica, bagseed, amazing smell, berry, fruit punch. So sticky, beautifully cured. Was smoking immediately 2 days into jars.

Environment + Pests + Setup This week (at day 31) I decided to end the battle against fungus gnats. Even after almost three weeks of dried-out soil, dozens of adult insects could be seen, which told me that there were pockets of moisture that I coouldn't influence. Accordingly, I went back to the original plan I had outlined earlier: bring the system into balance and use sand and nematodes. Since I should no longer have any problems with low RH, I have also reactivated the exhaust fan, which lead to the values you can see above. Nutrients + Environment From the outset, the plants showed a slight nitrogen deficiency, which was evident in their rather pale, light green color. This is probably due to the fact that the substrate (until now) did not contain enough moisture to allow metabolic and decomposition processes to proceed efficiently. Directly after watering I got reassured that my choice was right and the soil still alive, healthy, and ready to 'get back to work': look at those springtails! Plants On day 30, I topped the plants. Both had already formed three nodes and started to develop healthy side branches at all of these nodes. So, according to my plan, I removed the main shoot, leaving enough space for the stump to encapsulate without damaging the healthy plant. I also removed one shoot from each of the middle nodes, as I don't want branches that already grow towards the center (the branches will grow towards the light anyway, and this way I can ensure that there is enough air circulation and room for expansion). I feel like the buds are to developed for me to be pruning off lower buds and makes me feel like i should have pruned beginning of week4 __________

We used a 200L rain catcher to brew feed using General Hydroponics. Worked well, we just needed to add some PH solution as it was slightly acidic. We definitely made a few mistakes when transplanting last week, next season we will be doing things alot differently in terms of homes so they don't have to get transplanted so often.

8/9/2018 - All of these girls are doing great and have all shown their white pistils now! The branching on them has taken off and they responded to being topped really well. I’ve switched them from my 4x4 grow tent into a 4x8. I have to say it is significantly better having the extra space to be able to water, move around and for better air circulation with multiple fans. I also believe this will greatly help with light penetration inventory they bush out. I’ve been having issues keeping the daytime air temperature down due to the extream heat wave we have been experiencing. I think I have tackled this issue by running the lights at night now while the temperatures are cooler. Tomorrow is the official switch to flower and will be on a 13 hours off, 11 hours on light cycle for the next 2 days. Then on a normal 12/12 light cycle. IVE read that this can help the plants switch quicker. I’m looking forward to seeing the growth over the next few weeks!

One of the plants grew massive! However the smoke wasn’t the best until a good 4 weeks cure. Very hairy buds too which was interesting 😂 Still a nice smoke

A lot going on this week!! Feeding 3 quarts every Sunday and Wednesday at this point. I did a light defoliation on Monday and did a more thorough defoliation on Friday! I opened up a lot of bud sights and it shows in the pics from late in the week!! I just turned the fan and carbon filter on. Temps are currently holding at 73-74F and the humidity is between 43-45%. I'm very happy with that! I hope to keep them both happy!! Enjoy!

We are officially in flower mode, folks! Switched to 12/12 for my photoperiod (the OG Glue), while the autos have already started pre flowering the week before. Got the scrog net set up to manage the incoming stretch, and plan to defoliate a bit the next week. Wasn't able to get a good picture for this week as I was out of town, so used a timelapse video instead.
