🍰 Lava Cake – Final Harvest & Smoke Report GrowDiaries | Week 8 (Harvest & Cure) After months of dedication, lessons, and love, our Lava Cake journey comes to a close — and what an ending it is. Both phenotypes reached maturity beautifully, wrapped in dense, resin-coated buds that carry the unmistakable aroma of sweetness and spice. 🌱 From Seed to Harvest — A Journey in Full Bloom Our Lava Cake journey began from seed with two unique phenotypes, both full of potential and personality. Week after week, through careful nutrition, TrolMaster monitoring, and endless observation, we watched them evolve. From the early stages of vegetative vigor, through the lush canopy of mid-flower, and even through the challenges of heat and bud rot, these girls showed true resilience. Each setback taught something — about balance, airflow, humility, and the living rhythm of nature. Both plants were ultimately harvested with respect and gratitude. ⸻ ✂️ Harvest & Trimming After about two weeks of slow drying at 60°F / 60% RH, the branches began to snap — a sure sign the moisture was just right. Each plant was trimmed by hand, carefully and patiently, letting every calyx, pistil, and trichome tell its own story. The buds were dense, sticky, and heavily frosted — a trimmer’s delight. Finger hash collected along the way was pure gold, rich in aroma and bursting with terpenes. Each snip of the scissors felt like sculpting something sacred. Both plants were dried whole, allowing for slower moisture migration and a smoother final cure. ⸻ 🌿 On Trichomes and Harvest Timing We chose to harvest when most trichomes were cloudy, with only a few still clear and very few amber. This moment — just before full amber maturity — is where potency meets flavor at its peak. Why cloudy trichomes? Because that’s when cannabinoids like THC and terpenes are at their maximum activity. Too early, and you lose potency; too late, and THC starts converting into CBN, giving a heavier, sleepier effect. Cloudy trichomes deliver a balanced high — euphoric yet grounding — capturing the essence of the strain in its full potential. ⸻ 🌸 Aroma, Taste & Effects The Lava Cake lives up to her name and lineage. Her rich terpene profile brings waves of sweet baked goods, layered with berry and grape undertones inherited from her Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies x Grape Pie heritage. When smoked, she’s smooth, creamy, and sweet, leaving a lingering flavor on the palate that feels like dessert for the senses. Together, these methods allowed the buds to cure into perfection — firm, aromatic, and bursting with flavor. ⸻ 🔥 Resin, Hash & Full Spectrum Bar All trim from the grow — not just from Lava Cake — was collected to make a full-spectrum bar using simple, natural heat extraction with hot water in a glass bottle. The result was a potent, sticky, terpene-rich concentrate that perfectly captures the soul of the garden. ⸻ ⚖️ Final Yields • Pheno #1: 144g dry • Pheno #2: 99g dry Both phenotypes displayed amazing bud density and structure. In fact, their sheer weight caused a few branches to snap under their own mass — another reason that influenced our harvest timing. Added side lighting on day 10, 2X30 true watt thin led panels. So now I got 2x100 watt, 1x70 watt and 2X30 watt LED lights for a total of 330 true LED watts. Its very bright. I introduced them too a very light feed solution yesterday when they woke up. They seemed too perk up right after. I have been working on trying to get a time lapse working. I have been testing it and trying to get the bugs worked out. Maybe next week I will have some time lapse footage for you all...Maybe.

The bud smells like candy in a jar! Very impressed with how this lady turn out, took her a little while for the buds to fatten up but I’m glad I gave her a little extra time because she definitely filled out more! Buds are extremely dense & sticky and definitely has a couch lock high! Can’t wait to grow this again using a full nutrient line & see how she does! A good week. Then again any week that doesn't have problems is a good week. Which is what I have just had. I have trimmed some lower dying leaves that were no longer getting any light.. I have super cropped 2 stems just to help shape her in the small environment. I have tucked away (rather than remove) any leaves that are blocking bud sites. I have noticed she is a very thirsty girl perhaps just noticeable next to her white widow sister. She's stiffened up like a tree, she probably won't change much now except for stretching upwards so this will be her final shape really for the next few weeks, while she buds up nice and fat. Crystals are showing around the bud sites A fair few week off yet unfortunately

Gu Guys, she is continuing to develop as she should, however doesn't seem to be stretching all to much even with lower light intensities. I have therefore decided to push the ppfd to roughly 600 and let her finish her pre flower, no matter if she will fill the entire scrog or not. the roots are bit stained, however, this seems to be nutrient related, no slime or smelly roots thus far and it seems like she is constantly shooting out new ones from the net pot. She is going to be a nice little bonsai bush :)

