Grow Specs: Breeder: Irie Genetics Strain: Sunkiss Genetic heritage: Platinum Tangie x Arise Germination rate: 6/6 Male:Female Ratio: ?:? Medium: Soil with enriched compost, full no till eventually. Update schedule: I will try to send out the updates every Saturday or Sunday. For more frequent updates, add me on Instagram @grimbolthedruid Grow Schedule to Date: Sprout: 4/27/18 Age: Day 1 as of 4/27/18 Updates/Observations: Just popped above ground yesterday! Rasta Jeff of Irie Genetics and the Grow From Your Heart Podcast sent me some seeds to document and test out so here we go! I am super excited to see what these genetics and this cross is capable of. It is one of my favorite podcasts that I have been listening to for a while and I would definitely recommend it if you enjoy cannabis culture and conversation. Also you can see his plants on IG @iriegenetics. For this grow I plan to select 9 of the best looking plants to go into my 100 gallon smart pot. Once I sex them I will cull all of the males and train the females into the holes that appear in the canopy and run my females to flower. Thanks to Tad Hussey at the KiS Organics Podcast who hooked me up with a representative at Blumat! I will have a reservoir hooked up to a bunch of Blumat soaker hoses that will keep the soil at a continuous moisture level. My goal is to grow the dankest, cleanest, medicine, as close to how nature does it, with minimal human interaction, mostly automated. In the near future my time is going to be limited so I will want to make the most of what time I have in the garden doing the stuff that I enjoy most like training or giving teas. Final home: 5'x5' tent, HLG 320w, 100 gallon smart pot. Suggestions welcome! Thanks Jeff! Cheers! -G

Grow Specs: Breeder: Irie Genetics Strain: SunKiss Genetic heritage: Platinum Tangie (Platinum x Tangie) x Arise (Golden Goat x Daybreaker) Germination rate: 6/6 Male:Female ratio: ?:? Medium: Soil with enriched compost, full no till eventually. Update schedule: I will try to send out the updates every Saturday or Sunday. For more frequent updates, add me on Instagram @grimbolthedruid Grow Schedule to Date: Sprout: 4/27/18 Age: Day 16 as of 5/13/18 Updates/Observations: - I am super impressed with how evenly matched all of these seedlings are. Alphas and the rest are just beginning to shake out which makes my job tough but it is a good problem to have! - Gave a few waterings of light Recharge but mostly just plain water. - When I transplanted, I sprinkled some mycorhizal fungi spores in the hole to ensure tap root infection. - Most of the transplants went very smoothly with no real soil disturbance. - Day 14 I added a light seeding of Dutch White Clover to serve as my cover crop this run. - Covered with straw to help with moisture retention, microbial home, carbon return, mulch layer, worm bedding layer, shade layer, etc. - Soaked thoroughly to full wet the soil. I plan to keep it moist from here on out. Methodology Update: I have decided to turn this run into a quick pheno hunt and then run the winning phenotype clones into the no till bed. My plan, now that they are transplanted, is to wait about 1.5 weeks to where I can take clones. After I take and label clones from all the plants, I plan to flip to flower and identify all males. I will then cull all male plants (clones included) and finish these females out in their two gallon homes for fun, growing them naturally to assess their inherent shape and characteristics. Then, after smoking and selecting my favorite plants, I will cull down to just my favorite mother plants. From those plants I will take clones, root, and run them into the 100 gallon Smart Pot where I will finally do a full no till bed run like I have dreamed of! Thanks for stopping by! G

I decided to take clones and sex them, then once I know sex, throw away all the male plants and the female clones as well, transplant the most vigorous veg plants into the pool and we are off to the races with full no till. Super excited to get into a bed. Hopefully next week I will be transplanting! Thanks for stopping by! G

Grow Specs: Breeder: Irie Genetics Strain: SunKiss Genetic heritage: Platinum Tangie (Platinum x Tangie) x Arise (Golden Goat x Daybreaker) Germination rate: 6/6 Male:Female ratio: 3:3 Medium: Full no-till. Built my soil bed with an inexact amount of; Black Gold: Organic, FF Strawberry Fields, Mother Earth Coco-Peat, Roots Original, homemade super soil, pumice, hydroton, FF Light Warrior, Peat Moss. Update schedule: I will try to send out the updates every Saturday or Sunday. For more frequent updates, add me on Instagram @grimbolthedruid Grow Schedule to Date: Sprout: 4/27/18 Age: Day 28 as of 5/26/18 Updates/Observations: - #2, 4, 5 have not shown male pre-flowers under inspection with loupe. - Planted all the remaining plants into the 100 gallon bed! So glad I potted them in there and I am officially running full no-till. - Sprinkled Mykos all over exposed roots and plant holes before transplanting. - Chopped and dropped all pre-flower male plants and runts. - Added lots of worms and worm castings from my compost bin. - Mixed in neem and karanja cake as well as cricket frass. - Planted a White Dutch Clover cover crop. - Removed some of the lower foliage. - Covered with a nice layer of straw and watered in with mykos and - Straw helps with moisture retention, microbial home, carbon return, mulch layer, worm bedding layer, shade layer, and many other advantages. - After topping I noticed all the stems were hollow. They started to show humidity stress so I looked and taped up the hole that refused to shut. They bounced back almost immediately. Methodology Update: The Dank Pool is finally live after almost a year of planning and preparation. I am really happy to be growing in this style after the many hours I have spent researching organic farming principles and getting more in touch with nature. Pretty excited for this upcoming grow! Very happy to be running some elite genetic testers. Hope to confirm some females soon! Thanks for stopping by! G

