Kicking off Indoor Grow #2 with 3 new strains and a Gemstone do over 😁 Starting with clones this time around and hoping it buys me a month of veg. Gemstone topped.
Plants are looking good and have received their first round of nutrients. Three clones still to be topped. Found some mildew/mold on the OKC and MC. Cranked up the wind and removed affected leaves throughout the week, looks Ok now 😁.
Removed the Orange Kush Cake from the tent due to ongoing mold issues and replaced with a clone of the Bubblegum from Grow 1. The clone had started to flower but was cut back and returned to veg. Looking forward to a better result this time around 😁
Vegging along nicely. Skipped nutrients this watering.
Planning is underway to switch this to an outdoor grow to take advantage of a 6 week head start on the season. This will provide an opportunity for a 16 week veg and if lucky some big bushes. 15 gallon pots prepped and ready to go with Promix, bottoms removed and placed in standard vegetable garden. 😁
Transitioning to an outdoor grow. Moving plants outdoors daily until frost risk ends. Permanent replant outdoors planned for June, 2 in pots, 2 in ground. Was dealing with some mold issues on MC and PPM which appear to have resolved after a couple days outside 😁
Finished the transition to an outdoor grow ahead of schedule due to 30C temps. Mold issues are gone and plants are catching onto their new homes fast. Plants have been in veg for 42 days with an estimated 86 days to go before the start of flower 😁

Plants are loving outdoors but temperatures have fallen to 2C with heavy rain. Brought in the 2 movable pots, holding Bubblegum and PPG, into the house until a change in the weather. Regardless the plants still managed to grow between 6 and 9" this week.
Mandarin Cookies: Height 20", Planted in ground pre-mixed with compost and dry fertilizer, watered as part of garden

Temperatures ranged from 9C to 27C with 2 lengthy rainstorms during the week.
Growth for the week ranged from 2" to 5"
Mandarin Cookies: Height 22" Watered as part of garden
Gemstone: Height 26" Watered 1 gal no extra nutes
Bubblegum: Height 27" Watered 4 gal 1.5ml/l Advanced Nutrient mix
Power Puff Girls: Height 32" Watered 4 gal 1.5ml/l Advanced Nutrient mix
Midweek update to show result of lower plant defoliation: Always difficult to cut off what took 2 months to grow but the goal is large cola tops and no mold/bugs so clip clip 😁 Plants just endured 2 days of storms and 3" of rain. Looking for the next opportunity to replace the nutrients in the Promix containers but all is still soaked with more storms in the forecast. Just hoping it doesn't hail!
End of Week
Countdown: Plants have been in veg for 63 days with an estimated 65 days to go before the Start of Flower 😁
Temperatures ranged from 18C overnight to 32C daytime. Multiple storms brought >3" of rain making it difficult to replace the nutrients in the Bubblegum and Power Puff Girls. Finally added 4gal to each plant just before the next rain hit. Good thing the Promix drains so quickly. 😁 On the flip side the Gemstone and MC in the ground pretty much take care of themselves 👍 So far it appears all the grow medium options (In ground, Promix and the 50% soil/50% Promix) are performing the same. The big growth difference appears to be almost entirely Sun duration related.
Growth for the week ranged from 5" (MC) to 7" (PPG)
Mandarin Cookies: Height 27" Watered as part of garden
Bubblegum: Height 32" Watered 4 gal 1.5ml/l Advanced Nutrient mix
Gemstone: Height 34" Watered 1 gal no extra nutes
Power Puff Girls: Height 39" Watered 4 gal 1.5ml/l Advanced Nutrient mix
Countdown: Plants have been in veg for 70 days with an estimated 58 days to go before the Start of Flower 😁
Temperatures ranged from 6C overnight to 30C daytime. More storms and another inch of rain. Still had to water the the Bubblegum and Power Puff Girls 4 gal each to keep the potted Promix gals rolling.
