What a journey it has been from seed!
I made a lot of mistakes in the first few weeks of this growing journey. I feel like I had a mini-crash after finishing the first year of grad school, and although I am growing cannabis as part of my research project, I haven't been the greatest at paying attention to it. This is not an excuse. It has actually been a learning opportunity. I realized that my body needs proper schedules to function and grow, just like a plant.
The problems with the plant have really been my own problems. Let's just say that a plant may be the reflection of the grower. First, the light cycles were wrong and inconsistent. I thought that I could manually control the light schedule for the plants and be alright. However, I was wrong. My sleep schedule has been very inconsistent for the past few months. Mainly because we are living through a pandemic, and secondly because I am a graduate student 😂. How naive was it of me to think that a plant could follow my own rhythms? I guess it highlights my 'plant blindness.'
Second, the light intensity was low and PH levels high.
In the last five days, I have learned that plants are living organisms (I knew this, but my plant blindness is quick to dismiss it, I need to stop fighting these "plant voices" (signals)) that require a proper environment to grow, similar to humans. Of course, a plant is not human, but it is alive and living. It needs water, a regular schedule (light (active) /darkness (rest), oxygen, nutrients, and an overall good environment to grow.
Concern about the size of my plant at five weeks, I decided to conduct a few experiments at home.
Here are my notes:
Friday, July 23, 2021, I took the plant out of the tent at 6:00 AM and placed it in front of my backyard window that faces the Eastside, perfect for sunrise. On that day, I had a few errands to run, and when I arrived home, it was 2:30 PM. The sun was now hitting the West side of my house, and I had to move the plant in front of my bedroom window.
At around 7:00 PM, I went to look at the plant and noticed that its leaves were looking plumpy. So, I decided to take a timelapse to see what I would be able to record.
During "magic hour" (sunset), I recorded and witnessed the plant moving with the rhythms of the sun. Plant, like humans, function at their best when they are synchronized with their circadian rhythm. The pandemic has definitely disoriented us to the point that it has disrupted all of our schedules. To this day, I feel tired from everything we have all been through; how could I possibly think that a plant would thrive with such a messed-up schedule?
The time lapse made me realize that the plant needs some structure to thrive, and so do I. So, as much as I like to think that I can be disciplined and follow a plant's schedule, I cannot. So, I went to the store and bought the Globe Suite smart plug to automate and schedule the light cycle to 12hrs of light and 6 hours of darkness.
Saturday, July 24, 2021, the plant woke up to the set schedule of the lights.
I checked on the plant first thing in the morning, around 9:30 AM. The leaves look much greener and thicker than they did the day before.
Sunday, July 25, 2021.
I was away overnight and did not arrive home until 2 PM. The plant looks twice the size it was on Friday! Today, I will water the plant. I got a PH test kit and realized that the way that I measured the PH level, the first few weeks was wrong 🤦♀️🏽. I measured the PH correctly, to 5.9, and added some Reefertilizer grow nutrients to the water. I watered from the top, distributing the water evenly around the stem.
My partner pointed to me that the lights seemed dim for the stage of the plant's life. So I had my lights set at 100 watts running at 20 % 😅. I realized that I had not increased the light intensity since the first few weeks of vegetation 🤦♀️🏽. So I increased the intensity to 100 watts running at 60%.
Monday, July 26, 2021.
First check-in 7:00 AM: The plant looks like it loves all of the new changes that I have made! It is finally growing 🤗
The sun is out, but it is not as intense as it should be because tiny particles of smoke are present in our air due to the wildfires, and they create a filter that makes the human eye see the sun blood red. It is quite apocalyptic.
Regardless, I decided to take the plant out from the tent and record a time-lapse. It is fascinating how much movement plants have despite showing no noticeable signs of movement (to the human eye).
Tuesday, July 27, 2021.
It has been five days since I have made big changes to the plant's schedule and environment. The plant is finally showing good signs of growth, and its leaves colours have changed to a deep green. I am not watering the plant today, but I am spritzing it with water.
I decided to take another time-lapse of the plant, but this time inside the tent. As I was setting up the tripod for my camera, I accidentally increased the humidifier 🤦♀️🏽. Luckily, I noticed within a reasonable timeframe and reduced the humidity and made the environment better.
I increased the light intensity to 100 watts at 100%.
The plant will stay in the tent all day today because it is raining ☔️.

Lot happened overnight, looking like end of week for flush.
Will continue PK for one more day as time for the last push here now as upped nuets about 200ppm.
PK ends Friday, nuets will drop back 200ppm at the same time.
Flush begins 3/24 Tuesday... 08:05 PDT ... 😏

Ended PK dropped CT to below 900ppm
On track for flush mid-week which will be real close to Fast Buds estimate of 45 days.

Last feeding at half strength but tossed in a dose of Recharge just to see if it matters. doubt it would but it needed using as it hitting its effective date.

