Day 21 Veg: Hi all. Hope we are all free and healthy in the grow diaries community this week. It has been a very enjoyable and productive week this week. The purple monkey are gaining a nice size and taking to training really well. Their bases are getting thicker and i am now seeing small white female hairs at their bracts. I think flowering is very close now on these ladies. All three are looking very healthy and green with no signs of any issues to worry about so far. They are all reaching the pots edges with their side branches now so should make a decent sized canopy and bush after the stretch has finished. I did strip lower, small tips out too so that air can reach all of their budsites from underneath too. Banana Mash is a little behind the monkey so far and has no real gender signs yet. The mutant is growing out a little better now but is still looking odd. I have included 3 seeds that came from my last exotic run and where in some of thenbuds that I harvested. I suspect a lemon mimosa xhicked some pollen before I took her/he down and it hit all of the strains except 1. I now have about 100 seeds crossed with the mimosa lemon amd have kept each seed batch separate so I can have some idea of at least the mothers genetics if mimosa isn't daddy !!. They are also doing really well with the Mango cream X being the best looking so far. be interesting to see if they remain autos of just keep growing as photoperiod. I am adding the Megacrop to feeds now as I approach flowering and plan to germinate the next exotic goodies to join the second harvest. ( to follow...) They are all being trained now amd have taken to the idea quite well. I did have a snap on one of the Purple monkey ladies but tape should rescue the buds on that limb hopefully. So there we have it , another good week with plenty to do and the next week should hopefully see the start of some flowering stretch to wrestle with as they explode with growth. lol be well growmies.

🌸 Lava Cake – Week 5 Flower Report 🌸 We’ve reached Week 5 of flower — such an important and defining stage in the Lava Cake journey. Both phenos are shining, evolving beautifully, and filling the room with life and energy. It’s a week full of growth, observations, and some lessons to share. ⸻ 🌿 Current Status • Both plants are looking healthy, vigorous, and branching strong. • White hairs (pistils) continue to thicken and spread — the first signs of real bud-building. • Leaves show some spots, likely a touch of CalMag deficiency. This is not uncommon at this stage, as the plants’ demands for calcium and magnesium rise sharply during heavy metabolic activity. To support them, I’ve kept the full nutrient recipe steady this week and reintroduced Aptus All-in-One Liquid to strengthen the nutritional foundation and bounce them back quickly. ⸻ 💧 Nutrient Recipe (Week 5) • Aptus Regulator – cell wall support & stress resistance • Aptus CalMag Boost – to address spotted leaves and support photosynthesis • Aptus All-in-One Liquid – reintroduced this week to balance the base nutrition and help recovery from early deficiency signs • Plagron Power Buds, Sugar Royal & Green Sensation – pushing bud development, resin, and flavor complexity ⚠️ Note on feeding adjustments: This week we removed Top Booster from the mix. While it’s a great stimulator during certain flower stages, running it alongside Power Buds, Sugar Royal, and Green Sensation risks overlapping too much PK. Too much of a good thing can cause stress, salt build-up, or nutrient lockouts. By keeping the recipe focused and balanced, the Lava Cakes can thrive without overload. ⸻ 🌡️ Environment • Temperatures: Lower this week (relief!) thanks to cooling efforts. • Humidity: Still running a little high, sometimes hovering beyond the ideal. • Airflow: Two 6-inch exhausts + intake, all carbon filtered. This, along with fans inside, should keep the air moving and avoid stagnant moisture pockets. ⚠️ Note: Higher humidity at this stage can invite mold or mildew risks, but with strong airflow and constant air renewal, we’re reducing the chances. If issues arise, we’ll face them directly and adjust. ⸻ 🎥 Media Update This week includes: • Outside