Week 2 of vegetation. No problems so far.😁
I have added a bit of Canna Vega to the water because the soil is very poor in nutrients. Next week I'm gonna put them in bigger shoes (2l pots)
I've started with 5 plants and I'm going to continue with 4, as planned. As you could see 5/5 germinated but I had to sacrifice 1 due to lack of space.
I'm giving them a small solution of Canna Vega & Rhizotonic once a week, about 50ml of rainwater with these nutrients.
For the rest of the week it's only rainwater (pH 6).
Week 4 has started & we veg on. I'm going to veg for 6 or 7 weeks in total.
1 plant is a bit slow, but will catch up I guess. That's the deal with plants from seed instead of clones, they're not all the same and some little dna-change may give ya a smaller plant or a bigger one.
Watering is low, about 100ml/plant every other day. Also the nutrients are still low. The soil has already nutrients for the first weeks, so adding to much extra nutrients would do more harm than good.
A small usb-fan is blowing some air around them Jacks so that they'll get a firm stem. 😀
The 5th week already and they're topped. Topped them between the 4th & 5th node. In the mean while I also removed the 1st lower leaves & 1ste shoots. Those don't produce as much so I always remove them pretty early in the progress.
At day 34 I repotted them to their final pots of 11 liter (3gal).
Food is still 0. Just a bit of Rhizotonic & Cannazym once a week and for the rest rainwater. Notice that I've used fertilized soil when I repotted them.
I've also produced some nettle water. After 9 days the brew was ready to sieve. I've used 1kg nettles/10L tapwater. The result is a brown liquid that contains lots of nitrogen, iron and many minerals that cannabisplants love. 😍 This liquid I dilute in a ratio 1/10. 100ml nettle water + 900ml rainwater gives an EC value of 0,3-0,4 /ph 6,3. I'm gonna try it on 1 plant as experiment 😉
Week 6 for the Jacks. 1 plant looks like she's fimmed. For some reason 2 extra shoots came from nowhere 😳 Seems that I've topped right at the spot where the next node begins. 😀
Nutrients are still very low. Just some Rhizotonic & Cannazym once a week and that's it. For the rest it's plain rainwater.
1 plant (top left corner) is getting nettle water once a week as an experiment on how this wil affect the plant.
Week 7 and we still veg on. Going to give them another week of 18/6 and then it will be time to switch. They're getting pretty close to the frame.
The internodes are short, just the way I like it. I don't think I'm going to apply LST like I did in the past. Just going to push them through the squares of the net and lead them where there's room 😌
This week I've started with feeding them Canna Terra Vega and I'm going to continue giving it for 3 more weeks, 2 times a week.
First week after the switch.
Every other day I give them 350-400ml of rainwater each. 2 times/week this rainwater contains nutrients (canna vega) & once a week Rhizotonic + Cannazym.
Scrog is on it's way and I'll think the net will be full within a week or 2.
Week 2 after the switch. All 4 Jack's are showing pre-flowers so the actual flowering will start in a week or so. The smell is slightly coming in, but it's still very weak.
The net is slowly filling and within a week or 2 it will be full of buds 😀
Week 3 after the switch and the actual flowering is slowly taking a start.
I'm still scrogging every day. I have the idea that they don't stretch too much, but that could be my imagination. 😶
Anyway, I still got some space left on the screen so I think I've made the switch right on time 😊
Week 4 after the switch. I'm still giving them Canna Vega mixed with some Flores.
They're still growing, but the biggest stretch is over I guess. I thought they would've stretched more in the first weeks after the switch. So I'm hoping they'll grow a little bit more.
Jack Herer has 40% sativa dna, so they could grow some more.
I have also given them each some nettle water. It looks like they appreciate that very much. 😀
I think I'm going to try a complete round in the future only using nettle water. You can't go more bioligical than that 😉
Week 5 after the switch and unfortunately I've discovered some male balls on 1 plant. Just a few, not much and I've removed the balls. I'm checking every day for more balls and today I didn't found one.
