Plants that are too far from an adequate light source will respond by accelerating stem growth in order to get closer to the lamp themselves. Especially when there are many other plants. A lack of lighting can easily cause overcrowding in a growing chamber, reducing the steady progression of your crop and the distance ratio between your bulbs and your plants. To address this problem, be sure to provide enough light to your plants to prevent stem growth. At the same time, you should not position your lights too close to your plants either since this would also result in an over-stretching of the stems and in some cases, the loss of your crop. In addition to the distance between the light source and the plant, the type of light you will use also affects the size of the stretching of your crop. The orange and red lights encourage stretching and result in thinner, larger stems. And conversely, blue light stimulates a growth of thicker stems and a smaller size. When a species is ready to enter the vegetative phase and undergo its most drastic stretching period, metal halide lamps can be used to deter far too long stems. THE HEAT Heat is another essential element that can determine the stretch size of your plants during vegetation. Temperatures above 27 degrees push the stems to lengthen more and more and will propel the potential of sativas to push as high as possible. Heat lamps that are positioned too close to plants create an intolerable environment that will grow large, soft plants that will potentially wobble until they fall and lose flowers in its fall. OTHER CAUSES OF STRETCHING There are multiple variables that can lead to the stretching of plants beyond what could normally be expected of the plant. Environmental stressors resulting from transplantation (when a plant passes from one pot to another) can cause the plant to return to shock. This will eventually trigger a reaction causing a stretch. Cannabis plants that are not grown in decent conditions or do not receive enough nutrients will respond in a variety of ways and this includes stretching. Crops that are not spaced far enough apart are likely to stretch to sting the light to other plants. Due to extreme proximity, the plants will fight among themselves to reach the light, forcing them to expand as much as possible throughout the crop. HOW TO CONTROL STRETCHING DURING FLOWERING Stretching during flowering, you guessed it, takes place when you move your plants from the vegetation stage to the flowering stage. This is a completely normal reaction, as your plants are preparing to bear the weight of their heads. Stretching of a plant at the beginning of flowering varies widely; some plants can double in height while others grow only a few centimetres. There are, however, two main variables that can give you at least an idea of how your plants are stretching during flowering, and how much. Here are these two variables: Variety: Genetics has the greatest impact on the size of your plant. In general, sativa varieties stretch more than indicas and tend to develop long, slender stems. Light: Some lights, such as HPS, are more likely to encourage stretching. In addition, great distances between your canopy and your lights will cause the plants to stretch as they try to get closer to the light source. Stretching during flowering usually lasts the first two weeks of the phase. To minimize stretching, keep your lights between 10 (for CFL) and 30 centimetres (for HID) of your canopy. Finally, choose indica varieties if you have a smaller growing space. HOW TO AVOID STRETCHING In many cases, you can expect your cannabis plants to stretch during the flowering phase. Keeping that in mind helps to make a plan in case your species ends up growing much more than you could have imagined. If the information is available, get information on the standard size of your species and compare it to the size of your growing space taking into account the necessary distances between the bulbs and the plants. TRAFFIC While outdoor crop operations benefit from natural air to naturally limit stretching, indoor crops must assume the maintenance of air circulation within a confined space. Basic ventilation is enough to help the cannabis stems strengthen and become thicker rather than too high. In this way, the plants continue to grow vigorously without reaching heights and at the same time, your tolerance ceiling. MANUAL INTERVENTION For growers who want to get their hands dirty, there are physical procedures that can be done to reduce stretching. Similar to the natural effect that the wind has on cannabis plants, manually bending the leaves and stems will cause tiny cracks in the plant's tissues that will cause the plant to focus on regenerating its wounds instead of its vertical growth. THE TOPPING Topping is a form of manual intervention on cannabis to influence its performance, shape or size. In essence, topping is a process in which a new node is cut, growing from the plant to reduce its size and create a "v"-shaped notch that will eventually form two heads. Topping may be an effective measure to combat stretching, but it is important not to do so when the flowering phase begins. In most cases, an abnormal stretch of cannabis plants will not completely destroy your crop. In fact, stretching can indeed help increase your performance. For growers with a growing operation large enough to contain tall plants, stretching can increase the total yield of a species with more vertical space for head formation. In both cases, stretching can easily be planned in advance and there are multiple solutions to help you with this problem which is all too common. May the force be with you 💪