photoshoots – capturing their beauty under LED light. • Close-ups – showing detail of leaves, bud sites, and trichome sparkle starting to appear. • Video clips – giving a fuller view of the room, the setup, and how the girls are thriving. ⸻ 🔄 Quick Recap for New Readers From seed in the Cannakan ➝ early veg under Black Series LED ➝ transplant into 11L fabric pots with Aptus super soil base ➝ branching and stretching under TrollMaster-controlled environment ➝ to now, Week 5 of flower, where the Lava Cakes are stacking up and turning into queens. Each step has been intentional: careful watering from below to build root strength, dialing in nutrients, setting up airflow, and slowly stabilizing environment. ⸻ 🔮 What to Expect (and Not to Expect) Expect: • Continued flower stacking and calyx swelling over the next two weeks. • Aroma development beginning to intensify. • Slight yellowing or spotting on older leaves (normal as energy redirects to flowers). Not to Expect: • Full bulk yet — this comes in the later weeks, especially 6–8. • Perfect leaves everywhere — in flower, the plant focuses on buds, not flawless foliage. ⸻ 🌎 Closing Thoughts Week 5 is about listening and responding. The Lava Cakes showed us some leaf spots, and in return, we adjusted by reintroducing All-in-One Liquid while simplifying the booster recipe. Removing Top Booster avoids nutrient overlap and keeps the focus on a clean, balanced mix. This isn’t just about correcting deficiencies — it’s about preparing them for the heavier bloom demands to come. With lower temperatures, steady airflow, and a carefully tuned recipe, the girls are thriving. Every day brings more white hairs, more structure, and more anticipation for what’s ahead. ⸻ 🔬 Science Spotlight: Nutrient Antagonism One of the biggest hidden challenges in mid-flower is nutrient antagonism — when too much of one element blocks the uptake of another. • Excess phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) (often from bloom boosters) can interfere with calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) absorption. This can show up as leaf spotting, rust marks, or weakened stems even if those nutrients are technically present in the soil. • By removing Top Booster this week, we reduced the PK load and allowed CalMag supplementation to actually reach the plant without being locked out. • Balance always beats excess. The goal is steady, accessible nutrition, not maxing out one element. This principle is key to avoiding deficiencies during bloom: feed enough, but not too much of any one thing. ⸻ 🔬 Trichome Spotlight If you look closely at the close-ups this week, you’ll notice the first tiny crystals beginning to coat the flowers and nearby leaves. These are trichomes — microscopic resin glands that play a central role in the plant’s defense, flavor, and potency. ✨ What are trichomes? Trichomes are specialized structures on the plant’s surface that produce and store secondary metabolites: • Cannabinoids (like THC, CBD, CBG) • Terpenes (the aromatic compounds that give unique smells and flavors) • Flavonoids (contributing to color, taste, and subtle effects) Essentially, trichomes are the plant’s biochemical factories. 🌿 Why are they appearing now? In early flower, the plant begins to shift its energy from vegetative growth to reproduction and protection. Trichomes serve several evolutionary purposes: • Protection from UV light – the resin acts like sunscreen. • Pest deterrence – sticky, bitter compounds discourage insects. • Moisture regulation – resin helps buffer against stress. That’s why, right as buds begin to stack, you see an explosion of these glittering glands. 🔮 What to expect as they develop? • Density will increase week by week, eventually frosting the buds and sugar leaves. • Color will change: clear → cloudy/milky → amber. These stages are often used to decide harvest timing. • Aroma will intensify as terpenes concentrate, bringing out Lava Cake’s dessert-like profile. 