2025-10-15 🌿 This is the first time I've grown Black Russian from Delicious Seeds, and I am positively surprised! 🤩 Great plant structure, very good bud size, easy to grow and harvest—and she's sooooooo beautiful. 💜 The season was kind of rough for the plants 🌧️❄️, but they had great conditions. T hey were sitting in a fluffy bed of enriched soil mix, full of beneficials like microorganisms, mycorrhizae, and microbacteria. 🍄 The soil bed is prepared in autumn the year before 🍂 and refreshed in springtime 🌱, so the ladies can dig in deep and grow like queens. 👑 This year I added 2 SCROGS—and that was very good. ✨ They were also covered by a roof 🏠, which was very necessary this season because it was very cold and rainy in spring and summer, with only a few weeks of lots of sun and heat. ☀️🔥 I think that's the reason all my outdoor ladies took 4 weeks longer to mature. How did you create/breed Freakshow? A. Methodical selection, line breeding, and culling is the short answer. Read our About page for more details. Q. Is it an indoor or outdoor type? A. Everything I've ever worked has been outdoors, including of course Freakshow. It has been our experience that outdoor (or sun grown, as it's recently being referred to) cultivars seem to perform extremely well under artificial conditions. In the case of Freakshow, it's much more limited because the ancestry is largely older "Sativas" that didn't go through as much outcrossing. In the 70s in Santa Cruz, Haze was a favorite among surfers for the pure energy and I still have (greatly improved) stock of it around, simply because even when I made hybrids with it I always kept the original in pure form for obvious reasons. Q. What is the psychoactive effect like? A. Like the flavors, many people have commented that the "buzz" is somewhat different than other mainstream types out there. It's not entirely out of the scope of imagination that given that this strain has new alleles in so many other respects, that it could also contain new, unique cannabinoids, as well as new and unique terpenoids, some of which may not even be among the standard 16 or so that the average lab is testing for. Aside from the up, cerebral, energetic boost, some report a mild time/space warp effect. Creativity and idea induction should be mentioned, for sure. Freakshow has the pure energy effect and greatly alters perception to the positive side, so definitely destroys depression. Appetite suppression is a side effect, but the enjoyment of food is enhanced. I personally will attest to all of the above. We all have different receptor profiles, so these are just generalizations. This includes 0botritis, PM, various mites and insects, soil fungus, etc. We haven't heard any complaints along those lines so far, so if anyone has any problems, especially with a rigorous IPM regimen in place, we would like to hear about it. And if anyone can attest to the extreme level of resistance it seems to have we'd love to hear about that as well. Q. Does it contain web-leaf genetics? A. I thought I better clarify this because there are a few people thinking that because of an article "Growing Marijuana that Doesn't look like Marijuana" that mentions that I had worked web-leaf types years ago and had eventually turned that into Freakshow. This is incorrect and I'm needing to get ahold of the writer to have him change it. When I read the piece and saw the mistake I figured it didn't matter that much, that the actual method of breeding could just remain a "trade secret". Recently, I noticed online that a posting, "Freakshow only exists because of duckfoot" by Curious Cannabis Connoisseur, where he explains how I developed Freakshow using Duckfoot. Let me explain, about 20 yrs. ago a friend gave me a jar of seeds labeled "BC Bigbud" and I sprouted flats of hundreds to look for oddities and had found one web-leaf pheno which we named Webster. It was a female so I bred it to a normal leaf male and began selecting and stabilizing a line of Webster. About 5 or 6 generations later I had nailed it to 100% webs and had also stabilized it for a deep purple color and a nice "gingerbread" terp profile. I was busy working other lines at that point so I put Webster in the library. Also, I was having a hell of a time getting a pheno of it that flowered to my satisfaction. (it seemed to finish with a limited number of calyxes). I knew I would have to outcross it to something with a big tasty bud and restabilize it for web-leaf, and I no longer had the original BC Bigbud. I still have the Webster seeds, and trust me the thought has crossed my mind to make the cross with Freakshow, but why? Why mess around crossing things just to create something even weirder? I have heard that the "Duckfoot" also doesn't bud up well so maybe there's a correlation there. Anyway, people can do what they want to and I will too, but crossing Freakshow with some low-THC crap like ABC is in my opinion idiotic. I worked extremely hard stabilizing and perfecting a beautiful new subspecies and I believe it should be kept pure. I won't go on a rant here about the rampant crossing and the lack of line-breeding in the cannabis world in the last several decades, or where this will eventually lead us, but I will say that it's not in a good direction. Bottom line....Freakshow has no web-leaf genes, it was made using top-grade tropical narrow-leaf drug (NLD) cultivars. Q.Why is Freakshow patented? A. The two blueberry autos are coming along great! They are just now starting to fade out but trichomes for the most part are still clear and cloudy. I’m guessing these girls will be ready in about 1-2.5weeks! When I open the door I get a really pleasant burst of a fruity cereal type smell. It’s comparable to something like crunch berries or as other growers have noticed fruity pebbles 🍓🥣 Right now I’m just feeding the girls spring water, with a little bit of Alaska humus (around 15ml/5L), molasses, fish sh!t and great white. I let this aerate for around 12-36hr. Unfortunately while moving the pot one of the branches snapped under its own weight. The entire plant needs to be supported now as it’s leaning a good amount from the weight being packed on!

