Growing some seeds I won from Diary of the Month here on Grow Diaries!!! I'm so grateful and excited for another learning experience doing what I love! Thank you, FastBuds! 🙏
Seed was germinated directly in Rapid Rooter placed in a seedling tray. I put her in darkness for 48 hours and then in a sunny window.
Three days later, the seedling's little head poked up and the next day she showed me her first true leaves - calling this day 1.
I kept the seedling tray in a sunny window and brought her outside for lunch on my sunny deck with me for the rest of the week.
Given the heatwave we were having here, I got her settled into her net basket sooner rather than later so that she could have a more stable environment.
This plant will is being grown indoors in an 2x4x8 Gorilla Grow Tent using an 8 gallon Current Culture Solo Bucket under California Lightworks 550 Solar System LED.
For grow media I am using clay pellets and I use the entire Cultured Solutions line of nutrients.
I will be showcasing this plant in a grow tutorial over on my YouTube channel and IGTV where I am going to show a detailed walk through of how I grew my original "Budzilla" plant. Unfortunately, I don't have a grow diary for her, but she is featured on my IG account.
The technique I use I created after harvesting my first grow. I had used low stress training on an autoflower and achieved beautiful results. I took notes the entire grow and conducted a postmortem.
I sincerely advise doing this for EVERY grow - especially when you are learning. It provides you opportunity to figure out what went right, what went wrong, what could have gone better, and what ideas you think you can toss into the mix to try to improve on the places that need revamping.
I did this and I came up with the hypothesis of starting my plant off-center in the net basket, and then growing it low and in a spiral around the outside. In my head, I thought something like this could really push the limits of low stress training, especially when used on an autoflower where we have a limited time of vegetative growth.
I didn't realize, at the time, JUST how effective the technique would be, but when the grower community on IG exploded over the sight of my plant, I started to get a feeling a did something right.
As I was still only growing my second plant in my entire grow career, I was completely oblivious to the fact that I had pushed the normal boundaries of an autoflower.... I had nothing else to really compare it to.
Nearly a year later, photos of my Budzilla are still being shared around social media in the grow community and I still get asked regularly about how I grew her.
And with that, we start here on the journey to attempt the recreation of my former masterpiece. But I'm taking it one step further and giving you a detailed, step-by-step guide so that even the newest of growers can follow along and learn how to push an autoflower to its beautiful edge. Plus.... It's really freaking cool to bonsai a plant 😎.

for me its way too hot ( gonna crash on couch again with some THC oil 2day👊)
but lil Macky loves the warm (hot!) caresses of the sunrays touching her leaves...😎 especially after all the dark days with rain..
as long as she gets enough water and TLC.. she will b ok 👌

Yes it's a very confusing diary, spent to long in Cloner, no where to put her , moved to veg tent in small pot & neglected, hand watered when I remembered.her & another clone brought back from the brink of death & put into DWC , around 9 weeks old but looked about 3 weeks. HST trained them for about 5 to 6 weeks in veg, moved to flowering tent, were 5 weeks into flower & both got root rot.The 2nd plant died saved this 1 by cutting away majority of roots. No point continuing to flower her as she would have greatly been affected, so put her back into veg, transplanted into recirculating hydro & been reveging for 7 weeks 46 days. Started getting new vegative growth over the last month.looking healthy & lush now, planned to put her back into flower with the new plants when they are ready to flower, hopefully she will be worth the effort & time when it comes to harvest, sh is around 24 weeks old!!!