🍯 The chemistry inside • Terpenes – molecules like limonene (citrus), myrcene (earthy), and caryophyllene (spicy). They don’t just shape aroma; they influence the entourage effect, modulating how cannabinoids feel. • Flavonoids – often overlooked, but they add subtle notes to flavor and can have antioxidant properties. • Cannabinoids – still forming now, but ramping up in mid-to-late flower. 🌸 Why this matters Seeing trichomes appear in such numbers this early is a sign of plant health and genetic quality. It means the Lava Cakes are channeling their energy toward flower defense and resin production — exactly what we want in a premium run. From here, it’s all about nurturing them without stress so trichomes can fully mature, delivering not just potency, but flavor and aroma complexity at harvest. They’re queens in the making — and with patience, love, and attention, they’ll reward us with something truly special. 🌸✨ 📲 Don’t forget to Subscribe and follow me on Instagram and YouTube @DogDoctorOfficial for exclusive content, real-time updates, and behind-the-scenes magic. ~July 5th-July 11~ 🌡️Temp: 🌞78-84 , 🌚74-80 💨Humidity: 🌞80-95%, 🌚70-90% 💡Lights: 🌞18h/6h🌚, 22’ from 🌱, PPFD approx-275 🌬️Airflow: 2 small oscillating fans and a 200cfm inline fan+carbon filter First set of pics from day 10, second from 14 ~Day 8~ Plants growing good. 2nd largest leaves were curled and figured I overwatered so I’ll leave them for a few days until soil is dry. The sprout I found trapped under soil is now replanted so there is 5 sprouts from the 10 random seeds. The only feminized seeds has been planted as well. ~Day 9~ Everything is growing great! The 2 smallest sprouts from the original 4 are showing signs of weird leaf growth but that’s to be expected with random seeds. The 2 larger ones are doing good but ones leaves are still curled. New sprout is doing great with first true leaves coming in. Fem seed hasn’t sprouted yet. ~Day 10~ Everything is looking great today. The new sprout is growing good and I have high hopes for the not yet sprouted fem seed. The 2 larger sprouts are still growing and 1s leaves are still curling but the soil is still moist so I’m waiting in the hopes I just overwatered. The 2 smaller sprouted still have weird leaves coming in. ~Day 11~ The fem seed still hasn’t spotted but the other plants look good, the new sprout is healthy and growing while the 2 larger sprouts are still growing but drooping a bit. Other sprout still is growing weird leaves but looks healthy. The burnt tips stem looks very weak and almost constricted and I have hope for it but I think it’s out of my control. This was to be expected with random seeds.. ~Day 12~ Unfortunately the sprout with burnt tips died and with further inspection it seems the seed lining suffocated the stem as it grew and it eventually died when it couldn’t get water and nutrients from its tiny stem. Other plants are doing good, slight leaf drooping still by the 2 largest plants which happen to be in the smallest pots so I really think they got overwatered and will bounce back because growth still looks healthy. Had to put larger downs on the 2 big sprouts because they were getting too big for their last bottle dome. Humidifier is also working great and keeping the tent RH about 75-85%. ~Day 13~ Plants look good I really hope the drooping stops with the 2 larger plants but they still look healthy, the weird mutated growth continues but it is growing more normal leaves now. The new sprout is doing good and the seed still hasn’t quite popped up but I can see it’s top through the soil. Took the domes off the larger sprouts now that the RH is constant and introduced them to the oscillating fans to promote healthy stems and help circulate air to promote growth and hopefully help dry the soil out a bit faster so they don’t get root rot. ~Day 14~ Plants are looking good, although under further inspection the newest seed didn’t make it which was the only feminized one of the bunch, not sure exactly what happened but it never was able to make it through the soil. The 3 other plants are showing slight signs of a deficiency or overwater as shown in the pictures so I’m definitely still waiting to water but going to start nutes next feed when they are better. Adjusted the lights to make sure the 4 remaining plants are all ok. The smallest sprout is also doing great.