Growth for the week ranged from 4" (BG, GEM) to 7" (MC). Keeping up a steady defoliation of leaves and branches with the goal of maintaining 10 or so main branches per plant.
Mandarin Cookies: Height 34" Watered as part of garden
Bubblegum: Height 36" Watered 4 gal 2ml/l Advanced Nutrient mix
Gemstone: Height 38" Watered 1 gal no extra nutes
Power Puff Girls: Height 44" Watered 4 gal 2ml/l Advanced Nutrient mix
Midweek update: 3 days, 1" of rain, and up to 5 inches of growth. The Bubblegum soaked up 6 gallons with half strength Advanced Nutrients and then a thunderstorm dropped an inch of rain before I could continue watering. While checking for damage I discovered both leaf hopper and striped cucumber beetles have found the plants. Pest control has begun 😞.
The Gemstone grew a whopping 5 inches in 3 days trying to beat out the tomatoes. Im starting to think the soil Promix combo, pot bottom cut out and sitting on top of the larger garden, is really starting to pay off. PPG is still tallest at 47 inches and is in 100% Promix but Gemstone is catching up.
End of Week
Countdown: Plants have been in veg for 77 days with an estimated 51 days to go before the Start of Flower 😁
Did some serious defoliation of branches and finally pared the plants down to their main branches.
Mandarin Cookies: Height 37"
Bubblegum: Height 40" Watered 10 gal 2ml/l Advanced Nutrient mix
Gemstone: Height 46" Watered 1 gal no extra nutes
Power Puff Girls: Height 49" Watered 4 gal 2ml/l Advanced Nutrient mix
End of Week
Countdown: Plants have been in veg for 84 days and look like they're ready to explode in flower but still have an estimated 44 days to Go 😁
More serious defoliation of lower and inside branches plus bug eaten leaves. Another cloudy week of heavy rain, heat and wind still yielded up to 5" of growth.
Mandarin Cookies: Height 41" Rainwater only
Bubblegum: Height 43" Watered 8 gal 2ml/l Advanced Nutrient mix
Gemstone: Height 51" Rainwater only
Power Puff Girls: Height 54" Watered 4 gal 2ml/l Advanced Nutrient mix
End of Week
Countdown: Plants have been in veg for 91 days and have an estimated 37 days to before the Start of Flower 😁
Another week of clouds, heavy rain and cooler temps with plenty more defoliation work and bug killing. The rains keep washing out the Advanced Nutrients from the Bg and PPG 100% Promix containers resulting in slowing growth and some signs of deprivation. The MC in ground and Gemstone in the pot/ground mix now have the advantage with the readily available garden nutes. The Gemstone is looking especially good as it battles the tomatoes for space.
Mandarin Cookies: Height 47" Rainwater only
Bubblegum: Height 46" Watered 6 gal 2ml/l Advanced Nutrient mix
Gemstone: Height 57" Rainwater plus 2 gal mixed with custom water soluble veg nutes
Power Puff Girls: Height 56" Watered 4 gal 2ml/l Advanced Nutrient mix
Countdown: Plants have been in veg for 98 days and have an estimated 30 days to go before the Start of Flower
Heavy rain, wind and heat was the theme for the week. Moved PPF out into the open to round out the growth, thought I was going to lose her in the wind at one point. Again I had to replace Advanced Nutrients in the Bg and PPG pots after the rains. I feel fortunate I haven't burned or drown anything yet, especially now as nutes are at max. Plenty of defoliation required as the in ground plants battle for space.
Mandarin Cookies: Height 50" Rainwater only
Bubblegum: Height 50" Watered 7 gal 4ml/l Advanced Nutrient mix
Gemstone: Height 63" Rainwater plus 4 gal mixed with custom water soluble veg nutes
Power Puff Girls: Height 59" Watered 6 gal 4ml/l Advanced Nutrient mix
Countdown: Plants have been in veg for 105 days and have an estimated 23 days to go before the Start of Flower
Lots of sun and heat through the week kept me busy watering. Moved Ppf to its new location in the vegetable garden and tied down it main branches. Bg and Ppf growth still didn't keep up with the Gemstone growth making use of the general garden fertilizer.