So I'm stuck with 1 herma...but I have decided not to remove it.
But the plants are doing well and are flowering nicely. They stay pretty small, maybe I should 've given them a week more of vegetation.
Week 5 after the switch. Unfortunately I have discovered seeds in 2 Jack's. The herma probably produced some pollen and that dust must 've spread and hit some buds.
It's a bummer, but I'm going to continue and see where this ends.
Started giving pk 13/14 this week, not gonna give them much. I'm gonna add it 3 times to the feeding water.
In the meantime I'm germinating 5 x Bubba's Gift that I've won here on growdiaries with newbie of the month diary. 😊
Week 7 and the buds are starting to swell more and the plants have been drinking more.
Today I've added pk 13/14 for the last time this round. Still gonna feed them for 1,5 weeks or so and then it will be time to flush.
The smell is realy kicking in now, a lovely sweet herby smell 😁
Week 7 after the switch. Buds are still developing so I'm still going to feed them a few times with Cannaboost only.
I have also given them some netlle water & pk 13/14 for the last time this round. Lots of hairs are turning brown. Some trichomes on the leafs are turning amber, but those on the buds are clear going cloudy. Not sure how long it will take before harvest....maybe 2 more weeks?
Week 9 and the leafs are fading into harvest colors. Buds are still swelling up, more hairs are turning brown. But the trichomes are'nt there yet.
Within 5 days I'm going to start flushing them with pure water for 10 days or so.
Week 10 and after 65 days of flowering I have started to flush. Gonna give them rainwater till harvest.
Trichomes are'nt there yet. Lots of them are milky with a few amber ones. I' d like to see much more amber 😉
Week 11 and we're slowly getting there. Still flushing with 500ml rainwater every other day.
Trichomes are milky for the most part. Patience 😌 The pheno will be ready first.
The buds are real dense at the end of the flowering cycle.
I had one phenotype that grow more like an indica, while the others had a bit more sativa in them.
The phenotype was the most beautiful one of the 4.
One also turned out to be a hermaphrodite. This one produced some pollen and as a result there are some seeds in the buds. I've spotted the balls a bit too late...
They don't stretch much after the switch so I recommend vegging them a bit longer.
The smell is not that hard during the entire cycle, so they're good for stealth growth 😄
I got 127 grams from 4 Jack Herer's. Not that much, but that could be the lights.
And the herma did'nt produced as much as the pheno or the others. I always find it hard to describe the taste, but I'll go for soft citrus with skunky & earthy undertones. A nice taste that just wants you to smoke another one. Grow it and taste it 😉
The effects are body & mind relaxing, getting you appetite all combined with a happy mood. 😄
Would I grow them again?
Maybe...because the taste & effect are real good. And with some better lights, the yield would certainly be higher.
After 77 days of 12/12 I've harvested 1 plant that was ready. 20-30% amber so it was about time.
The 3 others are harvested 3 days later at 80 days of 12/12.
The herma got lots of seeds, but the other 3 didn't. Bummer with the herma, but yeah these things happen.
The smell during harvest was citrus & flowerish.
Thx for those following & commenting & liking posts 👍 Keep 'm green 😎
Do you feel the pk 13/14 is worth it considering how short you use it for? slowly expanding my addatives, going for Boost, cannazym and Rhizo for my next grow as well as the terra base nutes
@SirSmith, Good question. I don't have the feeling that the pk 13/14 is adding much to the progress. However, I think that if I would start using the pk 13/14 a week or 2 sooner (arround week 4 of flowering) and maybe for a week longer, that this could make a difference.
Just be sure that you have enough time between the last time you've used pk 13/14 and harvest. About 3 weeks before harvest should be the last time.
Yea those look real nice. I grew a jack auto, looking back i think an extra 2 weeks for mine would have been good. I think yours about in the same phase 1-2 weeks longer.
@zaxar, thx!
I'm not sure if I ever smoked Jack Herer in my life, not 100% sure that is. I've never purchased it myself, but I've smoked it. Well, that's what they told me...😏