————-DAY 22 of flower—————- Alright stretch is all wrapped at this point. Did a little bit of defol just cuz things were getting cramped on the interior of the plants. Having to really watch run off on these girls. Couple signs of mildew 🤦‍♂️ Ugh - been months since I’ve had a lick of mildew and it starts up now. Lots of reasons probably - weather and shit outside. Just turned furnace on for the first time it’s kicking up all types of shit from inside the ducts. Upped ArmorSi cuz silica is supposed to help with WPM. Pheno 1 & 4 are largest two. Pheno 1 has more lateral branching into even canopy. 2 is middle child as far as size. 3 caught up actually after some late stretching. All are about the same nutrient wise except for 1 - she’s the odd one out as far as morphology in some respects. Also as I started saying is showing different needs as far as nutrients. Showing some calcium deficiency in the last week. Overall so impressed with these genetics and results thus far. ——————- Day 26 ——————- Stacking and putting weight on. PK boosted 3 first to show some purps in buds. Littttle tiny bit in 1 as well. Frosty as hell WPM seems at bay

The week starts Monday, Jan-13 in flowering stage. The plant is growing fast, stretching long and I'm constantly tying down branches to maintain an even canopy. There's also a stronger scent of lemon already in the tent. Carried out substantial defoliation of almost all the big fan leaves and a few little stems that were not likely to make it above the canopy. Avoided defoliating the major cola branches. This encourages the plant not to waste resources on a node which is only going to produce “popcorn” buds. The plants reacted well to the defoliation and were looking good by the end of the light cycle for the day. The net is completely full and this will be the last week of applying any LST as part of the ScrOG setup. Light is maintained at 30cm distance from canopy, with daily fertigation at lights on - watering almost 3L per day. Lowered the average RH in the space to 50%. ----prior 4 weeks updates ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The week starts Monday, Jan-06 in flowering stage. The net is filling up nicely with the ScrOG process being enjoyable - just tucking branches nicely under squares once stretched enough. Lost a branch end with 3 nodes accidentally whilst tucking away so now I'm super careful. The Sativa dominant strain is stretching nicely and bends easily. Minor defoliation of lower branches and fan leaves continues daily. Light is maintained at 30cm distance from canopy. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The week starts Monday, Dec-30 in vegetative stage - switching the light regime to flowering. Initiated flowering with an extended dark period prior to switching light regime - this practice is supposed to promote a faster initiation of flowering by the plant. Maintain lights off from Dec-31, 10:00 until Jan 1 - 18:45 allowing a 32hr darkness period prior to switching the light regime. Light regime is set for 12.5/11.5 on/off allowing me a better maintenance window for my living situation. Both plants are growing fast and strong, showing their genetic traits. Some shoots are going through the net already. Have started to tuck branches as they grow to fill up any gaps. Did minor defoliation on both plants near their stem base and centres. Some green algae on roots/coco medium on the surface of the pot. Have defoliated some more which hopefully helps with air circulation at the area. Will monitor over the week - may need to decrease watering frequency, although they seem to be keeping up drinking. Lowered the High Humidity setting of the extraction fan to 60% - which effectively keeps it running at least 75% of the time, and removed the humidifier. Will monitor and adjust as necessary lowering the setting to 50% in a few weeks whilst flowering. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The week starts Monday, Dec-23 in vegetative stage. Installed the ScrOG net - Set at 20cm from the base of the plants, being 55cm from ground. The plant is showing great growth, lots of branching and new growth sprouts. A few branches are beginning to come through the net and almost all main branches are now tied down horizontally after the two recent toppings. Applied more LST and will wait for the branches to reach the net and start tucking. The AC Infinity fan is currently only running intermittently with its current settings. This seems to impact the utilisation and effectiveness of the carbon filter in use. The desired outcome is for the fan to be running for longer periods whilst in Auto config. Lowered the High Level Humidity from 70% to 60%, and more importantly, lowered the Max Speed from 4 to 2 with the intent that a lower fan speed will result in longer periods where the extraction fan is operated to remain below threshold targets for the grow space. Plant growth continues to be strong at the end of the week. Big fan leaves near the top are beginning to look a little serrated and dark, similar to the start of this grow. This may be due to the extra CalMag being added which was the issue at the start of the grow. Will keep monitoring and half the CalMag dosage on next feed. Importantly, I have learnt nutrient mixing of the CalMag should be done prior to the Canna Coco A & B. To date I have done the opposite which may explain my earlier issues. Fertigating daily at the start of the light cycle. One more week of vegetative growth before switching to flowering although I may need to switch earlier due to the vigorous growth and considering the stretch yet to come. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ................................. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My grow setup includes; - Secret Jardin DS120W tent (120cm x 60cm x 180cm) placed inside the bedroom. Passive intake of air is from a closed off section of the room where the central heating boiler sits - the intake is warm air (20 degC.) and fairly dry (40% RH) during the winter months. - Mars Hydro SP250 LED light - extraction fan - AC Infinity Cloudline T6 - ventilation fans - aquarium heater - small oil heater - small dehumidifier - 20L Airpots and 3.5L general pots for seedling stage - Canna Coco substrate and nutrients - pH and EC/TDS meters - Thermo/Hygro meter

Today, I spent some time tying down branches under the net again. It’s still a tricky task as the branches are quite brittle and break easily. Fortunately, the plants recover quickly, and so far, I’ve mainly noticed new growth sprouting from where the branches broke. Watering Experiment: Too Much or Just Right? Two days ago, I decided to give each plant an additional 2 liters of water to test the effects of what felt like overwatering. The results were interesting: High Humidity: The relative humidity spiked to 74%, which I consider a minor downside. Lower Temperature: Dropped to 29°C. Explosive Growth: The plants responded with vigorous growth! Given the humidity increase, I’ve decided to water the plants heavily only once a week. This approach should give them time to rest and prevent the growth of more mushrooms in the soil—yes, I’ve spotted a few popping up from the pot’s surface. Monitoring pH and Nutrient Reservoir I’ve also noticed that the pH has crept up to 6.2, indicating that the nutrient water hardness is decreasing. This suggests it might be time for a full reservoir refresh. Tonight, I plan to inspect the reservoir and clean it out. Thankfully, my hydro pump makes draining it a quick and easy process. Observations & Next Steps Continue training and monitoring branch recovery. Stick to the adjusted watering schedule. Refresh the nutrient reservoir and recalibrate the pH if needed. The grow is progressing nicely, and the plants seem happy despite some of the challenges. Let’s keep it going! 🌱 Cheers 30/11: Added some pictures, not to much to say because I didn't look at them the last 2 days and they just went crazy.. 01/01/25: Happy New year!! Leaving them alone is not an option... If they keep growing like this, I'll take it! This weekend, I'll do some heavy pruning. For now, I’ve snapped a few stems and tied some others to see which method gives better results. I’ve done about half so far, but I need to head to bed because of work. Tomorrow evening, I’ll tackle the other half. Also, I’ll look for some more subtle zip ties.

Second week with the mini humidifier here and so far mixed results. I need something with larger capacity so I don't have to refill it every single day, but still small enough to fit the IKEA box. Strongly considering to add a heated mat too at some point. There seems to be quite a bit of temperature difference between the plant and the bottom of the pot. Maybe just some insulations. Sooo many things to try, but let's focus on not overfeeding them 😃

I really wonder how tall these ladies would be if I did not enforce any sort of training, would they even grow tall with only a slight breeze, trust when I say slight, it’s enough to extract air out the greenhouse, I’ve tested this out with smoke to better see the airflow in the greenhouse and itself ventilates. But it is not sufficient to cause any stress to help bulk up stems and brunches, we going to need that strength when flowering takes place, big buds get heavy. I think the more you grow the more you say this is your best cycle, I think it due to the lessons learnt while improving your knowledge. At this moment I can safely say I don’t not have a favourite plant in this cycle because of how unique each plant is adapting to greenhouse conditions, unlike outdoor where the plant is exposed to the elements which I say is a huge advantage because it get all the right minerals and nutrients from sun and rain. Luckily I have a tank full of rain water, to be fair enough to not keep these ladies hydrated.

The last week there has been a few hiccups. I over watered the gal a bit so the branches were drooping, a few days of almost 40 degrees so some heat stress didn't help but they still grew close to 5" though!! They have really filled out after I gave them a small pruning on day 44, and with the few hiccups they have come back healthy. I.e to.much water so let them dry out, and cut my it in half the volume which seems to be working better. I used a magnifying glass app to see when I'll get some signs of flower they are obviously not there yet but for a free app awesome pics. Pretty happy with how they are growing, no issues with bugs or critters. I'm using a few herbs as a natural bug repellent which seems to be working but have a neem oil spray bottle ready incase. Thanks for stopping by and looking. Happy growing!

This was a fantastic plant to grow, and although it doesn't have the strongest resistance to mold, I think that if I were to grow it again I could avoid the issue. I am starting to figure out how to maximize my grow space! Come check out my next grow when you get a chance!