When talking about strains of recent times but already legendary and ready to enter the history of Cannabis, Permanent Marker is a name that cannot be missed. It is very famous and many have produced it, we will show you that it is worth growing the one produced by Zamnesia.
In reality, the beautiful seed pack alone would be worth the purchase but we do not stop at appearances and we will show you that that artistic marvel corresponds to a marvel of nature.
Remember that we are growing a plant worked with the techniques indicated and another left to grow without pruning to preserve its speed; in the previous/next diary you will find the other plant of the same variety.
In this diary we find worked with the Main lining. Being a plant with medium-low internodal distance it was not very easy to work with but especially in the second phase of the main lining (when these plants become a little bigger and you can work better) I am having a lot of fun. The plant is looking very good, I have done a lot of topping and I am sure that now that it is going into flowering we will see some beautiful things.
Slow down the use of nitrogen during this technique, you may not need everything that is recommended by the manufacturers. So, if the leaves become too dark or, worse, the tips of the leaves arch downwards and the leaf becomes "crunchy", it is time to lighten or stop the basic fertilizer.
Comparison is the salt of experience, so the plant in the other diary will be treated very differently, go and see it to compare.
We have started the Plagron fertilization program, we are in 100% organic configuration, the soil is recycled Promix + 1/3 fresh soil + 10% Perlite + RQS Mycorrhizae Mix (4 g in the mix, 1 g under the small fiber pot).
We fertilize with: 1 ml/l Power Roots - 1 ml/l Pure Zym - 1 ml/l Sugar Royal - 3 ml/l Alga Grow
We sprayed 3 ml/l Vita Race foliar fertilizer once a week.

Watered twice this week, starting to see more of the pistils turn amber but still low levels of clouding on the trichomes.

This was a great grow, learning new plants and genetics, Spliff seed is very solid and you can expect the same consistency each seed. I want to grow them all and see if they all fall into place with their signature work!

Day 71. Girls are still stretching !!! Will supercrop biggest Blue Dream this Monday or maybe Sunday if i am lucky. I think next watering is on Saturday and it takes 2 days , so i can do it only before watering, less damage to plant and hopefully quicker recovery !!!
But they reach sky, so no other way !
This week will be updated after main actions.

Day 72. Supercrop and watering day, before this - plants look amazing, but they reach sky and will go hermie in shade most of the time.

Job done ! Moved monster to the corner and supercroped her hard, left two colas untouched. Think Blue Dream #2 could need same drastic measures ;)))
All girls got feed, raised lights to max. Hope stretch is over, otherwise half of harvest larva buds and i already cleared plants heavily ...
One more round of defoliation for sure !
Day 75. Blue Dream took supercroping like nothing, still reduced watering on 25% for two goes, tops already standing up, leaves reverted to new horizont and hopefully no bananas !!! ;))
Girls got water with CalMag and video is straight after last round, i water in 3 rounds, 30 min inbetween, have no run off most of the time.

The apparent potassium deficiency has got me worried about how to get some into the plants ASAP. Therefore, I have purchased some Xpert Nutrients Bloom Booster, courtesy of Amazon Prime! Sadly, this seems to be of inorganic nature. However, I need to rectify the issue quickly, so this seemed the best option.
Another possibility is light burn, as the plants have grown as tall as my tent! 6ft! So I have turned down the lighting to 60%. This seems quite likely as my FBP2 is considerably shorter than FBP1 and FBP3, and this plant does not have the same issues.
The new dehumidifier has managed to get the RH down to around 49%. Considering it was up to 99% this week. I definitely am trying my best to avoid the dreaded bud rot!
I added a large amount of Silica as the stems are decreasing in strength under the weight, so hopefully that will help. Additionally a Potassium deficiency itself can cause weaker stems, so I'm trying everything, (possibly overkill) to correct my oversights on this.
All in all I've learnt many things from this 1st grow. Most importantly the necessity of LST, to prevent the plants from getting so tall, and that will avoid the light stress.
The trichomes are still mostly clear through the jewellers loupe. From what I can tell as my eyesight isn't too good. It's difficult to tell milky from clear to me.
21.8.24;
I just did a defoliation, I removed many more leaves today 🍃 things are getting super crowded in the 4x4, even with both tent doors open. I adjusted the plants, alternating so that each side of each plant gets correct lighting (as best I can manage)!
I gave the plants each;
*1ml in 1ltr of dechlorinated water, of Ecothrive Flourish.
**2ml in 1ltr of dechlorinated water of Xpert Nutrients Bloom Booster.
****2ml in 1ltr of dechlorinated water, of Cal-Mag.
My fan also broke, so I moved my lounge fan into the grow room. It's a lot more powerful, even on the lowest setting, so I tried to disperse it trying as best as possible.

The bottom buds were done and getting amber, I thought of partial harvesting but the math didn't match and leaving the main cola didn't make sense so I chopped her down. Will be back 3 weeks after she's dried with the smoke report
