🌿Week 4: Defoliation & SCROG Setup Week 4 was all about structure and airflow. The canopy was getting bushy fast, with a ton of inner growth, so we went in for a solid defoliation session across the board. Lower fans, overlapping leaves, and shaded internodes were cleaned up to let light penetrate deeper into the canopy and reduce potential humidity traps. Right after that, we finally dropped the SCROG net, stretched out gently across the canopy to guide the branches horizontally and prep for flower stacking. Some of these phenos are already reaching for the sky, so the timing felt just right. Captured a full-time-lapse clip of the defoliation + netting process. It’s super satisfying watching the chaos turn into clean lines. Nature meets intention. Feed Bloom since 20/6 22/6 Defoliation 🌱 Plant Response: After defol, they bounced back fast. Tops are perky, leaves are praying, and stretch is continuing in a controlled way. The structure’s more open now — better airflow, better light distribution, better everything.

4/30 one of the plants has actually visibly stretched more in the last 48 hrs. Starting to impress me with the pistols. Still way smaller than their projections online but whatever 🤷🏽‍♂️ 5/4 end of the week and I’m pretty okay with their size now 😂 they went through a sizable stretch. I’ll have to get my measuring tape back in the tent because each time I’m adding to this diary, I question whether I’m on the right week or not because they look like dwarfs compared to the end of the week

Harvest: Everything dried up to 347 grams + 96 grams of super high quality trim. Overall I am not too pleased with the smoke of the product. Although the bud size, bag appeal, smell and taste are pretty much all there, the shitty burn is a deal breaker for me and the majority of this weed is quite frankly useless. Another downside is while smoking I’ve found 4 seeds in an ounce from almost every strain. Light leaks? At least I learned a ton, including how to get super good burn for my next crop. I’m hoping that curing for a month or so will improve the burn but I wouldn’t really count on it. I have seen weed dried for 4 days with no cure and no flush smoke clean and not go out once. I have been told that the key to white ashes/clean burn is proper mineral content in the soil and there is tons of scientific studies on cigar ash going back 100 years. Plants grown in a medium with high levels of decomposing organic matter, phosphorus, magnesium, chlorine and heavy metal ratio tend to produce black/grey ash. Whereas plants grown in a medium with a higher ratio of trace minerals like calcium carbonate and potassium in the form of wood ash, rock dusts, oyster shell flour and lower levels of decomposing organic matter will produce a dense, uniform white ash that rarely goes out. But this is still all theory until I test it to confirm for myself a few times. My last few outdoor harvests did not improve with curing at all so I’m hoping this will be the missing link. Plain peat moss and coco clearly lack essential minerals that help burn. If said theory is correct I should find a synthetic nutrient line with more trace minerals. Makes me wonder if growing if rockwool/basalt rock could improve burn in a hydro setup. I think I did a fairly decent job for my first grow. I went wrong in a million different places but I still stuck it out and got some decent herb. Things went wrong early when I got black spot mold, nitrogen/magnesium deficiencies and powdery mildew. I corrected most of it but things didn’t get really bad until mid veg when I intentionally skipped a few feedings and defoliated quite heavily stunting the plants. I also didn’t even top or start LST until the 6-9th node which was really stupid and hurt my yield. My temperatures were all over the place from the learning curve. I was severely overwatering without realizing it. 100% peat moss is a shitty medium. I also fed way too late in flower (not what caused shitty burn). I also used synthetic nutrients in soil. back is sore from trim jail, but I got through a half pound in a couple

Bud wet weight : 168,1g of trimmed medium to big sized buds 25,4g of tiny tiny buds/larfs = 193.5 grams of trimmed wet buds. Details on genetics and smoke report above. This, as my first grow, is way more than I ever expected it to be. I haven´t had that much fun and enthusiasm in a very very long time. I can´t even explain the feeling it is to harvest your own cannabis, but I know most of you know what I´m talking about haha. It was really nice to practice LST, even tho it was SO HARD, ´cause I didn´t had barely any space to work since I used a hard pot and did not fill nearly half the size of it and the walls of the pot were really high. It was even difficult to water without dropping water on the lower buds. I haven´t learnt much about defoliation tho, I feel I need to study a little more about the phases you should or should not do it. Also, I discovered thrips are a pain in the ass. I had 2 tough weeks dealing with thrips, but in the end it was alright. I don´t have any humidity control device, which I intend to buy for the next grows. Growdiaries was really helpful for me, it kept me motivated everyday (not that I wouldn´t have had it anyways), the Grow Questions are REALLY useful and all the community is awesome. Thanks to all people that helped me here on GD during this first grow! To conclude it: I am really happy and satisfied with how the grow turned out. They look incredible, it almost feels like I can´t believe it still. Peace. UPDATES: 07/10 : The buds are now dry and already in curing jars, one of them with a Boveda 58% humidity pack. The total grams of the dry buds are: 41.4g (medium to big sized buds) 4.1g (tiny buds) = 45.5 grams! I´m really happy with the results, I thought it would be around 30g so yeah, that´s a really good surprise! In 2 weeks I´ll be back to update the smoke report. Thanks so much for reading! C'est la première fois que j'ai une plante qui dépasse plus de 100 jours en espérant avoir le succès escompté 🌱🙏 La récolte se passe dans une semaine, laissant la place à d'autres petits et de nouvelles aventures dans un nouveau substrat.

It’s so warm today! Of course I pulled all my plants out to spray with spinosad and feed/water. ********* I use a Hudson 2L sprayer. My partner used to work in the film industry and they found this brand of sprayer gets the most thorough even coverage for makeup or whatever movie magic they use sprayers to create. It’s great. ********* The larger gorilla glue has come around but I lost a few nodes. I’m seeing a little PMD, but I’ve been knocking it back when baking soda and water. I’ve been taking scalps, defoliating the big one gently and the little ones need almost daily lollipopping. I’m watching my ph and using more cal mag. I definitely feel like they are two different phenotypes.I have them on individual diets. ********** Some fungal gnats come with the humidity so I topdressed with gnat nix. I don’t believe I overwater so I hope that’s the solution! I think I may wait another week or two and get things more stable before moving to flower.