Mandarin Cookies: Height 54" Rainwater only
Bubblegum: Height 54" Watered 15 gal over the week and used over 500ml of Advanced Nutrient mix
Gemstone: Height 73" Rainwater plus 4 gal mixed with 4tsp custom water soluble veg nutes
Power Puff Girls: Height 72" Watered 15 gal over the week and used over 500ml of Advanced Nutrient mix
Countdown: Plants have been in veg for 112 days and have an estimated 16 days to go before the Start of Flower
Lots of sun, heat and rain through the week along with watering and defoliation. Plenty of growth and plenty of work keeping the vegetables and plants separated.
Mandarin Cookies: Height 57" x 36" Rainwater only
Bubblegum: Height 60" x 48" Watered 12 gal over the week using max Advanced Nutrient mix. Flushed with half strength nutes and Mass Microbial halfway though the week.
Gemstone: Height 78" x 50" Rainwater plus 4 gal mixed with 4tsp custom water soluble veg nutes
Power Puff Girls: Height 70" x 48" Watered 12 gal over the week using max Advanced Nutrient mix. Flushed with half strength nutes and Mass Microbial halfway though the week.
Countdown: Plants have been in veg for 119 days and have an estimated 9 days to go before the Start of Flower.
Hard to believe we're coming to the end of Veg but good thing as its getting difficult to keep the potted plants in good condition. Hoping I can keep it rolling during Flower. Each plant is needing 2 - 3 gallons a day and the Ppg has toppled twice in storms even with the tie downs and extra weight. Still plenty of growth and plenty of work removing leaves keeping the vegetables and plants separated. Next week starts the final major trimming before flower. I can only imagine what flowers might develop on the Ppg given the amount of resin this plant can produce.
Mandarin Cookies: Height 60" x 36" Rainwater only
Bubblegum: Height 64" x 60" Flushed with plain water and Mass Microbial halfway though the week.
Gemstone: Height 80" x 50" Rainwater plus 6 gal mixed with 4tsp custom water soluble veg nutes
Power Puff Girls: Height 74" x 48" Flushed with plain water and Mass Microbial halfway though the week.
Plants have finished their first week of flower with the Power Puff Girl the furthest along and the Mandarin Cookies with the least show so far. Lots of severe weather this week and the worst of it took out 1 of the major Power Puff Girl branches. Hard to watch a branch go that was bigger than anything in the tent. Even with the weather the Promix potted gals took in more than 25 gal each through the week. The Gemstone, in the raised pot and bottom removed, still needed 6 gal this week on top of its access to the garden. All have been switched to water soluble flower nutrients with the occasional Advanced nutrient treat.
Mandarin Cookies: Height 60" x 48"
Bubblegum: Height 64" x 60"
Gemstone: Height 86" x 60"
Power Puff Girls: Height 80" x 48"
At the end of Week 2 stretch, the plants major branch colas are showing themselves, ~20 across the 4 plants. Power Puff Girls is the furthest along and I believe its due to the stress from the lost branch. Completed another mass defoliation. Started tie downs of the major branches to the garden structures in the hopes reducing damage in the upcoming fall storms. Promix potted gals took in more than 25 gal each through the week. The Gemstone, in the raised pot and bottom removed, still needed 10 gal this week on top of its access to the garden. All have been switched to water soluble flower nutrients with the occasional Advanced nutrient treat.
Mandarin Cookies: Height 67" x 48"
Bubblegum: Height 72" x 72"
Gemstone: Height 89" x 60"
Power Puff Girls: Height 82" x 48"
Week 3 stretch is done and they're becoming tough to measure. But they're Big, from the 5ft 6in Mandarin Cookies to the jumbo Gemstone 7ft 6in by 6ft wide. Power Puff Girls continues to lead in flower growth and it needs to hurry as its all I can do to brace up the remaining branches against splitting. So lucky there haven't been any serious storms recently. Defoliation continues daily and more Gemstone tie downs were added. Each of the 3 potted gals took in 35gals of water each this week! Nutes are a touch above full strength and mid week was a plain water and Mass Microbial flush.
