4/18/21. I'm using a 75/25 mix of Happy Frog/Pearlite with 2 Tbsp of Dolomite lime and 1cup of organic worm casings in a 3 gallon fabric pot. I made a 1 cup hole in the center of the soil and filled it with seed starter soil, soaked the starter soil and lightly sprayed the whole pot with distilled water. After dropping the seeds about a 1/4 inch deep I covered the starter soil with glass cups. Seed was sown on the evening of 3/17.
I'm using a spray mister to keep the top of the soil damp and the center wet. 2 or 3 times a day, or as needed.
I intend to use distilled water the entire grow letting the lime and Recharge microbes hold the PH of the soil between 6 and 6.5. I will be checking run-off with PH drops from time to time and adjust if needed.
I've used the lime/Recharge method to fix low PH in my current organic grow and it has worked well.
4/21/21, day 4. All three beans have broke ground. Not much to see. Crimson has unfurled her false leaves. Mellow and Sky are slill unwinding.
4/24. Day 7 from seed.
Just keeping the soil moist with an sprayer everyday. Fed them some Recharge microbes infused water, maybe 2 ounces each.
4/29. Day 12.
I use the glass to cover the seedlings while spraying the soil. About 4 oz of distilled water (7.0 Ph). Healthy growth. Planning on LST for one, Topping another and Super Cropping the third. We'll see.
5/3. Day 15.
It looks like the roots made it through the starter soil and down to the Happy Frog. Growth has picked up. Their about 28 inches from the light, rotated every few days. They got another shot of Recharge, otherwise just water. Mainly make-up for evaporation.
The rest of the week was uneventful. Crimsom did start drinking more. At 6 inches, she is the tallest, Working towards the 5th node now. The other two are picking up the pace .
May 9, day 21.
Crimson has some odd growth starting at the second node. The side shoot resembles a celery stalk up to its first node where it splits in two. I've never seen this before but I'm rolling with it. Her first pruning removed the bottom side shoots and one fan leaf as it would be in the the soil after the first LST. I used some 14 gage wire to pull each of the stems after the first split. About 45 degrees. Not messing with Sky and Mellow yet.
May 11, day 23.
I adjusted the LST on Crimsom a bit. The celery shoot pulled the wire right out of the soil 💪 The split is sending up two equal shoots that I will train when they're ready. Sky is growing normally. About 5 inches. I took the bottom shoots off. She showed no signs of stress the following day, still vigorous growth. Mellow Is growing out of her malformed foliage and doing fine.
May 13, day 25.
Crimsom starting to bolt. That was quick. All three are uptaking more water now, just H2o and microbes.
May 16, day 28.
I got a close up Crimsons celery stalk. Strange but healthy growth. As you can see, She's in preflower now. Sky and Mellow are looking good and getting ready to bolt. They all got a top dress yesterday, just water and microbes as needed.
May 17, day 29.
Posted a shot of all 3 girls on day 29. Note the difference, Crimson has some freakish growth. She was further ahead since the beginning. Now at 16 inches. I'll get a photo of the celery stalk the next time she's out. The first node has an equal triple split. There are 4 mains with long internode spacing. Flowering rapidly as well. The other two are very standard indica structure.
I'm shooting for an 18 to 24 inch finish, but it looks like they may get bigger. The only LST is the bottom branches, so far. After pruning the first side branches off. I usually cut those as soon as the plants exhibits good growth. This seems to stimulate the branches just above. They don't amount to much anyway.
Still no additional nutrients yet. 3 gallons of good organic soil will get you pretty far.
May 22, day 34.
These three bullies pushed old GC right out of the tent! No worries she's fine and finishing up in a nice spot 😎 I'll update that diary tomorrow.
The two indica are standing 20 and 22 inches, still stretching. As soon as I rearranged the tent they widened out as well. Crimson is the sativa leaning phenotype, she's at 28 inches. I thought I would have more time to train these girls but they are unruly 💪 Super aggressive growth. Uptake has tripled. Looks like they may want some extra nutes now. Next watering.
See ya next week 👋
May 26, day 38.
Robust and aggressive growth! I could not control Crimson, I tried. She would twist and turn if I went too far. The dominant cola more than doubled in height in 4 days! So I attempted to bend her to match the others using a wire form. I've used this method before with great results, I see it in other diaries as well. Well Crimson wont have it, nope! By morning the wire was off and she kinked over but did not break. I'm supporting her now with a wire from the top. I think it be fine, all the tops are pretty even.
The two indica phenotypes got some ligh training.
