7/11/25 CRAZY! she's finally flowering

Total Days: 70 Flower: 31 Vege growth is stopped or very slow at this point. Might eke out another inch or two. I'll raise the lights as far as they can go soon (only 3-4" for the 650w light on right), but with the higher operating RH%, I've yet to see any pistil burn. The light cycle shift to accomodate the painters definitely stressed 2 plants. One was removed. The second i am retardedly going to keep. I stripped off lower weak buds that had the nanners. Pruned a few weak axilla, too. The nearby plant pistils are lily white, so it should be fine. The pistils will be changing color soon, so that will no longer be a good way to assess the risk going forward. Meh, I know it was caused by light stress, so any seeds not selfed I'll probably keep them. Overall, I'm relatively happy with development. Need to adjust some procedures in next cycle and maybe a few more tweaks in winter 2025-1. Second irrigation went well, but i did find a partially clogged emitter. Probably a plastic bit from hold-punching. With 8 emitters per pot, the overkill makes it irrelvant and the pot wasn't the slowest to finish. A few emitters has some roughly milled inlets. I'll inspect them all over the next couple weeks and replace some as needed. Just realized my new dehum was glowing in my tent the entire time. Luckily the display was facing away but now has a cardboard flap blocking it. If it was fine before, it's even safer now. Photons had to bounce of a wall and travel 5' before it could hit any plant. ----- Early update before end of week upday: So, I've been procrastinating replacing the irrigation setup. It's slowly gotten worse each year (3rd ongoing), but never had the dripper devolve into a dribble. I've been hand-watering 1 or 2 pots the last week or so. Replacing the mini sprinkler heads only fixed 1 of the problem-pots. Think the fittings are leaking on the one that did not improve. All the pvc is gone. All the 1/4" manifolds and tubing are gone. The per plant adjustable nonsense is the worst idea ever as all it does is cause pressure changes and endless tweaking of all the little sprinklers, because changing one impacts all the others, or a speck of dirt might cause a new imbalance that requires adjustments etc - Fucking nightmare of useless repetitive behaviour. Still have the 3/4" ID lead-in, heavy duty, 450psi graden hose with ball shut-off valve and pressure regulator. That is now connected to a 3/4" wye with two 1/2" irrigation tube adapters attached to each end. This forms a loop around the pots with a 1/2" tee per pot that leads to a gate shut-off valve and eight 2-gph pressure compensating emitters - 96 in total. Will do first test run on Sunday. The great thing is that this is all plug and play when I switch to injectors. That'll require some sort of pvc manifold and check valve at the utility tub, but otherwise just connect hose, and it's golden. That's the next step. I'll also re-incorporate the wifi-enabled solenoid valve at that point. Getting rid of the 55-gallon reservoir and pump would be nice. One less thing to maintain (rez) and less things that can break down (pump / powerhead). ------ Sunday Test Flawless first run. Time will tell if they are resistant to clogging, but optimistic at this point. 18psi operational pressure at the irrigation loop. Didn't even need the regulator. The mesh strainer at the pump intake doesn't have the typical, small air-bubble, so the last setup was letting a little air in. The last setup was fatally flawed. Pressure compensating emitters for the win. They didn't even squirt wildly as the air was expelled from empty tubing on first run. Took ~4mins or so. Some pots finished a bit sooner, but that's because they don't drink as much per 24 hours. I can live with that kind of waste. I'll get the timing down to reduce water usage even further. I don't need to wait for every pot to exhibit runoff as that is beyond 10% runoff needs. Might be able to get 4 fertigations before refilling reservoir instead of 3. We'll see. I don't like the minimum ~12-15 gallons sitting over night. It fouls the reservoir faster at low volumes. Anyway, super geeked. They better not clog easily, lol....

They gettin fat

Weather here is still fantastic, hot days, partially cloudy, cooler nights. Long term forecast are excellent till the end of September, probably till mid October. No news to report, I'm just waiting for buds swelling, these are the slowest days of my life. The halfway point has passed, now I am just waiting for the buds to gain weight, trichomes are turning milky with few amber. Lots of beautiful brown pistils are filling the buds, a ridiculous amount of resin is covering everything (I really won't know how to handle this super sticky stuff). Unfortunately, the flower size ratio is still disadvantageous compared to that of the sisters but the structure of this plant is sublime, practically apart from slender branches, sparse and thin leaves, it is composed only of beautiful dense buds, with a perfect ovoid shape, in need of little trim. Aesthetically a feast for the eyes. The mites infection is stable. From tomorrow the definitive defoliation begins, a little at a time. Flushing started, last feed Monday 14th. Harvest time September 26/27 or earlier.

21.12 Star der Blüte Werde bis zum 1.1 nichts machen und sie in Ruhe wachsen lassen. Im neuen Jahr wird dann mal ordentlich entlaubt! 24.12.25 : wurde ordentlich entlaubt und ein paar Triebe etwas zur Seite gebunden. Luftfeuchtigkeit ist gleich deutlich gefallen, werde jetzt bis zum 30.12 warten und dann alle kleinen Triebe und buds entfernen. 27.12 mal die Lampe auf 100% gedreht.

