11 Sep Day 78 - Good development. Stems thickening up. Day 79 - Slight spray to leaves. Day 81 - Slight trim of some fan leaves. pH good, sprayed leaves Day 82 - LST Tightened to open grow up to allow more light. 500 ml water added. Fans moved Day 83 - Added Nutrients Day 84 - All good. Red Veins and stems appeared.

Most of the week was spent setting up the hydro grow. Needed to build a DIY chiller since air temp in our grow room is hot, and water needs to be a good deal colder. Fridge from kijiji, garden hose, fittings, and submersible pump all in were under $100 but knowing what I know now I'd likely go with a thermoelectric chiller (DIY, with power supply and temp controller) next time around. Looking forward to tracking metrics and seeing how it goes :). Seems there's a lot of contradiction in terms of level of nutrients recommended, max water temperature, using H2O2 to boost water temp that can keep algae and rot at bay, etc. Got my hands on some Hydroguard via Amazon... despite local shops saying you can't get it in Canada... so I'm going to go with that instead of H2O2 to start, despite water temp getting up above 21 C (70 f) during the day. Fingers crossed. Update - keeping water reservoir tank under 20 C now by using reflective bubble wrap insulation on the reservoir itself and pipe insulation as well. It's a 10 C difference from the room temp, so I'm SUPER pleased with that.

For some reason it won't let me add smoke report or final dry weight. She had a yeild of 135grams dry. Unfortunately a stuff up with the light timer produced slightly looser, airy buds. Quality was ok nothing special.

D28 - The first day in the fourth week of veg. She is now 18 cm tall, and I'll start doing some low-stress training this week. I trimmed the cover crop today as it was a bit all over the place. I gave her around 1.2-liters of the compost tea I started brewing yesterday, and for once, I remembered to check the pH and adjust it to 6.5. Yay, progress! D31 - Today, I finally got around to doing some low-stress training. I should have done it ages ago, and I don't even have a good reason for not having done it, but hey, better late than never. Right? D32 - She is bouncing back nicely from the training yesterday. Starting to smell a bit so I got the active carbon filter installed. D34 - The last day in the fourth week of veg and the final day as she is in flower now. I did some more LST, as well as defoliation and cover crop trim to increase airflow.

At the beginning of the week the plants was so dried, maybe near death. I give them water and some nutrients, and in two days It have regeined strength. I'm very curious to see the final weigth.

Harvest: Everything dried up to 347 grams + 96 grams of super high quality trim. Overall I am not too pleased with the smoke of the product. Although the bud size, bag appeal, smell and taste are pretty much all there, the shitty burn is a deal breaker for me and the majority of this weed is quite frankly useless. Another downside is while smoking I’ve found 4 seeds in an ounce from almost every strain. Light leaks? At least I learned a ton, including how to get super good burn for my next crop. I’m hoping that curing for a month or so will improve the burn but I wouldn’t really count on it. I have seen weed dried for 4 days with no cure and no flush smoke clean and not go out once. I have been told that the key to white ashes/clean burn is proper mineral content in the soil and there is tons of scientific studies on cigar ash going back 100 years. Plants grown in a medium with high levels of decomposing organic matter, phosphorus, magnesium, chlorine and heavy metal ratio tend to produce black/grey ash. Whereas plants grown in a medium with a higher ratio of trace minerals like calcium carbonate and potassium in the form of wood ash, rock dusts, oyster shell flour and lower levels of decomposing organic matter will produce a dense, uniform white ash that rarely goes out. But this is still all theory until I test it to confirm for myself a few times. My last few outdoor harvests did not improve with curing at all so I’m hoping this will be the missing link. Plain peat moss and coco clearly lack essential minerals that help burn. If said theory is correct I should find a synthetic nutrient line with more trace minerals. Makes me wonder if growing if rockwool/basalt rock could improve burn in a hydro setup. I think I did a fairly decent job for my first grow. I went wrong in a million different places but I still stuck it out and got some decent herb. Things went wrong early when I got black spot mold, nitrogen/magnesium deficiencies and powdery mildew. I corrected most of it but things didn’t get really bad until mid veg when I intentionally skipped a few feedings and defoliated quite heavily stunting the plants. I also didn’t even top or start LST until the 6-9th node which was really stupid and hurt my yield. My temperatures were all over the place from the learning curve. I was severely overwatering without realizing it. 100% peat moss is a shitty medium. I also fed way too late in flower (not what caused shitty burn). I also used synthetic nutrients in soil. Heute habe ich beschlossen, meinen ersten Anbauversuch durch Abschneiden der Pflanzen zu beenden. Obwohl es mein erster Grow war, konnte ich viel über diese faszinierende Pflanze lernen, auch wenn der Ertrag eher gering ausfiel. Ich habe keineswegs vor aufzugeben. Nach meinem Umzug und den damit verbundenen Veränderungen plane ich, erneut zu starten – diesmal mit einer besseren Ausrüstung und einem größeren Zelt, um mein neues Hobby weiter zu vertiefen. Besonderheiten: wir versuchen bei diesem Grow Effektive Mikroorganismen aus. -Tag 49 Heute wurde sie mit mineralischen Dünger gegossen -Tag 51 wir haben ihr wieder etwas Dünger gegeben und den Runoff gemessen und er ist leicht erhöht 2.6 mS/cm 😱 -Tag 53 heute hat sie nur Wasser bekommen, wieder Runoff gemessen 0.62 mS/cm 😌 -Tag 55 Mac 1 hat heute wieder etwas Dünger bekommen, so ungefähr 3 Wochen hat sie noch
