Starting my second batch. This will consist of three strains (Sweet nurse Auto CBD - Sweet seeds, Purple punch Auto - 42FastBuds, and Banana Kush Auto - Seedsman) and will be grown both indoors and outdoors. The result - six diaries (hopefully 😀).
This one is for the indoor grow of Sweet Nurse CBD Auto strain from Sweet seeds.
The packaging contained 3 + 1 seeds and I will divide that to two plants indoors and two plants outdoors.
Germination procedure is the same as with my first batch - paper towel method - i.e. water mixed with liquid seaweed.
The seed bank doesn't provide any detailed genetics on this strain only that is is a cross between unknown CBD strain and unknown ruderalis 😍.
The strain is CBD rich with THC:CBD ratio of 1:1 to 1:2 (5 - 10% THC and 10 - 16% CBD).
It is Indica dominant strain apparently producing bushy plant with large main cola and plenty of small buds on side branches. It should be fast taking only 9 weeks from germination to harvest. It should also be relatively small reaching between 60 and 110cm.
I don't know the success rate of my germination but when I do, I will let you know.
Update: The seeds took a day to crack their shells and today I transferred them to a pot (1l) for the seedling stage. The soil mixture was as I stated above and they will get their nuts from the RQS Easy Bloom tablets. I added a little bit of bat guano to the mixture and some root powder. I love it when the seeds crack 😍. Will update when things evolve further.
Update: day 5 - both of my girls are peeking out of their soil. The both still have their covers on but the first step is done.
Week 1
It has been seven days since putting the seeds on a paper towel. In the meantime they have managed to crack their shells after which I transferred them into soil. It seems they like it and they managed come out of soil and started stretching. They are now reaching 4cm (No.1) and 5cm (No.2). they also have four nice round leaves.
I am watering them every second day not waiting for the soil to dry too much.
They are in a small compartment, designed for seedling stage, with two FL baton lights each using 25W, and a heater that keeps the temperature at 25C. I don't have the timer installed yet so I can't put them to sleep at night but since it worked the first time I will not change that yet.
I am using rain water and adding just a tiny bit of Miracle Gro Soluble Plant food with N-P-K values 24-8-16. I don't want to burn them 😋
Update: day 5 of week 1
The girls are growing nicely, they are now 5 and 6 cm high (No.1 and 2 respectively). They are adding leaves as can be seen on the update pics.
Week 2 of vegging, 16 days since putting them on my paper towel.
The girls are looking OK. There isn't much going on in this first few weeks of their life. They haven't grown that much in the past week but they are adding leaves. For now, they both sport three pairs although the third one is still very small. They are corrugated and a lovely green colour.
SN No.1 is now 5.5cm high. I am using water and just a tiny bit of Miracle Gro Water Soluble All Purpose Plant food, I don't want to burn her.
Her sister is now 7cm high, and I am using the same watering arrangement as with the first one.
I reduced the temperature in their room a few degrees but not because of this two girls but because of their outdoor sister, of which one is turning all yellow and the other is not progressing. And because of the two of them they are all suffering the same faith. I might move them to the growing room where temperature is lower and which has a 20/4 light cycle. It might help them a bit 😄.
Because I lost (well, I didn't actually loose them but they just didn't crack) Banana Kush I decided to quickly include another few seeds and picked up Hindu Kush (Sensi Seeds) Auto Fem and moving the problematic girls to another room will free up some space for the HKs. But that will be of course in another diary.
For now, fellow growers, happy 1st of May, you deserve it since you all work so hard and until the update, enjoy
Week 3 of flowering
I moved the two girls into their final 11l pots. It seems they like it since they grew in one day from 8cm to 10cm (SN No.1) and 10cm to 12cm (SN No.2). They have nice green colour and both have 5 sets of leaves already. I also fimmed both of them so hopefully they will produce some nice main stems.
They have been moved to the growth room where the other girls reside and are thus subject to the same conditions as they are (45% RH, temperature of 22C, and 18/6 light cycle). I will probably increase their light schedule to 20/4 when the old girls get out of the way.
In my first grow I went watering the girls in the inner half of the pot to make their roots grow down and only after two weeks started watering the outer parts of the pot as well in order to encourage their roots' growth outward as well. This time though, I decided to follow Ganjagrandaddy and started initially watered the outer half of the pot, and will later on start watering the inner part as well. By that i might force them to spread their roots wide and then move down as well (though I don't know how much of the really works since I would say that all the soil gets wet anyway 😊).
She has 60% Indica in her genes and 40% sativa. Theoretically that means they will probably grow more in a pine shape. I will need to spread the lower branches wide enough to accommodate for the fimmed top (if it happens) however if they (or one) turn more sativa like I might go for some main lining to see how I can do that.
Week 4 for my indoor Sweet Nurses
The girls are doing great. They have nice green colour, and No.2 even managed to grow a bit (reaching 15cm and thus adding 3 in the last week) despite being beheaded last week 😇. No.1 on the other hand didn't add anything to her height but she still looks great. Fiming might have stalled her growth for now but otherwise she is OK.
I have them in the room with their older sister and are thus having only 18 hours of light a day, but when they move out, I will increase that to 20h/day.
At the moment they are not thirsty and have only been watered once a week ago.
So, this is it for now, if something comes up, you'll be the first to know (well, second, after me of course).