Flushed each using 10 gallons PHed tap water and 5ml/gal flushing agent.

Runoff @235ppm about 80 ppm over the water ppm so looks like the pot is empty and we can cease the FloraKleen those roots are stripped and I am no rush on this flush.

We chopped a day after last upload and she weighed in at a half oz after a 6 day dry (we wrote it as 12 on account of thick center stems)..what we've smoked of this so far is amazing..we immediately planted more and hope to do a large run of Blue Dream clones in the near future.. this strain is as frosty as Seedsman's Ghost Candy, just melts in the pipe, its unreal.. I can't wait until we have more!
This was fun, my only regret is not vegging an extra week or 2 but I chickened out on space lol..thanks as always for dropping by and be sure to check this strain out, it's fabulous!!

📆 Semana 7:
Última semana de crecimiento, esta semana pasada se han mudado a la nueva carpa de Marshydro 1.50x1.50x1.80 y necesito algo mas de tiempo para cubrir el espacio vacio.
Practico poda apical para equilibrar el tamaño con las mas pequeñas.
Aplicación de jabón potasico via foliar para prevenir plagas.
Aplico 1/4 de la dosis de nutrientes recomendada por el fabricante, todo va bien.

The plant is looking great!! I've done super cropping (hst) with some clips and it's working perfectly!! I think she's starting to go into preflower but at the moment there are no signs of pistiles or strong odour.

Que pasa familia, volvemos actualizar , va, última semana de crecimiento que las pasaré a floración esta próxima semana, han recuperado genial de la carencia de nitrógeno y el trasplante, parecía que no querían tirar pero vaya estirón han dado esta semana.
Subí un poco los nutrientes , seguimos aportando lo básico de advanced nutrients, me encantaría volver a cultivar con Agrobeta que dan unos resultados increíbles también pero es lo que hay.
Practique una poda de bajos, también me parece importante para fomentar en la floración las flores arriba y no abajo que las flores bajeras no nos dan mucho.
Hasta ahora es todo espero que no surjan más imprevistos como el trasplante o las carencias. Buenos humos familia 💨💨

8th week of flowering is behind us and I stopped giving more nutrients at this point.
Harvest will be done in about 2 weeks so from now on i stick to plain water.
Again zammy no2 is the one requiring daily adjustment to the supports. Flimsy branches are all bending downward.

Mental rainbow F1 the development and the complex colours of buds forming is interesting and looks/feels dense the plant is mainly focusing energy on side branches as well as main branches bud development they are definitely fattening up and thrichome are sparkling in development too looking forward to seeing her fatten up over next few says till flush

The screen is slowly filling up! I will admit the ScrOG method is a little more work than other LST/HST, but I love messing with my plants anyway. Its like solving a puzzle trying to find the next spot to pop up a cola. The Lucas method is going great. Still no water changes, and I haven't had issues with algae or root rot. Some people report their reservoir smelling bad without water changes, but all I smell is ganja 😀

I added a small video of the garden and will update this week further near day 35.
9/20 // The ladies rebounded nicely from the 9/11 overfeeding. Fed and watered them today. Willow at 1/4 nutes and Buffy at 1/8 nutes.
9/22 // Feeling good at the end of week 5. The ladies have responded well to the light feeding on 9/20, and I have started adding Big Bud to the mix.

Another week in the books and they seem to be maturing fast. Added some sweet candy and bud explosion by Greenleafnutrients @ 1 gram per 4 litres for each. Today I noticed some very small white pests on top of the pot, i only noticed when i watered as thats when they started moving about. Plants seem fine and with only a few weeks to go im not sure if I could or if its worth trying to treat it, guess ill just let the plants tell me....thanks for stopping by....✌️