Smells and tastes awesome. The 3 week veg + 1 gal pots resulted in small yield. Otherwise great first try.

Week 2 of veg and the plants are looking healthy and growing. It took the plants a good few days to get over the transplant shock. I understand now why you don't transplant auto-flowering plants. Day 13 of Veg: The plants are looking healthy and producing new growth.

Training again. I spread out all side branches so the plant will now collect about 4 square metres of sun. It looks pretty crazy with central branches 6 ft up and side branches flat to each side. Did some defoliation as well. Still very healthy but I had to go through carefully to remove some annoying inch worms.

Day 56 - She grew 9cm this week. She is a large plant, very bushy. Lots of flower sites forming. Day 56 - Tent configuration changed: 4x more CREE CXB3590's have been added and 4x blurple LED things removed. Lights now consist of 8x CXB3590's & 1x 1000W HID with flower bulb.

Day 44 - March 25, 2021 Started noticing a couple gnats in our house. It's been warm outside and they are starting to come out. Unfortunately saw some in the room as well and can only assume there are many more feeding on the ladies. Gave foliar spray using Bee Safe Organicide. Gave all the girls a thorough haircut today and worked on trying to get canopy under control. Vegatation was very thick. Doesn't look like deficency issue with F7 is spreading. Continuing to watch for any changes indicating the problem is still ongoing. Also found 4 of 5 fan leaves with Calcium deficiency over the last couple of days. Runoff is PH 5.8 and EC is 0.78. EC in runoff has been very low. I'm pretty confident it's not a PH issue at this point. Seems plants are rapidily soaking up the nutrients in the water. I also found 8 or 9 fan leaves with slight nutrient burn a few days ago. Nutrient burn seems to have tapered off and haven't noticed any spreading. Going to try adding an additional watering to the schedule to see what happens. I'm hesitant to mix stronger nutrients due to nutrient burn I started to see earlier this week. At the same time, need to figure out the cause of the nutrient deficiencies. I'm currently using the Light Feeding Schedule from Mills Nutrients (says "light", but is still 2.06 EC including 0.54 EC for water + CalMag) Need to switch to flower soon but need to figure out deficiency issues before the switch. Defoliation: * Removed quite a bit of fan leaves suffocating nodes. Girls are 10lbs lighter. Despite the nutrient issues, the girls have been filling out fast. Did a timelapse over the past couple days and can see significant growth in a short period. Plants are doing quite well in the 1 gallons with the drip irrigation. My only issue is that my timer keeps resetting and I have to keep paying attention to make sure the plants don't get dehydrated. Blueberry Muffin is super quick with flowering. She produces pistils super aggressively in the begining.

Going onto week 2 of flower! These were taken dec28, so day 8 of flower. So far looking fine though a bit dehydrated. This one definitely is water hungry now and needs to be watered every other day now. We'll see how she comes along into the next few weeks. D6 of this week (d13 of flower), and we can start to see flowers coming in a teensy bit. We are still watering every 2 -3 days. On D7 we did a slightly premature feed of the flower girl fertilizer.
