First seeds have popped so transferred to fabric pots.
Still waiting for a few in the dome, I’ll update success rate in a few days.
Definitely doing paper towel germination next time, much faster.
Bio light mix soil so ph water and root ex for 2 weeks.
Thanks for stopping by ✌️🏽
Update:
End of week growth looking good.
I’ve set my lights height using an LED light meter. They are receiving 400mol/ppfd at 45 inch. I’ll keep them at round this till end of week two.
I’ll start adding nutrients and bringing the lights lower till I’m between 600-800umol/ppfd end of week 3.
That should give them 40-45moles of light per day on an 18-6 schedule till harvest.
Pellet germination success rate:
Zkittlez 4-10
Gelato auto 8-10
Day 1. Light Water.
Day 4. Watered with root ex.
.
Both strains going well.
Going to run best 4 zkittlez under one light and best 4 gelato under the other.
Day 15. Watered with root ex.
Day 16. Topped after 4th node.
Day 17. Watered with great white.
Day 18. Lowered lights to 37inch (500 ppfd).
Day 20. Repotted into 8 litre pots. Half bio bizz lite mix/perlite and half coco/clay pebbles and eco thrive charge, watered with great white and cal mag.
Plants didn’t flinch after topping.
Growth hasn’t stunted after potting up either (I’ll be planting straight into 8litre fabric pots next time).
I’ll start LSTing this week to keep canopy flat.
Potted up with half coco and half lite mix soil, I’ll wait for plants to show me they need nutrients but until then just PH’d water with cal mag and Great White.
I’ll keep you posted. ✌️🏽
Day 22. Put taller plants on right and kept shorter on the left. LST’d right side to keep them 9inch.
First 4 are Zkittlez next 4 are Gelato. Both got tall and short phenoms.
Day 23. Watered with great white, cal mag, royal gold and super b+. 2litre per plant.
Day 24. Both strains showing first white hairs.
LST’d left side once it had caught up to right, all plants 9inch.
Once stretch has stopped in a couple of weeks I know roots will be fully developed so I’ll start using the auto pot system.
Day 25. Watered with grow/micro/bloom, super b+, royal gold, great white, bud start and cal mag. (EC 0.8).
Dropped lights to 27 inch (600-650 ppfd)
Canopy flat and plants happy!
I’ll wait till day 30 before light defoliation then lollie pop around day 40.
Day 28. Watered with full nutrients EC 1.1.
Light intensity 650-750ppfd.
Height 12 inch. Both strains neck and neck 🙂
Day 29. Height 14 inch.
Light intensity 650-850 ppfd. Checked with LED full spectrum ppfd meter.
Day 30. Watered each plant 2litre with added bud start EC 1.8.
Light intensity 700-850 ppfd.
Height 14inch.
Day 31. Height 16inch. 700-900 ppfd.
Trimmed a few leaves. 5 per plant.
Day 32. Watered with plain water with added carbs for root zone microbes ph7.
Day 33. Removed any fan leaves facing into plants center for better light penetration.
Day 34. Filled autopot system and watered with full nutrients with added ton-o-bud EC 1.0 PH 6.5.
Height:
Gelato 20inch
Zkittlez 19inch
(I’ll keep light intensity around 800-900ppfd to limit stretch). This is well above 45 DLI (daily light integral) so when stretch is over if my lights height is maxed out I’ll have to reduce my lighting schedule for remainder of flower so not to stress them out.
45 DLI ON 18/6 light schedule is 600-700ppdf.
*You can go as high as 65 DLI (1000ppfd on 18/6 or 1500ppfd on 12/12) if running high amounts of CO2, higher temps, higher humidity and higher EC.

All 4 Gelato are edging a head.
Both strains cola’s are around the same height, two nice flat canopy’s and buds forming nicely.
Day 35. Light intensity 600-900ppfd.
Height:
gelato 22inch
Zkittlez 20inch
Day 38. Light intensity 600-900ppfd
Height:
Gelato 24inch
Zkittlez 21inch
Day 40. Light intensity 600-900ppfd (lights 22inch)
Height:
Gelato 25inch
Zkittlez 21inch
Stretch pretty much over!
Started the week off defoliating leaves blocking lower bud sites, I’ll wait a few days then lollipop and remove any lower bud sites that won’t amount to anything.