No pests spotted but it doesn't matter, IPM here we go! - I will apply the tea (diluted)as a foliar spray as well as mixed up with a little recharge as a soil drench tomorrow after at least 24 hours of brewing. At the direction of some high level seed breeders recommendations, I will be running this crop's light at 11 on /13 off to observe as much phenotypical expression as possible. - #2, 4, 5 have still not shown male pre-flowers under inspection with loupe. - Removed some of the lower foliage, nonviable tops, and any inward growing leaves that blocked nodes. - Results of the microbial tea were great! The plants were praying up to the light a few hours afterwards. - The girls are starting to stretch up tall! - Joshua Tree is pretty small and with all these leggy Sativas she might need to go back to the soil unfortunately or else it is going to be difficult to get any light to her. Most are showing pre-flowers and the beginning of the flower node cluster tops. - #2, 4, 5 have been confirmed to be female, showing female pre-flower clusters. - Removed some of the lower foliage, non-viable tops, and any inward growing leaves that blocked nodes. - Applied a compost tea made up of compost, neem meal, karanja cake, worm castings, Recharge, kelp meal, humic acids, cricket frass, and a little of my top soil from the no-till bed. - Installed a scrog net which I don't normally like but for this experience it seems to be working great. I have many plants of different heights and stretches so it is helping. - Sunkiss #2 is my favorite in terms of structure, node spacing, and growth. She may be the keeper dpending on terpenoid profile and potency. - Joshua Tree is still hanging in there but it is hard to tell if it has shown female pre-flowers yet because of where it is located. I will give them plain water for a few days to let them breathe a bit. - I almost don't believe myself and I haven't had anyone that can confirm for me but if you gently rub her sugar leaves, you get a strong orange soda syrup smell! It is amazing! - Towards the end of stretch, I think she probably doubled in height total. - Fantastic node spacing on all three plants. I would say that S4 is my favorite in terms of vigor and structure. - I was gifted some elite genetics pollen by a friend so I pollinated a branch on each plant. - The seeds are beginning to form inside the calyxes as they swell up. They vary in degrees of sweetness I would say. - The smell has gotten much stronger this week! - Joshua Tree is really resinous and smells very sweet and maybe like a berry, possibly blueberry or raspberry. - I was gifted some pollen from a male MAC2 plant and I pollinated a branch on each plant carefully, using a small paintbrush. - The seeds are beginning to form inside the calyxes as they swell up. *HARVEST UPDATE! Hi all, So it has been about 2 weeks since I chopped these mommas and everything turned out very well! The numbers look good and the smells are starting to come back in the jar. Absolutely dank so far with hints of the growing smells as well which I am really happy about. In another 2 weeks I will hopefully be back with as smoke report. There may be some stuff coming up for me that may prevent me from updating right away but I will eventually, don't worry! Strange flower structure on this mutant. - I germinated the next run! I am going to decide which one gets a diary soon! Thanks for stopping by! G

Definitely an excellent Sativa! I felt like I got three phenotypes: super sweet, sour orange, another was roadkill orange rind and the third was somewhere in between. This is one of the better orange strains I have smoked so far. I really liked the sweetness and sourness that came out of the shatter I made with it. Huge crowd pleaser that was requested a lot and I kind of wish I had taken a clone of #2 who turned out to be the best orange pheno. One tip was that she seemed to be sensitive to Nitrogen toxicity in late flower compared to her sisters. Other than that her veg speed was great and she was a champion in structure. I hit these three plants with some MAC pollen gifted to me by a friend. Collectively they pumped out about 1100 seeds all told which is awesome! Thanks Rasta Jeff for letting me try these out! They were amazing!

I had a great grow with these puppies in the pool! They were very stinky and this will most likely go down as one of my favorite plants to grow. Very nice structure, node spacing, and bud density. Would definitely recommend to anyone out there making concentrates too. I ran some through my Source Turbo by Extract Craft and it weas absolutely nuts how much it smelled like oranges. Among my family and friends, this was their favorite thing I have grown so far.

AWWWWWESOME 👏👏👏 It’s gonna be spectacular. All plants will respond to each other, their gonna make food for all where the strongest ones are gonna help the weakest ones.

@GrimbolTheDruid, I've seen it on a NattyG YouTube channel, it's the method he use, all the plants are working togethers in a perfect symbiosys.

@CaliGrown, You are killing me man! Thank you! Wish you were here to try some of this hash! I’m starting to get the hang of things. Just need to crop this next puppy and fresh freeze it.

@GrimbolTheDruid It sounds intuitive, and it concurs with nature, and I know you know your stuff. But I learned leaving clipped leaves on the dirt makes a home for the wrong kind of bugs. I have seen more bug activity when I allow leaves to collect. Please explain the benefit, and/or your experience with bugs when you mulch. Thanks

@growdoctordc, You are definitely correct in that it offers a good food source for the micro-arthropods and their population will increase with an increase in food supply/home. I practice insect pest management (IPM) at all times regardless of if I see pests so I spray and use neem and karanja teas regularly throughout the grow cycle. Returning all parts of the plant (and by extension nutrients) that are not used for production is sort of the backbone of no-till ideology. Without that, too much is removed from the system and imbalances arise. Everything is about balance from what I have found so far. Nothing in excess reduces the ability of pathogens or pests to infiltrate the environment. Sort of a 'no room left at the table' type of methodology. All that being said, this is my bed's maiden voyage so all I know is what I read. I am all book smart and little street smarts. Now that summer has come, I would like to look into experimenting with beneficial insects as well because I think at that point it is really starting to emulate nature. Thanks for stopping by! G

So no kiddie pool? Lol, I was really interested in that. Your plan sounds concise and well thought out. I’ll be watching with bated breath.