06/13 - Flipped into flower - today will be "DAY 1" of flower (Pre-flower) - I will feed only clean water for about a week to remove any excess veg nuts and salt accumulation - I will introduce flower nutes in about 2 weeks starting with with low dosage flower fuel, phosphate and potassium, as the weeks progress I will add more nutrient components. Feeding program will continue on the Vivosun drip emitter and a Exhale C02 bag will be added to the tent as well. 06/15 - Day 2 of pre-flower so much going on - still just clean water feeds until next week - I would like to bring down with salt build up from the veg feeds and as well bring down the EC/PPM values just a bit before introducing the flower nutrients - I will be picking up the lights about 4 to 5 inches as it stands the out main colas are only about 4 inches away from the touching the light and I would like to negate li

Good morning, weekly update time! We just finished up week 3 of veg as we land on day22 now. I noticed these ladies like it a little cooler as anything over 80 gives me some tacoing 🌮! I dropped lights on temp to 79 and have humidity at 70, I slowly changed vpd from .9 to 1 over the week ! The girls recovered from mainlining quickly and needed their first training, because of that I started using silica to harden up those trained mains! From here on out I’ll give fish shit and silica every other watering. The ladies got their bi weekly top dress of 1/4 cup worm castings to keep all that natural goodness working into the soil and down to the roots. I’m very happy with the way the run has progressed !

8/30 - Week 4 ends and we are heading into flowering. Fed the first dose of 1/2 strength Fox Farms Soil schedule for week 5 today. 3rd feeding overall, all half strength. 8/29 - Alright, heading into flower, had some moisture / airflow issues with how damn bushy she'd gotten so had to chop some more on 8/28 evening. Rebounded nicely 8/29 and we've got a good amount of tops coming up now w/ some preflower starting. Looks like we're heading into flower properly now and should be stretching soon. Fed another round of Fox Farms soil week 4 last on 8/27. 8/26 - Been tying it down and adjusting daily, getting some good spread w/ a good # of bud sites coming up. Some stretch would be welcome to fill out the space a bit and get some room to work with. Don't want to chop too much leaf off as it's flipping to flower but it's crowded. Fed Fox Farm Soil Feed at half strength on 8/24.

