First attempt at defoliating today to expose additional bud sites. I’ve seen mixed thoughts on the topic, and in the spirit of trying things out I pulled the trigger. I anticipate a bit of stunting in the short term, but hoping for increased bud density down the line. Increasing dark time in hopes of increased florine, or whatever the flowering hormone is. Again, trying things out. She’s looking great though.

March 28th: She's still standing. I tried to take some trichome shots, but i'm not sure how well they are. It's my first shot at it, so cut me some slack! I gave about two gallons of water this week. I'm not sure if she's still drinking a lot, or if the pot getting dry faster is due to a few degree increase in temperature. All of the water was straight well water, not pH'ed. Which reminds me: pH of water doesn't matter when using living soil. The pH of the Soil is what matters. pH in hydroponics makes sense because the water is where your plants will pick up nourishment. The medium for hydro IS the water, which means your water needs proper pH. In soil, the pH is due to all the calcium, magnesium, micro and macro nutrients and minerals that are in it. That will create a pH in your soil. Now, you can also get a high pH in your soil due to sodium build-up. This isn't what you're looking for, as sodium build-up in soil is a no-no. Now, for the fun fact: If you have a low pH in your soil because you don't have enough calcium, pH'ing your water isn't going to do anything. You gotta fix the soil problem, which will correct the pH of the soil, and trying to use pH'ed water isn't the solution. You'd have to add more calcium to your soil to fix it. Anyway. Light intensity is still at 100%. As you can see, i've got some floppy branches on this cultivar. I gotta admit, i love when branches start floppin' around. It tells me that the plant is close to harvest! Just gotta wait on those trichomes to get a few more amber, then she'll be ready to chop. She's still only showing fade ever so slightly. The purple hue is nice, but i wish it would become a bit more pronounced. Maybe it will over the next few days. EDIT: Edited to add a picture of the full plant and a video that didn't upload when i made this week's entry.

EM#1: I can hardly believe that she weighed less than WW#1..she towered over her and her buds were as big..just not as dense I guess. Her main cola was a little over a foot and weighed 110g wet. I guess she just had a higher leaf-to-calyx ratio and leaves weigh a lot less... She was a desirable EM pheno..dense, stocky, sturdy branches, very resinous...just a little too leafy. Her total dry weight was 77g. Update 9/2: 11 days of curing and it's starting to really wreak when I open the jar. Very pungent..hints of ammonia in the jar and has that sweet skunky smell when incinerated. I set fire to it today and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It's got that same earthy taste I remember from when it was first dry, but with "herbal" tones on the aftertaste. The buzz is a really intense head high for about 5 minutes, then levels out to a good body stone. I like it. A lot. EM#4: My tablet died and I was unable to get any photos of her being harvested. Her big bent main cola weighed 115g wet and was about a foot long if you straightened it out.. All the extra branching caused by the failed FIM and super-cropping really paid off. This plant smells AWESOME...very exotic/spicy. Smells great, tastes great, excellent buzz... she was just too tall and lanky and a pain to deal with.. Her total dry weight was 101g. Update: 8/28 - I'm determined not to smoke any more of her until next week and she's better cured....well...maybe just a little....no, not until next week...well, maybe tomorrow... Update 9/2: I smoked some more today and wasn't as thrilled with it as the first time..maybe because I had just smoked some EM#1 ;-) EM#2: She is dead and drying! Her main cola was a bit shorter than EM#1's, 11 inches, but was fatter and weighed 121g, wet. One of her other colas weighed 100g. She's very similar to EM#1 (kinda leafy), so I expect her to really lose a lot of water weight. I'm guessing she'll weigh around 85g dry...time will tell. Update 9/4: Total dry weight: 91g It's only been curing for 2 days, but had to sample it. Bam! This plant was my favorite tasting EM of the crop thus far. Same great taste as EM#4, but even more pungent. I smoked about 6 quick bong rips and got a nice uplifting head buzz for an hour that leveled off to a good mellow body buzz for another hour or so. EM#3: update 9/2: She might actually finish in about 10 days or so. Plenty of time to hit her again with cha ching, terpinator, and bud candy... update 9/10: HARVESTED! This plant took more than 4 man-hours to manicure and took three 18" drying baskets. So many buds. I will be amazed if she comes in any less than 150g of dried bud which would be amazing, but considering her space requirements and duration of bloom, probably not worth it...smell, taste, and effect could still sway my opinion.. update 9/14: Total dry weight: 224g!!! (Half-pounder!) 74g of that was lower-grade bud which I'll use to make confections and e-liquid. Took a couple bong rips..she got me stoned, but she needs to cure. Still a little green-tasting.

These girls are all doing great. The one that topped itself is going great looks so fat already. 1 has a weird top and 1 took on like a sideways growth. But they are all doing perfect. Going to take clones soon since they about a month old then will be getting flower tent ready. Time to choose what genotype is the best out of this strain. Atleast in this first half of beans. Finally my last harvest of this season and i have to say, Mac finished it like the queen she is.😎👌 No, her yield was not the biggest (she was in 6.5L pot so ..) but the taste is just exquisite! its sweet and earthy .. and the effects are very balanced 👍 Its a hybrid but feel i can still take a nap after a big vape (i tested her yesterday afternoon as well)..so i think indica is the dominat one here.. not sure though.. could also just b i vaped too much (or used too much THC oil yesterday😉 ) Buds are very compact and frosty... am very happy with this lady.. beautiful flowers she had with all kinds of soft violet and pink colours.. I had to harvest a bit early bc weather was getting very bad and my greenhouse/safehouse was kaput..(note 2 self: buy new cover!) But that only resulted in me throwing the lower buds away (another note 2 self: next year, do some HST!) I can def. recommend her, a beautiful plant to grow and so smooth to vape! She did great in my lil'garden in Amsterdam with very few sunrays and lots of rain (yeah but i am content. for amsterdam standards it was great👊) Luckily no caterpillers or WPM this year .. (butterflies knew they where NOT welcome here, with all the demons in my garden 😁.. see diaries of my big demons😉) The end of summer was real smooth as well, she was able to be in garden till middle of september!🙌 So time 2 hibernate.. I am not on facebook instagram twitter etc All accounts except this one are fake. Harvest day 73 since the time change to 12/12 hrs. Hey guys :-) Finally the time has come . The lady was harvested. After the trichomes have been checked (70% milky 30% amber) as always, it was left in complete darkness for 48 hours before it was neatly trimmed by hand. After trimming, she was put back in the drying tent on nets. There they are allowed to dry for the next 8-12 days at 62% humidity before they are put into the jar to ferment with 62% boveda packs. After about 4-6 weeks in the jar I will swap the 62% boveda pack for a 58% boveda pack where it can be ready for another 4-6 weeks to enjoy :-). As always, the remains of the leaves are used to make Ice o Lator and oil. Of course, as always, there is a final update during the fermentation process.
