trying Canuk Seeds 3rd grow.
April 20 - Canuk Seeds Bruce Banner Fast Fem x 2
April 22 - pop! that was fast
April 27 into soil, pro mix hp
April 28 - one of 2 didn't germinate (tap root but didn't break the surface), started another today.
naming #1 - Bruce and #3 - Banner
may 1 - new leaves forming on #1 Bruce
the 3rd seed germinated but had a tough time trying to get thru the Rockwell cube to the surface (the 2nd seed did the exact same and died, mistake #1).
I took it out and planted it in soil, very loosely near the surface. not sure what will happen...
May 3 - #3 "Banner" made it!
May 6 - Bruce transplanted to 1 gallon. was by accident, roots longer than I thought and had no choice but to transplant. would have liked to have waited until at least 4 weeks not 2. ugh mistake #2.
also moved both to tent as last grow has finished drying. led at 40% 21". 1 small fan indirectly.
May 8 - bought PH pen, measured filtered water at 6.9
add light nutes 250 ppm, ph 6.7
slight discoloration on Banner, turned down led a little
May 12 - Bruce already at 3rd node. Banner getting 1st set of leaves.
- calibrated ph pen to 7.0 (started at 7.2)
- nute watering at 5.9ph/499
- plain water at 6.9 ph/jug
may 14 - looking good, a few more leaves and a bit taller.
led at 50% / 21"
air temp is fairly high without the exhaust fan turned on
think I'll switch and try remo nutrients for these girls starting tomorrow. also going to add miicrobial mass every 2 weeks.
I'll top earlier this time and save a few weeks as well....that's the plan anyways
may 16 - weak nutrient water today with Remo. also Miicrobial Mass. only a drop of each nute. 6oz water Bruce, 2oz for Banner.
5.4 ph after nutes. hope it's not too low but I guess thats what the ph was for last grow without knowing accurately and she turned out fine
315 ppm
may 19 - transplanted Banner into 1 gallon
may 22 - having trouble keeping the temp below 29C. turned on exhaust fan but that removes all the humidity from 53 down to 41%.
although larger, they both look lacking something. maybe it was the heat, I'll keep exhaust on.
also first really big water today and I switched back to GH floragrow to see if I notice any significant difference.
led upped a bit to 60%
Bruce is at 4th node, I want to top but there's hardly and side shoots. I'll have to wait...
May 25 - transferred both to 5 gallons so they'll be settled in when I top. added worm castings and extra perlite to HP soil.
upped led to 75% 21"
May 26 - Bruce very droopy. Upped nutes to .4ml/16 oz and .8 miicro
May 27 - took all day but Bruce is looking way better. Going to top on Saturday
May 29 - looking good today. not closing the tent door has kept temp at 25C and humidy at 43.
increased nute solution a lot, 8ml/litre but only giving 6oz per plant (approx 1ml/6 oz). I need to keep to more strict feeding schedule. F W W F
led 75%
afternoon update - topped both to 3rd node of main stalk.
Bruce grew to 6th node starting her 7th
Banner to 5th starting 6th (16 days behind Bruce)
cut growth below 3rd node, left fans but removed the side shoots.
I kept the tops and used Remo rooting gel and 4.5 ph water in Rockwell cubes. I'm not too concerned if they make it or not. they look very unhappy 😭
May 29 - amazing, the clones bounced back, hopefully they root now (June 3 - I messed up, should have left them alone but I fiddled and now near dead)
June 3 - 2nd top for both. Bruce had 3 nodes, Banner 2. Cut both to 1st. Saturday probably next and final top for 8 mains.
June 5 - getting there. tent is getting hot again, 29C/41% even with humidifier.
Banner has grown a lot larger than Bruce even tho she's 16 days behind.
I've been using a lux phone app and measuring lux at approx 39000. roughly 78% on the dimmer switch. I think it's been better by doing this although it's generating heat.
I think it's time to increase watering and nutes. reminder to stay N F F N cycle!
June 6 - final top for Bruce to make her 8 mains. topping went 5 days till 2nd top and 3 days to 3rd top.
June 8 - final top on Banner. added 2.5 ml/l miicrobiomass for both. next feed will be week 8 Tues
June 12 - going well. bit of training on Bruce. I don't think I'll tie and train as much as my last grow. just enough to give the branches some extra room for scrog. we'll see.
Banner is twice Bruce's size.
upped nutes to 2ml/l each. still only giving 500 ml water every other day.
lowering led to around 35k from 40k lux for a bit.
June 13 - tied down Banner
June 15 - good growth, spread both out a bit more, cut all lower growth from Bruce (not pictured).
June 19 - another week already. i've been buying purified drinking water by the 5 gallons but I'm going to try just 6.5 ph'd tap water with declorinizer for my aquarium (seachem prime). I bet it's the same and saves me money.
week 8, am I "behind"? looks healthy but short and only at 2nd node new growth.
maybe up the watering/nutes. I did a bottom soak today to get that lower soil a bit wet (it's been bone dry this entire time).
bought a led Lux meter, I was using a phone app but since Im measuring daily I thought it be a good thing to have. I think the app was pretty good ballpark but will be more accurate, hopefully. currently around 35k lux.
Miicrobial Mass will be added this week, Tuesday.
June 24 - set scrog in place
June 26 - scrog set in place. I bottoms watered today for a final time and everything should be good to go.
temp seems fairly constant now at 25C and humidity at 55% even tho is boiling outside 40C+
wondering if there will be enough room inside for 2 plants....
June 27 - decided to transplant to 7 gallons before I no longer have the option. during transplant there were roots stuck to the bottom of the pot, the sides were fine however.