The one remaining plant from her seed pack after I made a mistake that cost her sister the opportunity to join the experiment. At first, I was simply happy that Candy Rain had made it. Then she started growing. And growing. And developing. And flowering. And somewhere along the way, the little survivor stopped looking like a plant that had merely survived... and started looking like a plant that belongs in the spotlight. Week 9 now. And honestly? I'm loving everything about her. The colour. The leaves. The structure. The flowers. The calyxes. Those beautiful fresh white pistils. The balance. The way she carries herself. She's just... beautiful. And this week, I didn't need to do anything special. No defoliation. No big intervention. No attempt to reshape her. We're simply letting Candy Rain be Candy Rain. And she's doing a damn good job of it. 🍬✨ 🌱 The 8×8 Adventure – Let Genetics Speak For anyone joining the diary now, welcome to the 8×8 Adventure. This project is built around a simple idea: Give different genetics and phenotypes the same opportunity... and then watch what they do with it. The plants share the same room. The same 12/12 lighting schedule. The same environmental strategy. The same general nutrition. The same irrigation system. The same lighting ecosystem. The same grower. But the plants don't become identical. That's the whole point. The environment provides the stage. Genetics write the performance. And Candy Rain has certainly developed her own character. 🍬 From Survivor to Something Special I still find it funny looking back at where this girl started. She wasn't supposed to become one of the plants I would be watching this closely. She simply survived. And now I'm looking at her at Week 9 thinking: "Where the hell are you going?" 😂💚 Because she continues to impress me. She's not the tallest plant in the room. She's not the biggest. She's not trying to dominate everything around her. Instead, she has developed something I appreciate enormously: balance. Her structure is controlled. Her branches carry flowering sites beautifully. Her foliage remains healthy and functional. And the plant has that wonderful combination of strength and elegance. Nothing feels excessive. Nothing feels chaotic. She simply looks... right. 🌿 A Beautifully Balanced Plant This week, one of the things I appreciate most is the overall balance of Candy Rain. She's still carrying plenty of healthy foliage, but the canopy doesn't feel unnecessarily crowded. The branches have enough separation to allow us to see the developing flowers. The leaves are beautifully formed. And the entire plant has maintained that fresh, vibrant green that first caught my attention. There is something particularly satisfying about looking at a plant where everything seems to be working together. Leaves supporting flowers. Branches supporting structure. Flowering sites developing along the architecture. Nothing screaming for attention. Nothing demanding correction. Just steady development. And that's exactly why... there was no defoliation this week. ✂️ No Defoliation – Just Let Her Be Sometimes the best thing you can do for a plant is nothing. And that's where Candy Rain is right now. I'm not going to remove healthy leaves just because we're at Week 9. I'm not going to create gaps simply because the calendar says it's time for a cleanup. I'm looking at the plant. I'm looking at the canopy. I'm looking at the flowers. And I'm asking: Does she actually need me to interfere? This week, my answer is: No. She's balanced. She's healthy. She's flowering. She's maintaining good structure. So we're leaving her alone. We're letting her keep the leaves she's chosen to keep. We're letting her maintain the architecture she's built. We're letting her be what she is. And honestly... I think that's beautiful. 🌸 The Flowers Are Becoming Beautiful The flowering sites are now much more established. What started as tiny clusters of pistils has become unmistakable developing flowers. And the photographs this week really capture the details I love about Candy Rain. The calyxes are becoming increasingly pronounced. The fresh white hairs are still beautifully visible, reaching outward from the developing flowers. The flower structures are gaining definition. And the whole plant seems to be moving deeper into that stage where every week brings another visible change. This is one of my favourite moments in a grow. You're past the initial excitement of seeing the first pistils... but you're not yet at the final destination. You're somewhere in between. The flowers are telling you: "Wait. We're not finished yet." And I'm listening. ? Those White Hairs... I have to say it. I absolutely love the pistils on this plant. There is something incredibly elegant about those fresh white hairs emerging from the calyxes. They give the flowers that almost delicate appearance. And when you look closely at the photographs, you can see how much detail is already developing. This is where macro photography becomes particularly rewarding. You can look at the plant from a distance and think: "Beautiful flowers." Then you get closer... and suddenly you're looking at an entire microscopic landscape. Calyxes. Pistils. Sugar leaves. Early resin development. Textures. Patterns. It's one of the reasons I never get tired of photographing these plants. There's always another detail hiding there. 🍃 And Those Leaves... The leaves deserve their own little moment too. Because I genuinely love the foliage on this girl. They're beautifully formed. Healthy. Strong. And incredibly photogenic. The leaf structure adds so much to the overall appearance of the plant. And when you place those leaves around the developing flowers, the contrast between the green foliage and the lighter flowering structures makes the whole plant incredibly attractive. She's not just producing flowers. She's producing them inside a beautiful architecture. And that's something I really appreciate. 💡 Light From Above & Below The lighting environment remains consistent with the rest of the room. The Future of Grow Black Series LED provides the primary overhead illumination, while Lumiflora contributes additional under-canopy lighting. Candy Rain's open and elegant structure makes her particularly interesting to observe under this combination. Her flowering sites are distributed through different levels of the plant, giving us another opportunity to watch how the different parts of the canopy develop as flowering progresses. But I'm deliberately avoiding making big claims before harvest. The plants will tell us. The photographs will tell us. And eventually... the finished flowers will tell us. For now, we're simply watching. And now she's standing here at Week 9 looking like she was always meant to be part of this adventure. That's something growing teaches you again and again. You don't always know which plant will capture your attention. Sometimes it's the biggest. Sometimes it's the weirdest. Sometimes it's the one with the most unusual phenotype. And sometimes... it's simply the one that quietly keeps getting better. Candy Rain is that girl for me. 🔮 Looking Ahead And now I'm genuinely curious. Where does she go from here? So yeh this weeks been good. This is the first flowering entry even tho they’ve been on a 12/12 cycle for about a week now because I wanted to at least see pre flowers before I started the flower entries. I now see a few but not on all plants. Not long tho I suspect. Everything is going great. These are the tallest plants at the mo and they are just preying too the light. They look so beautiful. I did lollipop them and spread the growth nodes out quite a bit with LSTing and they’ve responded beautifully. It’s such a relief coming from photos to know i can make a couple mistakes if I like and if I don’t make any my god do they reward you and respond well!!! I’ll be going back in at day 42 of flower to tidy up again but they are good for now 👍

I love this plant. It's such a beautiful structure. Buds are fattening up really well. Seeds are also starting to be produced. Looks like the rest of the plant has become pollinated. Couldn't be happier.

Day 01 Seed popped in 24h, 3/3, fast for seed stored since several months. Check out these lovely Lemmosa ladies! 😍 The buds are covered in trichomes, spreading out onto the leaves. I'm growing three, and each one of them has a slightly different smell. They now have a strong odor. They smell like skunky lemon gas. One of them has a fresher lemony gas smell. The buds form tight and dense, and spaced out from each other. The hairs (pistols) have started to change color on the tips of the plant. This is the 5th week into flowering, so it seems early for the colors to change. But, this is the best grow for me, so far. With this being my fourth run. They only needed a few leaves trimmed. I fed them FLOWER as a nutrient tea. The lights are now on 10, the highest setting.

Hello. This is the end of week 11 and the beginning of week 12 of veg. Man it's been hot this week. 4th day in a row it's been over 30*c in the greenhouse. It's been 2 days since the last watering and they were dry last night and had to water. Yeah... I just couldn't throw out that mutated sister. Yeah... I should repot her and maybe top her too. Sometimes the mutated ones are the best.... Time will tell. Everything else is going good. Some of the bottom leaves are turning yellow. Nothing to worry about though It's just wanting more food next watering. OK. Keep Growing Straight. Chuck.