The plan is simple... let her grow inside under a 19/5 light schedule until the nighttime temperatures stay above the mid 40's℉, at which point she'll be moved outside and transplanted into the soil which I have already setup and inoculated with beneficial microbes, and then let the fun begin!🤪💚 ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Weekly Updates: 4/4- Here we go into the second week of life for the FastBuds Wedding Cheesecake FF, and she's doing really well! All I'm doing right now is making sure that her medium remains moist, watering only when necessary. I'm checking her root development daily and she will be ready to transplant outdoors any day now! 4/6- Today is TRANSPLANT DAY! I moved the Wedding Cheesecake FF outside to her prearranged 'new home' which I had previously prepped by adding some Coco/Perlite into the soil to improve the texture and drainage. I then pre-amended the soil with Gaia Green 4-4-4 All Purpose slow release dry amendment along with 3g of Wiggle Worm castings, 2 cups of ground Alfalfa and 1/4 cup of Extreme Gardening's MYCOS. After which, I kept the soil moist to allow the microbial colony to populate for a week. To transplant, I first made a hole then placed a Solo cup in it to make sure that the depth was adequate, then packed the medium up against the cup firmly which leaves a nice Solo cup shaped hole in the ground. I then wet the inside of the hole that I formed and coated the hole with Extreme Gardening's MYCOS root enhancer, after which I removed the Wedding Cheesecake FF from her Solo cup and placed her snugly into her new home! After planting her in the ground all that was left to do was lightly water her in... Let the fun begin!🤪 4/8- The Wedding Cheesecake FF from FastBuds is doing extremely well in her new environment. To be quite honest I was slightly hesitant to place her outside this early as we are only getting approximately 13 or so hours of sunlight daily. Based on my experience last year growing a Gorilla Cookies FF, which was placed outside at a similar time and did extremely well, I went ahead with the transplant, confident that she would be just fine. 4/11- I'm watering around every 2-3 days right now using water straight from my well through a garden hose... super simple! I do not worry about PH as long as the water isn't chlorinated and is good enough for me to drink, it's good enough for my plants and the microbial colony in the soil will adjust the PH to where they need it and at the same time provide the nutrients that the plant requires... again, nice and simple. Well there goes two weeks for this little lady. Monkey Bomb is pushing past its 8 week flower time now with at least another 14 days of strong growth left, the resin build up on this strain is straight from its lineage and it shows very strong gassy smell and resin like glue . Great strain for the patient grower thank you @bombseeds

Week 7/10. I will be starting 14day flush next week with Vitalkink Finale in the first 7 days and plain water the next 7 days then 72 hours before harvest i will leave them in the dark at 15°C. I am doing 5x Blackberry by fast buds after these are finished which will be my first time doing autos.

Feeding: 800 ml nutrient solution 0.4 ml/L Biobizz Grow 0.2 ml/L Biobizz Bloom (to support early pre-flower development) EC/PPM reading: ~430 Runoff observation: no runoff was produced with 800 ml, so next watering I plan to give at least 950 ml, possibly up to 1 liter, to ensure at least ~10% runoff. Environment: Temperature: min 24 °C – max 30 °C (average ~28 °C) Humidity: 60–65 % (planning to gradually reduce to 55–50 % over the coming weeks) Ventilation: installed an automatic oscillating fan to improve air circulation. Notes: despite mild chlorosis and the downward leaf posture, the plant appears stable. Main focus for the next weeks: correct pH, careful watering, and progressive humidity adjustment.

Recovering week of 3 plants after nutrient deficiencies. Self note: don’t play around with new brand of nutrients. Switching biobizz calmag (basically water) to camgboost from aptus. Foliar feed camagboost 5ml/lt ph 5.8 to recover from calcium and magnesium deficiency which created other problems, specially plant #4. Changing to an organo-mineral grow with aptus. Will use just base nutrients from bio bizz (giving away calmag from bio bizz to a friend 😃) and booster exclusively from aptus. Planning to switch to flower as soon I see full recovery; probably end of the week or beginning of next week. Auto pot system has been turn on after 20 days of potting.

I have these three girls hanging upside down in a dark room with a heater on to keep between 60°F & 70°F & indirect airflow in the room to prevent mold & preserve terps. Aiming for 7-14 days drying time followed by a minimum of 21 days burping & curing. Will make a harvest post regarding dry weights smells & better flower pics in 4-5 weeks time. She is becoming a monster! Which is awesome. The mainlining really made a huge difference for her overall production. My first Black Jack I just simply LST the main stem and that was about it for training grew to 15" after 12 weeks. This girl is already 15.5" and still getting taller, the bud sites are just way better and should fill in great, excited! Cheers 😎💪

My Gorilla seems to be tame, I wonder if she’s mimicking Lamby, going to be short but pungent in aroma with bulky buds,I need to read up again on what to expect when she’s in her flowering phase. She’s has become a nice experiment when it comes to seeing if her 500ml water and nutrient watering regiment is going to pay off with her potency, thus far I am. To impressed with her at all, but I will keep nurturing her, I really need lights to compliment the sun, I want to keep each season’s light schedule, all I do is increase the time of exposure to direct light with the artificial light. I Though they get light, it’s not as much as I would love my ladies to receive, but before I judge let me practice patience and enjoy the harvest, each lady will tell a different tale with what I dealt them. Let me not complain rather focus on harvesting all these ladies and getting feedback from friends and I need to get them lab tested.