Mandarin Cookies: Height 68" x 48"
Bubblegum: Height 72" x 72"
Gemstone: Height 90" x 72"
Power Puff Girls: Height 82" x 48"
Gemstone continued to stretch through Week 4 and hit 8'. But Power Puff Girls remains the furthest into flower with the best chance of finishing.
Another 5gal of water per day per plant through the week with one day of plain water and a 1 day dry out.
Had some heavy winds but the plant ties held up. The Bubblegum with it's round shape still hasn't needed ties.
I've been thinking Growdiaries needs another smell scale because I believe in another week or so I'll rate the smell as "Stinking up the Neighbourhood".
This week brought storms and cooler weather. The Bubblegum took a topple early in the week and the Power Puff Girls flowers fell under the rain leaving me with lots of work. Moved the Bubblegum, tucking it beside the Gemstone for support and added many more ties to hold up the Ppg flowers.
A full dose of Fox Farms Beastie Bloomz and a half dose of custom Veg mix was used to water but given the weather watering was reduced to 20gal per plant for the week.
And finally, I stepped out into the yard this morning, smelled skunk and then realized it was the plants. Tis the season 😁
The Ppg stole the show for the week as its closest to finishing and has the smell to prove it. The Ppg is advertised to finish in as short as 7 weeks, well see. Its sticky and stinky with a pungent smell of skunk. Its at least 3 weeks ahead of the Gemstone and 4 weeks ahead of the Bubblegum which I expect will both see frost before theyre done.
The weather made watering interesting this week with 2 days no water, 3 days full fertilizer, and 2 days water only, about 20gal each in total plus rain.
The Gemstone is showing massive potential for big flowers and the Bubblegum has so many stems I finally took the time to defoliate the bottom 3ft. The plant is too dense causing the centre foliage to go straggly.
Turns out the smallest of the plants, the Mandarin cookies has the densest flower with the most resin. Be interesting to see what the yield turns out to be on this one. 😁
Well the plants took a beating this week with 4 days of rain and high winds, over 100mm of rain down in a single day. The ties held and only 2 broken branches overall. The Bubblegum branches finally started to fall but still don't need any support. It was nice not having to water much, only 10gal each for the week. So all in all it's still all Good.
The Power Puff Girl is ready for harvest any day but I'm holding out hoping for a final warm dry one. I cropped a crown before the rains began and the smell and sticky is already intense.
Mandarin Cookies has the densest flower, can't wait to see how it matures. Gemstone remains a Beast that looks like it will need until Nov to finish, we'll see. Already chopped off one flower with bud rot but no signs of any more.
Bring on the Sun 😁
Harvest is underway for Ppg and Mc while Gemstone and Bubblegum keep chugging along into the next round of storms. The Gemstone still has a heavy set of dark green leaves for protection. It'll be interesting to see if they make it to first snow. 😁 Back to work 😁
Spent the week stripping leaves and harvesting the Ppg. All but the Bubblegum have ripe tops ready for harvest. Weather has been perfect for finishing and looks like there might be another week or two left before everything will have to come down. Once the Ppg is in the Can I'll start cropping whatever is ripe as fast as I can dry and trim 😁
Its been a busy couple weeks of harvest with everything brought down but the Bubblegum which will hopefully finish in the next week. Cold wet weather is setting in. Hoping for just a few more days of sun with temps above 15C.
Gemstone like Ppg carried just shy of a pound of flower. Adding in the popcorn brought the total yield up to 850g. Even with regular defoliation this plant needed alot of trimming at harvest time 😁
Great Grow! After over half a year of care it was tough to cut down these plants. But it was a great harvest with ~3lbs of tops and another 3 of popcorn (all strains). Time to start sifting and heat up the press. 😁