Today is the first day of Week 6! This past week in the 4x4 “Blackbox” Tent, the front right Hella Jelly continued to thrive and push new growth, this one seems to be the most vigorous of the plants in the tent. The front left Hella Jelly struggled with some droopiness this past week, and one or two of her fan leaves had holes from what I’m guessing may have been a caterpillar or some other pest. I ended up cutting some of the lower fan leaves to keep the plant high away from the soil. The Vanilla Frosting in the back left was stunted a bit by the topping, but now she seems to be doing well, she is sturdy and the new growth seems healthy. Her sister on the right is two weeks behind and hasn’t really taken off since being transplanted. I’m hoping Week 6 (her Week 4) will be her week to really start pushing new growth.
I needed to get the humidity higher in a couple of the tents and, not having any extra humidifiers available, I decided to try hanging a beach towel from a hanger in the tent. I dangled the end of the beach towel in a 5-gallon bucket of water, allowing it to wick up the moisture. This increased the humidity in the 4x4 by 20% (from 37%-57%). This was incredibly helpful because my “smart” humidifier is currently dedicated to the drying of my recent Apple Fritter harvest, and my other humidifier is not larger enough to maintain the humidity in the larger 5x9 tent for more than 18 hours before drying up.
When watering the 4x4 this week, I added 1/4 tsp/gal of Quillaja extract, 1 tsp/gal of Rootwise “Mycrobe Complete,” and 1 oz/gal of Thrive “Holy Cow” Yah-Whey fermented extract. I also top dressed with Kashi Gold from BuildaSoil and worm castings (about 1/2-1 inch layer). I water 3 times this week, the goal being to maintain even moisture.
The cover crop has been thriving, and by the end of the week it was time for a chop and drop. I did so and added it back to the soil and aLeo added more straw as a mulch layer.
Something else that was exciting this week, was adding 2,000 worms to the 8 30-gallon living soil pots in the 5x9. Before I added the worms that I ordered(from Buckeye Organics), I tried using avocados, cut in half and laid face down on the beds of soil in the 4x4. This worked surprisingly well! The worms are very attracted to the avocado and end up creating a “worm ball” where they rub up against each other, reproducing and creating even MORE baby worms. I did this several times, moving the worm “orgies” to a few of the 30-gallon pots, simply by transferring the avocados. This was my first time using “avocado tech,” and I have to say, it worked SO well.
Looking at upcoming Week 6, I’m hoping to see more growth from the 3 vigorous plants, and for the Vanilla Frosting that is a couple weeks behind, I’m hoping for her to begin filling out more. The goal is to flip to flower in the next 1-2 weeks, unless I decide we need to go longer. Full steam ahead!

Haven't uploaded in a month, but back at it!
Plant has been doing great. An animal almost cracked the main stem right through but with some tape and patience she recovered quite well. Recently discovered that i should water her even more (first plant) so now i'll give her a good 2-3 liters every 2-3 days. She's standing outside 24/7. I've also ordered General Hydrophonics nutrients yesterday since i had the opportunity. I've topped her once about 2 weeks ago and I'm thinking of topping the 2 main stems again soon.
Wondering when she'll go into flower though

So I finally got there in the end, here we have 3 x sherbert mimosa and 2 x gelato cake.
Classing this as week 1 as I repotted today so this is what I'm using.
Light = bloomplus bp2500
Exhaust is a ac infinity 6inch with digital controller
Inkbird humidity controller with a ram 5l humidifier. Veg only!
Soil= biobizz light mix
Nutes= biobizz roots 1 week using the 10 week schedule at half dose this run.
Ph= 6.4
Room humidity is 70%
Temp is 28°c

And the middle one is in all mix hence its got nute burn.
I have fed them 4ml of biobizz roots to a litre of water. I made a 2l bottle to share between them at this point.
Tomorrow I will start them with the following biobizz nutes as follows.
2ml per litre of fish shite
2ml per litre of bio heaven
2ml per litre of acti Vera
2ml per litre cal mag
I mix the cal mag on its own and feed separately.

Hello all and welcome back. We had a GOOD week. We are in flower and I couldn't be happier. This week was like most, just water when the pot is light. So here is the rundown.
Day 30 - This day I rotated 1/4 turn to avoid hot spots with my light. I also added a humidifier to the tent. I purchased a large dehumidifier for my house as the sunshine coast is in full WET season. This brought my tent down to low 40's RH. Humidifier was set up to a timer, 30 on 30 off. This kept me pretty steady between 55 and 60%RH. And she loved it. Just blew up.
Day 31 - nothing to do here but monitor the environment. All is well on this day.
Day 32 - on this day we water 💧 🙂. I'm doing a combination on top watering and bottom watering. I top dressed last week so I top water to flush the amendments down and bottom water to ensure no dry spot in Coco. It's working very well.
Day 33 - this day is a monitor day. Environment is holding steady at 26 and mid 50s RH
Day 34 - this day we watch again. Everything holding steady. In the evening before bed I checked in and noticed on a few leaves I have "rust spots." Only about 4 leaves but still, I was concerned. I removed the humidifier to lower the RH.
Day 35 - Continuing my only drama this week. In the morning, I watered, readjusted my LST ties and did some defoliation to the lower skirt any blocking prime bud sites that I can't tuck. I watered again this time with water ph set to 6.2. The rust looks like calcium or magnesium. Since I have Oyster Shell Flower (Calcium) in my mix and just top dressed a week ago, I thought it's more likely my mediums Ph swung a little high as my last watering was ph at 6.8 and I think my pen of off now. So I'm thinking small lockout. Watered with Epsom salts for Magnesium to be safe.
Day 36 - Today no new rust spots and the ones there are same size. I'll find out in a few days if I caught the spread in time. So all seems well.

The plants are in excellent shape. The buds are getting very thick and starting to bend towards the ground, I have to think about putting in a scrog net.
The buds are full of trichomes and some have yellow leaves indicating the impending end of the cycle. I think I'll cut in 10 days.