Gelato stretched much more so internodes are spaced much further part, they also look much weaker that the Zkittlez.
Zkittles have bounced back from topping, leaf trimming, training and the autopot system much better than the Gelato. Their buds are twice the size already.
Upped the EC to 1.5 but both showing tip burn so I’ll dial it back to EC 1.3 I’ll keep an eye on them.
Let’s see who packs on the most weight.
Day 42. Light intensity 600-900ppfd (22inch)
Height:
Gelato 24-26
Zkittlez 21-22
Day 44. Same height and light intensity.
Zkittlez still slightly bigger. Both bulking up nicely.
Everything growing nice. Gelato catching up to zkittlez on size.
Zkittlez Showing a little nute burn on tips and gelatos lower leaves are browning quicker so if they weren’t both on the same autopot system I’d have the Zkittlez around 1.1 EC but the gelatos could handle more I’d say, 1.3-1.4 EC.
Day 49. Both looking good and packing on size.
After lowering my EC from 1.5 to 1.1 last week due to tip burn, 6 out of 8 started to loose a lot of colour, lower leaves yellow and top leaves pale green so not getting enough nutrients.
Been struggling with heat, could be stress and ph out. I checked ph and it was pretty low.
So I’ve addressed heat issues, upped my ph and upped EC to 1.6 and they are looking much happier.
Changed light schedule to 16-8 so they have more recovery time and adjusted lights so they are still getting 45 DLI.
Day 56. Taller plants showing light stress on leaves so upped calmag to help with potential deficiencies.
Heat had stunted bud growth a little, hoping now temps are good this week they’ll pack on size.
Day 59. Washed the water tank out and put them on plain PH 7.0 water to raise the PH a little, it’s sitting round 6.2-6.3 in the pot/root zone.
Maybe why I’ve had the chlorosis on the leaves. phosphorus Deficiency due to low PH?
I’ll put them on their feed again tomorrow and start bud boom and keep PH around 7.0.
All trichomes are milky so maybe 2 more weeks?
One week (ish) on feed.
One week (ish) on plain water.
3 days no water no light. Chop.
Really want to let them go as long as possible for some good weight. Probably 40% amber.
Not much to report. Flower size pretty much the same, can’t seem to get them to grow bigger. Same issue last few grows around mid flower.
Upped my nutes a little and lowered my lights a touch.
All trichomes milky.
I’d say one more week then flush.
Day 63. Starting to get more colours. Hopefully they pack on a bit more size.
Day 64. I’ve struggled with what I thought was deficiencies mid flower but also been getting tip burn. After doing a bit of research on chlorosis I’ve determined it’s light stress. I spot checked my canopy with my LED light meter to get an average ppfd.
The DLI is 43-45 @ 18-6 light schedule, it should be 37-40.
I’ve adjusted my light schedule to 14-10 which brings me into the perfect range for my light height and dropped my EC back down to 1.0.
Next run I’ll adjust light height and schedule first before chasing deficiency’s with more nutrients.
The damaged leaves mid to late flower obviously impacted their ability to photosynthesis, no wonder my numbers are always low.
Hairs are changing colour and buds are getting dense. No sign of amber trichomes yet.
Upped my EC a little as the Zkittles are showing chlorosis really bad and I might have another 3-4 days before trichomes change. Then I’ll plain water them for 3 days and cut all water and sit them in the dark for 3 days.
Day 71. Hoping 7-10 days till harvest. Should pack on a bit of weight before then 🤞🏽
Day 76. All trichomes still frosty.
Leaves still battling chlorosis. Checked soil PH and it’s 5.0. EC must have been to high and temps too high creating a back log in the soil.
I’m running 8.2 water through them now, I’ll check every 24hours till the soil is within range then switch to 6.5 for final flush.
As soon as I see 30% amber it’s water off lights off for 3 days.
Thanks for stopping by
Low soil PH has caused severe leaf chlorosis.
I’ve upped the water PH to 8.0 to try and get the root zone around 6-6.5 so they will ripen.
A combination of too much light (a high DLI) EC too high and hot weather over a number of weeks has caused lock out. Soil PH is 5!
There’s a few amber thricomes on the leaves, just waiting for buds to change then I’m done.
3 days of no water and darkness then chop, should be done this week.
Day 77. Low soil ph has caused really bad chlorosis. I’ve learned a lot this run!
Going to finish them this week.
