My little experimenting already bears fruits of knowledge, I've topped too close to the node without leaving a bit of stem, and whilst tying down the branch during LST, I had a gnarly stem split. However a cool head, some grafting tape and a day of healing and this rugged little plant picked herself right back off the floor and shot up inches overnight! More and more pistils are shooting out and this plant is stretching so much, as is typical of OG strains, my last autoflower is nearly done, after which I will put a trellis net in and this lady can have the entire place to herself!

An interesting discovery was made with this plant’s pot, I observed how having a row lesser of drainage drastically effected how I water this lady. Her grow medium swamps up if I maintain a 1lt daily water schedule, which would result in drowning the roots, luckily my grow medium has sponges up when wet, allow the slow irrigation to take place to avoid root rot. Luckily it’s spring time and in Mzansi(South Africa) it is hot enough to push my greenhouse’ temperature higher than the outdoor temperature, to encourage some form of evaporation and humidity, next week I will add pictures of the thermometers, and you can see the drastic difference in temperature.

8/26 she started showing flower. She has been looking very happy. Her leaves pointing high. Since I have been feeding her more her color has been looking much better. Her green is darker then it has ever been. 9/9 Fed 8 tablespoons Foxfarm Big Bloom 28 MLs Foxfarm Tiger Bloom. 9/11 Gave her a little rice water and regular water. Cloudy and some rain today. Also she is starting to smell from a distance. 9/12 4 tablespoons Foxfarm Big Bloom 12 MLs Foxfarm Tiger Bloom. Couple of cloudy days, so only 1 gallon. 9/15 Fed 1.25 teaspoons of Foxfarm Beasti Bloom. She is not growing anymore and working on her bud. So this is her first week of Beasti Bloom. She seems to be budding ok, don't have anything to compare her to. The way I trained her, she is almost all tops. She is greener than she has ever been before. Also a couple of the lower leaves that where fading a bit. The tips look are browning. The leaves where already fading, so I'm not sure if it's a little nuit burn. None of the top and newer growth leaves have any issues. Still I am going to cut back on the nuits a little. This strain is supposed to be a heavy feeder. So I'm going to cut back, but just a little. Probably drop it down to 2 feedings a week. Very nervous about this part of the grow. My autoflower grows were poor genetics. So I am counting on this plant to hold me over for the winter and even spring. Her leaves are a solid green. So I think she is good on N, so I'm thinking maybe this week I should switch over to the Foxfarm Beasti Bloom. Make sure she is solid with P and K.

Another week donnnnnnne 💪🏽! Soo yeah the stretch has finished and the buds are stacking I fucked up a little at the start of the week, i set the lights to full power. She’s at 300watts. I turn the timer down to 11hours. But I didn’t realise it turned the timer off by mistake 😬 she ran 24 hours a day for two days 😫. I hope she don’t get pissy with me but so far so good. Most of the week was spent setting up the hydro grow. Needed to build a DIY chiller since air temp in our grow room is hot, and water needs to be a good deal colder. Fridge from kijiji, garden hose, fittings, and submersible pump all in were under $100 but knowing what I know now I'd likely go with a thermoelectric chiller (DIY, with power supply and temp controller) next time around. Looking forward to tracking metrics and seeing how it goes :). Seems there's a lot of contradiction in terms of level of nutrients recommended, max water temperature, using H2O2 to boost water temp that can keep algae and rot at bay, etc. Got my hands on some Hydroguard via Amazon... despite local shops saying you can't get it in Canada... so I'm going to go with that instead of H2O2 to start, despite water temp getting up above 21 C (70 f) during the day. Fingers crossed. Update - keeping water reservoir tank under 20 C now by using reflective bubble wrap insulation on the reservoir itself and pipe insulation as well. It's a 10 C difference from the room temp, so I'm SUPER pleased with that.
