Used paper towel method to get a tap root to come out and then popped it into a Rapid Rooter tap down. Sprouted 3/14/21 from Rapid Rooter on a southward facing window getting a lot of sunlight.
Root was coming out of bottom of Rapid Rooter so I transplanted into a solo cup with some FoxFarms Ocean Forest Potting Soil and stuck it under a humidity dome and heating mat set to 75 F. I put enough soil in to have the Rapid Rooter sticking out a little bit, not sure if this did anything but later on I covered it. Been spraying base and edges with some distilled water every few days.
Moved into tent as the plant was outgrowing the humidity dome. Plant is under a Mars TSW 2000 LED Light. I have an exhaust fan and carbon filter but since its just this one plant in this tent I sealed up all but two parts of the tent, one for a 4" fan up in one of the top ports and one 4" oscilatting fan near the intake portion of the tent.
I continued misting the plant every once in a while with some distilled water thinking that might be beneficial but some redditors think that may have led to some of the burn holes I got in later weeks.
Flipped light schedule to 24/0 as the temperature was dropping too low in the tent at night and I didn't want to use a space heater to correct it. Started to LST this week. Not pictured is a 15 inch plastic saucer i bought to collect runoff under the smart pot. This saucer proved to not be tall enough when watering to runoff so I ordered some 13 inch Gro Pro Pot Elevators to use in the next week.
Started to defoliate and LST a lot more. Messy wiring on the LST but I think it is turning out well. Gonna start measuring my runoff next week to see if I need nutes yet or not. Also instead of all this messy wiring I'm just going to create a small loop with the wire and hook the longer wire connected to the smart pots and possibly use some small items to weigh down the ties so they continuously lightly stress the branches to bend.
Bud sites are starting to show signs of flowering, I started trimming off the bottom bud sites which were close to touching the ground to prevent mold and focus light on the most exposed bud sites.
On 4/24 I watered with a half dose of nutrients PH-adjusted to 6.5-6.8 using Fox Farm Cultivation Nation 3 Part using their week #6 schedule to see if it would benefit the plant. While watering I got some drops of water on leaves and I think they caused a very small portion on 3 of the top leaves to yellow.
Note to self: Water plants then train the plants. I trained the plants before watering and then most of the bending I did undid itself now that I view this in hindsight.
On 5/6 I noticed that the new leaf growth on the main cola started to show signs of brown and bronze spots along with some lower leaves exposed to direct light. I decided to check the runoff PH and PPM of the soil with a TDS tester. The runoff PPM was a whopping 3000+ PPM and the soil ph was acidic (Also the last feeding I added nutes to the soil without letting it runoff, that might have had a hand in this). I don't think I've watered till runoff before and this could have been the issue. I flushed with distilled water until the PPM got to around 1000 and the PH was 6.5ish. Since then it does not seem like new brown and bronze spots have formed on any new leaves and I will probably not be adding anymore nutes into the soil for the rest of the grow. I trimmed off the browned leaves but left a few spots to monitor if it spreads.
This week I've been noticing that my newer leaves on my tops and newer fan leaves on the lower part of the plant seem to be exhibiting some sort of deficiency or issue. I see brown/dark spots on these leaves. I flushed the soil last week because of some other issue and noticed my runoff PPM was 3k+ so I got that down to about 800-1000ish and the runoff PH was right about 6.5. I added 5ml of Cal Mag Plus and 3.75ml of FF Cultivation Nation Bloom on Day 61 along with 5ml of Cal Mag+ on Day 64 since all I've been using this grow is distilled water.
I'm still defoliating and removing 10-12 light blocking leaves every 2-3 days.
I fed with about a 3/4 recommended dose of Fox Farm Cultivation Nation Bloom nutrients and 5ml dose of cal mag+ the other week for watering and started seeing the brown and rust color patches on newer leaves of the plant. I'm not exactly sure what deficiency is going on right now but I did flush the soil again back down to around 600ppm, ph 6.5 and an ec around 1.3. Hopefully after day 67 this might help correct it.
Thought this was finishing up and may have prematurely flushed away nutrients. Day 74 new growth seems to have phosphorous or potassium deficiencies. Next watering on Day 76 I'll feed with half to a third strength of nutrients. My soil runoff PPM is very low now 300-400ppm when feeding with distilled water with a runoff PH of 6.5ish. Basement temps are rising due to high 80s temperature and RH is rising due to rain, may need to quickly order a dehumidifier for next few days of rainstorms.
Buds are very dense and super resinous right now but the trichomes and pistils suggest that I may have at least another week or two before flushing.
The smell is very piney in the tent.
Day 79 Buds are super dense and are getting really frosty now.
Day 80 Looking under a jewelers loupe the trichomes are mostly cloudy and at least half of the pistils are brown. Hopefully this is ready to chop in about a week?
Day 83 Watered with a little more than a gallon of distilled water.
Day 88 Just feeding distilled water to the plant until the trichomes turn milky and partially amber. Been very humid the last few days and its hard to keep the tent under 45% RH, hopefully no rot or mold happens.
Harvest day has finally come on Day 97 of this strain! Overall a lot of decent sized nugs with good density to them although we'll see what it looks like after hanging for about a week. For my future grows I will pull my branches further apart or maybe SCROG along with some lollypopping, If my buds weren't so densely packed the light would have reached further down for some even denser and fatter nugs.
Got a whole bag full of larf that I put in the freezer and will process it at a later time.
Nothing wrong with that mate, trim any more and you'll be cutting bud off. If you don't mind having a load of shakey goodness left over for edibles / hash then trim away, but I'd be happy with that.
