Week 9: Trichomes - The Jewel of Panty Punch Auto's Journey As we stand on the precipice of harvest, Week 9 of our cultivation journey with Panty Punch Auto beckons us to explore the mesmerizing world of trichomes - the tiny, glistening crystals that adorn her resinous buds. In this report, we embark on a deep dive into the nature of trichomes, their evolution, and their significance as Panty Punch Auto approaches the pinnacle of her growth cycle. Trichomes, often referred to as the jewel of the cannabis plant, are specialized epidermal cells that serve a multitude of functions. These microscopic structures produce and store a plethora of compounds, including cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids, all of which contribute to the plant's unique aroma, flavor, and effects. Throughout Panty Punch Auto's growth journey, we've watched in awe as her trichomes have evolved from mere specks to glittering clusters of resinous goodness. Their development follows a fascinating progression, beginning with clear, transparent trichomes that gradually transition to cloudy and finally amber hues as maturity approaches. This evolution signals the optimal time for harvest, as each stage offers distinct effects and flavors. In jest, we marvel at the sheer numbers of trichomes that adorn Panty Punch Auto's buds, jokingly attributing their abundance to the exceptional genetics provided by SeedStockers feed on Aptus Holland. Time and time again, Aptus Holland has proven their prowess in feeding top-tier nutrients to all my cannabis genetics, and Panty Punch Auto stands as a shining testament to their expertise. As we reflect on the journey from seed to harvest, it's impossible not to be awestruck by the sheer magnitude of Panty Punch Auto's growth. From her humble beginnings as a tiny seedling to the towering beauty she is today, every stage of her growth has been a testament to the power of genetics and nurturing care. She stands as a true giant in our grow space, a living testament to the wonders of nature and the art of cultivation. Throughout this journey, the Tent-X controller has been an invaluable ally, providing precise environmental control and ensuring optimal conditions for Panty Punch Auto's development. From maintaining temperature and humidity levels to record all data, the Tent-X has played a pivotal role in her success, allowing us to create the perfect environment for trichome production and resin development. As we prepare to bid farewell to Week 9 and embark on the final stage of Panty Punch Auto's journey, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to those who have supported us along the way. A sincere thank you to Aptus Holland for their exceptional Nutrients, SeedStockers for the amazing genetics to TrolMaster for their innovative technology, to Grow Diaries for fostering a vibrant community of growers, and to all fellow cultivators for their unwavering encouragement and inspiration. As we eagerly anticipate the moment of harvest, let us savor the beauty of Panty Punch Auto's trichome-laden buds and celebrate the culmination of months of dedication and hard work. Stay tuned for next week's harvest report, where we'll reap the rewards of our labor and toast to the success of another remarkable cultivation journey. My poor girls... the calcium toxitity got worse before it got better. Even after the flush, the problem continued for a few more days so the leaves are worse for wear. I'm so upset about this. Ughh. I've had issues with every grow when it came to flowering. Unsure why. Last time I had pH issues, this time a calcium toxicity that causes a lock out of I believe at least phosphorus. They are on the mend now even though the damage has been done to the leaves. Their buds have already fattened so much more since the actual flush last week. The leaves are just terrible though. At this point I'm just hoping to come out with an ok enough yield so that this whole thing won't have been a waste. I learned a lesson with this grow... the water here for this grow is higher in calcium than the city we lived in with my first 2 grows. Next grow, using calmag VERY sparingly. Hopefully my 4th go will finally be the charm. 😖😕😖😩😫😭😭😭 8/25/22: Well the girls have recovered pretty well. No more lockout or leaves shriveling. The buds are getting fatter and we've got some cloudy trichomes already but they still need another 2 or 3 weeks after being as sick as they were. Both the Granddaddy purps are have some purple coming through... excited about that. I also noticed that the stems on all 3 plants that were super dark red before the flush is now are lightening up. It's pretty amazing how these plants quickly recover. 😍

