Early start this year with two of my favourite auto strains
- Membrana Hiper Auto (VIP Seeds)
- Wedding Cake Automatic (Zamnesia Seeds)
I'm located in south Greece and the weather these days is sunny with about 18~20 Celcious.
For the first month I'll be keeping the plants inside over nights since temperature is dropping to around 12C. I'll be using Biobizz all mix as soil (in 11lt fabric pots) and General Hydroponics Flora pack as my nutrients.
The seeds spend 12hours in a glass of water and then 2 days in paper towel. They both germinated (membrana looks super vibrant as always). Both where planted in plastic caps (I know the objection on directly planting the autos in their final pot but the weather here is changing violently some days so having them in cups for the first 2 weeks allows me to move them around a lot faster than having them in 11lt pots). Since days are not that long yet I also put them on a 26W LED for some hours as well.
They are now 6 days old (counting from the day I unpacked them).
Girls got a week old. Weather is still unstable with sudden changes in temperature. Plants stay most of the day outside and when it gets colder or cloudy I put them under the 26W LED lamp.
Both look beautiful.
During the week the weather turned really cold (for here) with temperatures between 7 and 14 C. Kept both indoors with the LED lights
Week 3 started with low temperatures. Both had a light feeding with 1ml/lt of GHE flora (Gro, micro, bloom) and 2ml of biobizz root juic.
Both plants were transplanted on day 16 to 11lt fabric pots with Biobizz lightmix. So far so good.
On day 19 the weather is still cold and rainy so both girls spend most of the time indoors with the 26W LED light
Week started with (finally) some sunny days. Both girls seems to be doing fine with Membrana Hiper growing super fast.
On day 22 the sunny days seems to be good for the girls.
Day 25 and the weather is still rough. Temperature is better but the winds are going crazy with 45 knots gusts. Both girls had a basic training today but nothing special. I'll wait for the weather to get better to do more LST.
End of week 5 and the weather is still rough for this time of the year. Temperatures bellow 15C and super windy. Growth seems to have slow down but they still look alive and healthy.
After the rough windy and cold weather of the last weeks days looks better and better. Both plants seems to be a bit slow on growing height but other than that they look healthy with loads of new vegetation.
Update: Looks like wedding cake might be entering pre-flowering even if she is way to small and early for her. I might be wrong tho. However since I know for sure that Membrana Hiper will definitely take longer to finish (last year it took 4 months and a wooping 300gr from just a single auto flower) this diary will mark its weeks based on Membrana's circle.
On the 5th week wedding cake seems to going to pre flowering for sure. Smaller than expected but looking healthy with amazing aromas.
Day 40 and the weather is getting better. Girls seems to enjoy sitting in the sun.
Week 7 started with some amazing weather. Sunny days and around 23C temperature.
Wedding cake is definitely pre-flowering (but unfortunately she is a bit small, I guess due the cold weather on weeks 3-5) but other than that she looks healthy AF
Membrana hiper as always is a beast. Strange think this year is that she doesn't look as tall as normal but she is really thick.
Week 7 and Membrana seems to be entering her flowering days. Temperature raised from 20 to 30 within 2 days but both girls seems to be doing just fine.
On day 50 the temperature went to 35C (10C within a week) but both girls seems to handle it fine.
Day 50 and still going with the high (>30C) temperatures. Membrana is on her flowering. All looking good.
Week 8 and both girls are well into flowering. Wedding cake will be finishing earlier but both seems to be going fine.
Day 59 and both girls seems to be doing fine.
Day 61 and the wedding cakes bud are getting bigger. The smell its just awesome!
Week 9 and both girls seems to be doing fine. Membrana hipes is still growing like a monster. At this point she needs about 5 litters of water every other day!
Day 69 according to the seed info wedding cake should be almost ready. I think tho that she has at least 2-3 weeks to go. I'll post some pics from the microscope tomorrow.
Spotted some black & white spots on some of the lower leaves on wedding cake. Can't see any bug but to me they look like eggs. Any ideas (the spots appear on the lower leaves only, top leaves look ok)
Week 10 and wedding cake is getting ready. I might stop feeding her at the end of this week and prep her for flushing over the next.
Membrana hiper is still growing and flowering. Damn what a fine beast she is.
Day 77 and I think wedding cake is almost done!
On day 77 wedding cake looks almost done. Should I give her a feed and wait a week before flushing? Or should I flush her now and wait a week before harvesting. More keen on a euphoric high
Hi mate, I would say she has a week or so left in her. Still some clear but mostly cloudy. What you're looking for is the trichomes are bent over by the weight of the head. Can see a lot of that but still some upright ones. Don't flush unless you want to smoke it straight away, But even then I woudn't. Feed till the end, light till the end. Use a good month cure to breakdown the chlorophyll left in the bud. Giving you nice white ash smoke. Flushing only serves to diminish your final result. Same goes for the 48 hr darkness. Both are likely to reduce your terpene profile by upto 30%. I hope this helps, good luck and happy growing
Week 11 and both girls are coming along fine.
Wedding cake is almost done and damn how nice she smells. She has a week or so.
On day 82 the issue with the thrips continues in the membrana hiper. At this point close to the harvest I mainly try to contain the issue by defoliating the infected leaves.
Week 12 and wedding cake is about to finish. Buds look thick and dense and the smell is just awesome!
Membrana seems to have an issue with thrips but since we are so close to harvest only manual defoliation for her.
Day 92 and membrana is still going. I'm facing a serious issue with thrips and since she is so close to harvest I can only try manual removal and hope for the best. I think she is entering her last couple of weeks
On day 95 Membrana showing signs that she is entering her last days
Even with the initial cold stun she recovered and gave 45grs of super flavorful buds. I think I over-dried the buds (55% in the Jar) bud I added a couple of bovedas to straight it out. Overall a nice plant with awesome smell and superb taste (even without fully curing). Highly recommended.
Last week for membrana hiper. As always with membranas she turned out to be quite a beast. Other than the thrips infestation everything turned out nice.
Tomorrow on her 100th day I'll harvest her
