Great week this week, inside the tent and out. Carl 2 is doing great, and has mostly acclimatized to the winds and heat of the outdoors. UKBS 2 is seemingly recovering (knock on wood) from whatever was degenerating it's stem. It must have been mold or something similar as about 1/3 of the stem became dead wood and had to be removed carefully. I've been trawling the internet and all sources of horticultural forums I possibly can, and yielded somewhat inconclusive results. Everything from ants, to mold, to stem borers. None of which seemed to have been the case here. In any case, I took a whole ton of cuttings from UKBS 2 and am attempting to root them. Great genetics, and not to sound like a broken record but I'd hate to lose such a vigorous pheno. =-= Inside the tent, things are also going quite well. UKBS 1 is getting quite chunky, seems to be an interesting pheno. As for Carl 1, oh boy. I came to find out that this strain is a real interesting one. According to the breeder, it's a cross of C99 grapefruit x "D" Haze; pheno hunted and backcrossed in the 90s and stabilized over nearly 30 years. Loooooooong flowering times. In other news, the timelapse is out as well. Updates as usual. -6/3/2021 - Busted out the Rebel T5 and took some real nice budshots. Carl 1 is quite frosty, UKBS 1 is quite chunky. Alright, these ladies are mid way through week 7 day 52 of bud. Just 3 days ago i started the flush stage for these plants even tho I’ve heard 1000x that it’s not necessary for organic gardens. I still do it just because. So these ladies got fed 2gal each of plain PH corrected water. With no sugars of any kind added. They all seem to be flushing out very well with most of their leafs turning yellow with purple on the tips. If you see any crumpled leafs it’s from last week when I noticed my soil PH had drifted to high. So I’ve been trying to correct it but these ladies are just about done so I’m not to worried. It looks like we got 1 week left on the Train Wreck and maybe 2 weeks on the OG and the Melato. The Train Wreck actually looks ready to chop down now but when I got up close with a jewel scope I saw that her trichome development is only at 50% cloudy and 47% clear with maybe around 3% amber. So I’m sure she will be ready by the day 58 mark but the OG and the Melato will probably go to around day 65. She was never the most impressive plant, kept feeling like she would bloom more but the conditions were never truly right for her. Both plants had their branches sliced at the stem and large leaves removed, this purposely slowed drying down to maximise end flavour. The Blackberry auto by Fastbuds has been a thrilling plant to grow. Starting off as a tri-cotyledon seedling, she's been a rush from the start. When she came out mutated I didn't even know if I wanted to keep her; I asked the growdiaries.com community for help. After speaking with a few experts I decided to keep it and see what would happen.. Since then she has developed thick healthy stocks stalks and dark leaves with ripe purple flowers bursting out between them add every node. Using a home mix super soil with Promis Organic as the base, I decided to feed compost extracts laced with Golden Tree & CalMag which helped kick this girl into over drive and push out these dense sticky buds. I'm expecting around 3 ounces from her and it's day 73 since she popped out of the soil. She has a sweet aroma and is completely covered in trichomes. Drying/ Curing process: - she will be hung upside down by the main stock until she is dry (8-12 days) - My humidity will be set to 55 - 60 % and my temps will range from 65-70 degrees F - Will store in Glas Mason jars with 2-way Boveda humidty packs. The tallest pheno is ready and being flushed for a couple of days now, rhe others are close but still consuming nutrients at a strong rate , I think they will take at least 1 more week. They smell very much like gelato as a group but are all very different from one another .