* Setup * Veg: 125W CFL Bloom: Outdoor 12/12 Soil: Canna Coco Pot: 3gal, 12L, Fabric pot. Methods used: LST, Topping, Fimming, Defoliation, Neem oil misting Wet weight: Not weighed/harvested entire plant yet, but harvested part, trimmed was 270g, and around 30g of sugar leaves, thats is in the freezer. Wet bud on stick Weight: ca 480g Fine trimmed Dry bud weight: 119g The sugar leaves/popcorn nugs not weighed. I also have 1/3 of the plant left to harvest, probably tomorrow. After that I can give you the full wet weight, and hopefully in 2 weeks the full dry weight! (If I dont smoke to much if it before 😆) Thank you all for following this diary. And thank you @Sweet_Seeds for your fantastic seeds! "Sweet seeds are made of this Who am I to disagree? I smoked in the world And in the seven seas Everybody's looking for something Some of them want to smoke you Some of them want to get smoked by you" I got this plant as a present from my local club, supposdely its Cream Caramel from Sweet Seeds. It was around 2 weeks old when I got it. I have no former experience of any type of growing cultivation, I recently Moved to a country where cannabis cultivation for personal use is legal. I started this Journey by having the plant under 25W of homemade lamp solution and 6hrs of sun, until I could buy proper setup for vegetation. Growdiaries really helped me learn alot fast and achieve results way above me and my girlfriends expectations. I topped the plant Once, I accidently stepped on it, Vegged it under 125W Of CFL from week 3 onwards and then transitioned to Outdoor. The weather around here has been the hottest in 60 years, averaging around 32 lately. Humidity has been stable around 50-70% with a average of around 60% I really learned alot and this strain(which ever it now is, ill ask the club again!) is fantastic and most definently not Indica like. 👉 This is the first staggered harvest I have done. The highest parts of the plant were definitely ahead of each lower level of flowers. So it made sense to give this a try. Also, there were so many sugar leaves in the flowers I knew I was facing some major trim time. So I started at the highest branch of colas and that was the main stem…what I call the Queen cola, on April 4. I was also very busy with work and life so I spaced out each successive branch by a day or two…or so. To harvest I would cut each major branch from the top down. There would be one major cola ( and best specimen) on each branch. That cola was trimmed so it was still on its stem and then weighed. I recorded the weight of the cola then assigned it a letter, put on a clothes pin, then hung on a rack. I would weigh the cola over a couple of days till it had loss 75% of it wet weight. I would cut from the stem for the final weight, then place in a jar with a hygrometer. I would monitor the jars and if they were above 62% I would take off the jar lid, then replace when humidity was back down. When stable I put a humidity pack in some of the jars, but not all, just to see if I can observe a difference after the cure. 👉 My last trim penance was served on May 1. Almost a full month. The first cola harvested is already being tested. I did a close trim and removed as many sugar leaves as possible. I think I spent over 10 hours in total. So glad I chose to stagger the job. I trimmed any frosty sugar leaves over a trim tray with a screen for a bottom. I also scissored a bunch of the larf buds into small bits to add to the trim. I made a nice small wafer of just trichomes with no plant matter. Very nice, sweet stuff. I’m letting the large pile of trimmed sugar leaves dry out till crispy and will hand grind them over that screen and press the kief produced into pucks. It’s green and has lots of plant material with it…but its still sweet, and a very nice topper to a bong or joint. 👉 There were a lot of nice buds of what I call secondary flowers. Those were on secondary branch ends mostly. These buds were placed on a dry net. After 24hrs, I placed them in a paper bag. When they had lost 75% of their wet weight they were put into a jar with a hydrometer. Almost everything that wasn’t a branch end flower was put in the larf bin. Lots of larf. I didn’t weight any of it dry and just the wet weight from a couple of branches. I plan on making bubble hash and extracts (oil and tincture) with the larf. Of course planning and doing are two separate issues. I have acquired all the proper gear and done lots of research. I am also experimenting with the drying environment. In the past I was using a direct fan to oscillate directly on the buds for 24 hrs. At 24hrs the buds were put in bags and also kept them in direct wind. After a couple of branch sets I decided to stop oscillating the fan and make the breeze indirect. I still put the buds in bags after 24 hrs and kept the wind indirect. It took a few days to get to 25% doing it this way, as opposed to 2 days in bags with direct wind. The slower is supposed to be better, but risks moldy buds. I’m not doing everything the same way so I’m curious to see if there are perceptible differences in jar aroma and taste. To further complicate things to eye-roll status, The staggered harvest should have improved the lower level of flowers to the same ripeness. I can honestly tell buds from the same plants taken at different levels. The lower ones are noticeably weaker. I won’t start testing to see if there is improvement till the flowers are at least 4 months cured.

Hi Growers. Day 21 Flower So this week I decided to defoliate as they are super leafy. I took that pile from each plant. I also took off any branches that I thought would be under the trellis. It’s being pushed up so it’s hard to tell. They are pretty happy regardless. The leaves I left are already quite big after 3 days. I did 2 hydrogen peroxide flushes around the defoliation to combat any possible pests and nutes weren’t gonna help in a slightly stressed state and they won’t hate some extra oxygen to the roots. I let them dry for 3 days and fed today. The Vipar Spectra XS2000 is growing these plants nicely, heating the tent a prefect amount. It’s so powerful in my 2x4, I’d love to see it in a 3x3. They’re happy with it up at 22-24” until I know they’ve stopped stretching. Pretty easy week. Just trying to keep them happy and growing big. Happy Growing 🌱

Top Dressed with my dry amendments and topped 3 nodes down with of all branches. Trying to really bush it out under a scrog. The nutrients kicked in within the week on the Acapulco Gold. - Changed the light from about 15% to about 35% at the same height on the ES180 - By using the mixture of Bio Tone and Earth dust I am introducing symbiotic microorganisms into the soil, mostly fungus. From what I understand these mycelium help the plant uptake the food grow healthier roots. - My goal is to use the increased nutrient availability to help the plants handle more light intensity and meet it vigorous growth. -Turned both fans on for stem strength -
