Week 2. Vegetation

The weird one seems to be taking off, and the other one seems kind of stunted. Because these both have issues during the seedling stage, I popped another 2 in solo cups. I'll grow those to week 2/3 and then we'll see if one of these needs to go.

What a ride. So the 2 that stunted and mutated seem to be jamming so I started LST when they grew their 4th node. The seedlings in the solos I would have liked to go 3-5 more days to keep the root ball in tact during transplant but my schedule required it to happen now. One went in perfectly to the Living Soil mix I made with NLS, FFHF and COMS. Generous helpings of Mykos around the transplant area and a sprinking on top of the soil. Watered 3 cups each and now I'll leave them alone and hope they start jamming again in a day or two. Hopefully I wont miss time on these autos but I read these tend to go long and big so I feel like this is a good enough gamble. If they take and start doing well I'll probably have to pull out the mutated one and say goodbye. I dont think this 2x2.5 can handle more than 3, ideally 2 autos or one good photo.

I got confused about what day of what week I was in. I was thinking of day 0 as day 1, and had my weeks confused. This is the second to last day of week 4. Looks like things are going well. The seedlings are 9 days behind the first 2. Mutated one is probably on the way out soon. Here we go!

This week showed some impressive growth. Continuing to train the top of the plant in a spherical shape following the rim of the pot. Branches are now long enough to start tying down and directing growth as well. Broke off a fan leaf by accident on the smaller plant which was painful. Tons of pre flower pistils but we havent hit flower yet. I'm hoping it holds off a tough to build out the veg stage a bit more. Smaller one needs a week to catch up, its doing well.

First worm casting tea applied with regular food first day of week 6. Theyre requiring daily LST to keep an open and flat canopy at this point. VPD is well locked it I believe, picked up a govee and its amazingly accurate. Finally some real numbers to look at. Ppfds are in the 500s to 600s. Canopy is a tad low due to to my lst being a tad on the low side but I think with enough cross ventilation they should be okay. Im assuming by the end if this week they'll be fully flowering.

Seems like plants are stretching in a good way. Tins of flower production but also intensely dense foliage. I think it may be time to do some real defoliation to let more light in and to trim off some of the bottom sites that will take away some energy from the top bud production. Week 8 here we come.

Holding the line, some cautious leaf trimming at first but I'm starting to get concerned about airflow through this dense canopy and I think the plants will be better able to breathe with some selective leaf trimming. So day 3 of week 8 I took off handfuls of leaves, the plants barely look like I touched them. Bush beasts these are. Hopefully they'll bounce back quickly.

Well things took a challenging turn this last week. Some difficult events in my life paralleled with the plants suddenly crashing. I was advised to flush so I did. 3x pot volume of recharge ph corrected water then 1x watering of 50% feed of bud bread and light reduction by 20-50%. Lux is dropped to 30-37k, lights at the top of the tent. Humidity is now an issue as its summer here so I added a small dehumidifier. Fans are up as is thr charcoal filter. Last week they smelled of salami, this week its becoming a candy perfume like smell. If you can, send me good energy as I'll need it to get these lovely plants to harvest, which I think may be about 4-5 weeks away at this point.

The flush seemed to help my situation ... What I believe happened was that I was letting the soil dry out too much. The PH spiked but it has stabilized. Perhaps the soil is now buffering properly now that its watered more. Still getting some stretch from "weirdo" the mutated/variegated plant. The other 2 are completely different phenotypes but theyre chugging along. I'm imagining 2-4 weeks at this point. Getting frosty!

Buds are fattening, trichs are developing. How am I doing? I'm imagining 2 to 4 weeks at this point.

Cruising along. I feel like I finally dialed my sense for how to water properly. I think its probably impossible to water too slowly as this single saturation and then time for a dry cycle seems good. I'm watering based on weight and how wet the base feels. And a few hours after I water I'm giving them just a touch more. This is helping them make it through a solid dry cycle without drying out so much theyre hydrophobic. Based on other harvests of this strain I would say I'm a week away, but looking at the buds and trichomes and pistils colors I want to guess 2 - 4 weeks. 14-16 weeks seems long for this type of auto but the plants decide, like an avocado. Trying to focus on paying attention to the "now" and enjoying what they are today rather than focusing on harvest. I am relieved that I believe I will make it to harvest with something passable, and thats all I was hoping for on this first try.

I'm super happy with my first grow, learned so much. I had an underwatering problem that caused some serious issues but I still hit the finish line. I'll wait longer for harvest next run and be sure to dial in my watering.