5 week have already passed since the start of the flowering stage. The stunned auto is healed and growing happily and strong with 40cm Both green poison are already really sticky and with lots of the good sugar. The smell is getting really strong too and the buds are going big and fat. Plant height: 40cm The critical + 2.0 are the ones with the strongest smell, but the shortest too with 35cm. The good thing about them is the 14/16 tops they have Finally the skunk 47 wich was an offer and at the beginning, the slowest growing but became the tallest with 45cm. Strong, fruity smell and long and dense buds. Just did the last defoliation on every girls, nothing too heavy and introduced the Plagron Green Sensations. Tell me what you think guys! 📚🌱 Grow Course – Lollipopping (Sweet Mandarine Skittles) 🍬🌈 With Sativa-dominant hybrids like Sweet Mandarine Skittles, you usually don’t need to lollipop too much ✂️. These plants naturally stretch and create a nice light distribution by themselves 🚀🌞. 👉 I only remove the lower shoots that stretched upwards but still don’t receive enough light. Stretching like that is a sign they’re chasing the light – and those can safely go 🌿. For bud sites that didn’t stretch, I focus on the very small flowers at the bottom: ⚖️ Rule of thumb → remove about 1/3 up to max 2/3 of the lowest nodes. May 13th - Day 86: I flipped to flower last Friday, May 10th (3 days ago on Day 83), but the plants received their first bath today. Humidity levels were brought down to a maximum of 61%, and temperatures to a maximum of 28°C (though they reach 33°C when the lights are on, and I can't seem to lower them further). I added a third cycle to the watering automation system, so the plants are now being watered three times a day for one minute each. I defoliated the plants quite heavily as I wasn't able to reach the desired humidity level. I will be gone for a week, maybe even two. Let's see how the babies grow. May 17th - Day 90: I came back today to a disaster. The automated watering system failed for four days, and the dehumidifier kept running, bringing humidity down to 35%, likely resulting in the loss of more than one plant. I'm so disappointed in myself but still keeping my hopes up. I watered everything heavily, trimmed the crispy leaves, sprayed the leaves with pH 6.5 water, and increased the humidity levels in the tent. Will update tomorrow. May 18th - Day 91: Unbelievable. Most of the plants recovered as if nothing happened. Two of them might be dead, but I still have hope. Let's see.

Critical Cure is filling out nicely. Picked most of the inchworms off and have some BT showing up on Monday. She got a ring of Coast of Maine 5-2-4 around her base. I'll have to put up the tomato roof in the next couple weeks!

8 weeks 2 days harvested drying

Hello Diary. The first week of flowering is over, so I started photographing more detailed plants and I will now start photographing on a black background as well, since they are much more interesting and beautiful now. 😍 As seen in the photos, Haze has grown quite large in the first 30 days. It has reached a height of 93 cm which is close to the limit my farm can handle. Given the height of the Box of 180 cm and the distance from the light should be 35 cm, the height of plants up to 110 cm is the maximum acceptability. I hope Haze Berry stops before he reaches those 110cm. 😏 My plan is to do defoliation in a day or two. Watering has become quite difficult due to the amount of leaves and branches but I think it will come in handy to aerate them anyway. The flowers are developing nicely and there are many of them, Haze looks like some weird Christmas tree. 😇 I still add BioBizz as scheduled for the current week and add CalMag but only preventively in a smaller dose. Watering is on average every two to three days. The second Haze (which didn’t sprout on the first try, so is now a week late), I put in the middle and placed a pot underneath to bring it closer to the light. I am satisfied with how the plants are developing, they have good conditions and I think they are enjoying my "Little Farm". 😎 Let’s take a look at what happened this week. 17/10/2020 - Day 24. Watering and changing the light. I added BioBizz according to the schedule for the first week of flowering, I replaced Fish-Mix with Bio-Grow. I still add 1.5 ml / lit of CalMag for prevention. p.H. I dropped to 6.5 with Plagron’s Lemon Kick. After watering I changed the light mode to 20/4. Temp / Humidity on the farm - 25.2 degrees and 41% humidity. 20/10/2020 - Day 27. Watering. Same procedure as three days ago. p.H - 6.5 Temp / Humidity on the farm - 26.2 degrees and 43% humidity. 21/10/2020 - Day 28. Photographing and measuring plant height. Since the beginning of flowering, the motives for painting have doubled :), so the number of photos has increased. Temp / Humidity on the farm - 25.5 degrees and 45% humidity. Haze Berry Auto # 1 - Day 28. - 93 cm Haze Berry Auto # 2 - Day 21. - 50 cm This is it for the first week of flowering, now I still have to do defoliation and then with pleasure follow the development of flowers. ✋Wk 5: Growing like a weed, and max power. 👉2-8 Day 38 for the 3 gallon plant. The plant continues to show noticable growth every time I open the tent. The 1 gallon is 4 days behind total age wise, yet is physically one week ahead of the 3gallon. The pistols appeared 3 days ago on the 1 gallon 4 days ago. I haven't seen any on the 3 gallon yet, I anticipate them in the next 3-4 days. The 3 gallon trunk is getting stout and if the plant stays short I wont be doing much lolly popping and grow a nice little Christmas tree shaped plant. The 1 gallon has a very thick trunk and is actually two inches taller than the 3 gallon plant. Both plants are looking like they are more busy building branches than reaching for the lights, which is preferred, because I'm sure at least one of these plants will eventually challenge the height limits of the tent. I say that because I try to be prepared for the hard situations. What I hope for is they are 35-45" plants max. 👉The diary stats for nutrients on this page will be for the 3 gallon. I included a page from my fertigation log to see the difference in nutrient levels of EC.The 3 gallon plant has remained on the week 3 mix for the nutrients on the General Hydroponics drain to waste nutrient mix chart (late growth). The 1 gallon plant is on the week 4 mix (transition). I will switch 3 gallon to week 4 as soon as the first pistols appear. The 1 gallon will switch to week 5 in the next 2-3 days. The 3 gallon plant gets the EC of the upper end of the recommended nutrient strength. The 1 gallon gets the lowest (or just below) the low end of the recommended EC. THe week neither plant had EC run-off above 30+ of the inflow. Infact the run-off EC of the 3 gallon plant and the 1 gallon plant has been very stable and shows that the plants are really drinking it in! I use enough inflow volume to get 30% of the inflow (minimum), but sometimes I up it just a bit. 👉I have started the grow with the lights dimmed to 75%. 6 days ago I turned both lamps up to 100%. I try to maintain approximately 17" distance from lamp to plants. Both plants are the same height right now (the 1 gallon is in a shorter pot so its 2" taller). The lights have to be raised every 3-4 days now. The heat increased a little bit, but the outdoor temps have been in the low 30s so the overall temp in the tent is the same.
