Positively charged ions in plant nutrition are called cations: Calcium: Ca+2 Magnesium: Mg+2 Potassium: K+ Sodium: Na+ Hydrogen: H+ Aluminum: Al3+ Iron: Fe2+ Manganese: Mn2+ Zinc: Zn2+ Copper: Cu2+ Cations are attracted to negatively charged soil particles, called the clay-humus-complex, because opposite charges attract. The soil's ability to hold onto cations is called its cation exchange capacity (CEC). Soils with a higher CEC can hold onto more nutrients. The CEC of a soil depends on its clay and organic matter content. Sandy soils have a low CEC because they have larger particles and pore spaces, and a lower capacity to retain nutrients. Clay soils have a higher CEC because they have smaller particles and pore spaces, and clay particles have a higher surface area Negatively charged nutrients in plant nutrition are called anions. Some common anions include: Phosphate (PO43-), Sulfate (SO42-), Nitrate (NO3-), and Chlorine (Cl-). Anions are the opposite of cations, which are positively charged nutrients. The relationship between anions and cations in plants can cause significant changes in pH levels in the growing system. When plants absorb more anions than cations, the pH increases, and when they absorb more cations than anions, the pH decreases. Here are some other things to know about anions: Anions are held and retained by soil particles, but to a lesser extent than cations. Anion adsorption is dependent on pH and increases as soil pH decreases. Phosphates and sulfates are adsorbed more strongly than nitrates and chlorides. Anions are more likely to be lost from the soil through leaching, with the exception of phosphate and sulfate to a lesser degree. Over-application of a negatively charged element followed by excessive water will quickly move that element through the system Among the micronutrients, Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, and Ni are taken up by plants in their cationic forms, and B, Mo, and Cl are taken up by plants in their anionic forms.

Grow Report: Zuppler's Sea of Green - Florida Gang Style Strain: Donutz (Humboldt Seed Company) Grow Tent: 120x60cm Light Setup: 320W LED Medium: Floragard Growmix soil Containers: 3.7L pots Water: Reverse osmosis (RO) water Nutrients: Greenhouse Feeding (planned for later stages) Week 1 - Poppin' Off The journey begins with a 10/10 germination rate — strong genetics showing their strength right off the bat! All seeds have sprouted and broken through the soil surface, ready to ride the wave of growth under a 320W LED, casting down consistent rays in the 120x60cm tent. The initial focus? Establishing solid roots and healthy shoots in Floragard Growmix soil. No nutrients added yet; the young Donutz ladies are riding on the starter mix's nutritional buffer. RO water keeps everything clean and pH balanced, ensuring no unwanted minerals creep in this early. Observations: All seedlings looking vibrant, green, and strong. Uniform growth across the board — perfect for the Sea of Green (SOG) method. Temps stable, ensuring no stress. Light is dimmed a touch for the youngins, keeping nodes tight but not overwhelming. Next Steps: The plan is simple — maintain stable conditions, keep an eye on humidity, and prepare to introduce Greenhouse Feeding once the seedlings are ready to crank up the nutrient game. For now, it's all about building those roots and establishing a foundation for the dense, resinous canopy that’s to come.

Day36, 37, 38: Seems to be growing a set of leaves per day now. Super growth! Stretching to the top. Day39: I had a hiccup with the camera. For some reason it stopped responding at 04:30 in the morning. I only realized it much later. I still don't really know why, but reseating the data ribbon fixed the issue. Day40: After fixing the camera, I decided to take this view again. The Lady is starting to show some nice growth and this view will show it best. If you look carefully, you'll see that her branches are not green, but rather reddish. Definitely related to genetics :) Everything else is within limits. Plus, the leaves look super healthy. Day41: Here you can see the stem colour better.

After a questionable start, she's up and going, so the grow off is official! I have plugged in some organic items into a Pro Mix HP base to get this lady out of the blocks organically and get that root system spread out through the nursery pot. I fed some wicking cord through the drainage holes to make a sip system, basically bottom watering to deepen the root system development. I layered the soil into the pot so the available nutrients increase as the roots descend. I added a little mycorrhizae in the soil where the seed was placed to get things cooking and used Recharge adjusted to 6.0 pH to buffer my amended starter mix. Now that she's showing a little more vigor, I'm adding a little Kelp, CalMag+, and MegaCrop for her to sip on... A little organo-salt treatment that will make sure she's got all she needs available to allowing her to really blow up!

Welcome to week six! 🌱 Week five was a complete success – all parameters are perfectly aligned. I’ve increased the water conductivity to a solid 3000 and bumped the CO2 level up to 1200 🌿. Light intensity is now set at 1400 µmol in the center and 1000 at the edges, which will keep the plants strong in their generative state 🌞. I’ll maintain these levels until the end of the third week and then start slowly removing the large fan leaves to ensure the buds get plenty of light 💡✨. I’m also trying something new to activate the “Emerson effect” 🌄: I’m running the deep red lights for 5 minutes before sunset and for another 5 minutes after the day ends. This should give the plants a final boost in photosynthesis, helping to maximize their growth potential! Everything’s looking fantastic so far! The Black Cherry has rooted well across different experimental setups, and at the end of the grow, I’ll provide a full report on the best care techniques for both strains 🌺👌. Willkommen in Woche sechs!

The stretch has begun and they look good💪 The first pistils appeared on the 3 plants so the first flowers should be there pretty soon 😎 I decreased the humidity from 60 to 55% and increased the watering. Plants heights at the end of the week : ------------------------------------------- Gorilla Cookies : 63cm Purple Lemonade : 47.5cm Wedding Cheesecake : 64cm

Yo, what’s up, friends! Harvest day is getting closer 😍 Cannalope Haze is pretty much ready, but I’m holding off until Sleepy Joe catches up — I think just a few more days. The trichomes are mostly milky, with a few amber ones showing, which is exactly how I like it for a more uplifting effect to keep me productive throughout the day. For drying, I’ll hang the plants in my tent and aim for 20°C and 60% relative humidity. Let’s see how it goes—I’m excited to see the final result. Stay tuned for updates!

it's amazing, this growth looks much better than my first attempt, my decision was to put a smaller pot and change the light - the girl really liked it, FastBuds goriilla cookies with a small space manage perfectly:).