July 3 - started to weave thru scrog. noticing the space between nodes is very tight. currently at 34k lux.
also there is noticable yellowing starting from the ends inwards on Bruce. started 2 days ago and is increasing.
setup Inkbird humidity and temperature wifi monitors. these are great! Im just using them to view numbers and not adding a humidifier/AC ect.
July 5 - went to local hydro store for advice. said yellowing possible due to dropoff in soil pH, so raise ph to 7+ for 3 or so waterings.
slight tip burn from over nute but nothing substantial. some purple stems as well.
July 6 - added 4 ml/l miicro, next is Tues July 20th
July 10 - been watering 7 - 7.2 ph and switched back to GH grow nute this last week to stop the yellowing. I think it's helped, added pics to use as reference for next week.
when the yellowing stops I'd like to start defoliation for flip, hopefully later this week.
not overwatering and yellow fade are this week's focus.
July 15 - Bruce looks to be recovering from yellowing but now has brown spots. I added cal mag and lowered ph slightly but still in the 6.8 - 7.2 range
getting bigger and fairly uneven =/
July 17 - fast weeks, already at week 12.
yellowing has more or less passed but there was a few brown spots on Bruce that I think was cal deficiency (non absorption due to higher 7+ ph?). regardless Ive been dousing with cal mag, think that's stopped too. I have continued with GH floragrow/Rocket Fuel this past week not Remo.
they're both getting very bushy and I fear I'll run out of space if I don't flip very soon. almost max height on the light already.
focus this week on maintaining healthy leaves but will defoliate heavily before flip. semi lollipop is my aim.
July 20 - miicrobial mass added today. next is Aug 3rd. Defoliated 2 days ago and again today, probably last before flip.
- pretty droopy after defoliation and large watering (July 21 - bounced back next day!)
led @ 35k roughly 73%
July 24 - a lot longer than expected veg time, still trying to correct yellowing but regardless flipping mid week.
nute lockout? running a few fresh waters.
defoliated but still too bushy. tried to remove all lower nodes. next thinning 3 weekish from flip.
July 31 - 91 days veg, 1F. still haven't corrected issues but it's way longer than anticipated.
switched to 9am - 9pm
will keep GH grow for roughly 2 weeks and then to GH flora, maybe a mix of Remo bloom.
will be using Miicrobiasals ChitoSal later
(Aug 4 - I messed up, ChitoSal to be added 1 week prior to flip and then every 2 weeks. I added slight amount along with Miicro today).
lux at 36k but will raise over time.
Focus - no overwatering
- stay on N N F N N F water
- watch lux, keep green
- don't over fert! watch ppm
defoliation in 3 weeks
*outdoor clones showing pistils
Aug 5 - Banner started yellowing, raised lux to 45k.
both are getting very bushy, I should have stripped more to start.
Aug 7 - stretch! way bigger, bushier. should have cut more prior to flip.
raised led from 36k to 45k. less yellowing, was it low lux and not lockout/deficiency? will continue at 45k (edit: raised to 47k)
started microdose GH bloom, 3rd week I'll do 1/2 and 1/2.
focus: lux, watering N N F N N F...
Aug 14 - big stretch, started adding GH FloraBloom. Flowers forming on Bruce more than Banner even tho Banner is larger/taller.
Last big defoliation today, can't tell in pics very well.
focus: water schedule N N F N N...
- additional Bloom and slow/end Grow
- led Lux now at 47-50k, higher?
week 4F - coming along, flowers forming well. removed a few lower bud sites/leaves. still super bushy.
dropping GH grow for bloom and adding a bit of Remo Astroflower/Nature Candy.
Large color difference between the two plants but yellowing has been corrected.
grow!
Aug 25 - flowers forming nicely, no smell tho.
Aug 28 week 5F - looking good, buds starting to fill in and very slight frost on sugar leaves.
still no smell. why?
adding Chitosal this Tues
sticking to watering N N N F
Wish I had defoliated more, removing a couple fan leaves here and there.
Both are starting to turn darker green, I hope they don't turn like my last grow and keep a nice shade of green instead.
Sept 4 - 42F (day 133)
going well, tips slight burn. starting to frost. raised lux to 60k.
5 weeks to go? seems behind
- add Rock Hard in 2 weeks (updated)
- flush in 4 weeks?
Sept 6 - noticed a couple pistols browning on Bruce.
Sept 9 - added 1 gram Rock Hard and will do again in 2 weeks
also started Ton Of Bud to nute solution
Bruce a lot more brown pistols (pic)
* added dehumidifier on Inkbird monitor and keeping humidity below 50 (but increased overall temp up to 27C)
Sept 11 - overnight Bruce turned a lot of pistols brown. Banner hardly any. The temp has risen the past few days probably due to dehumidifier on cycle (27C).
both have brown tips but Bruce more so and starting to brown along edges. nute solution isn't overly high and still using fresh only every 3 water.
N N N F ...
Chitosal this Tues.
Led Lux is at 62k at the highest flower. mainly around 50k for the canopy.
Sept 15 Wednesday: starting to flush! trics maturing faster than I thought on Bruce. Banner pistols still white tho.
Sept 18 - Bruce looks like she's almost done but Banner isnt.
added 1 spoonful molasses today, I won't use too much as I think I overdid it with last grow and I believe that's what I'm smelling is molasses in the bud. sorta musky/sweet, gross.
Banner is twice the flower size of Bruce but both have very dense bud.
lux at 62k at the top, roughly 50k canopy
the nutrient values above are out. Chitosal only once per 2 weeks. Rock hard once weekly for 3 to 4 times (used 2 times so far). Reduced/dropped Remo. Carboblast added and starting flush a couple days back. will aim for only fresh water mid/end this week with the exception of Chito and Rock Hard till harvest.
Sept 20 - pictures to show Bruce's brown edges/tip and Banners yellowing fans. not too concerned this close to harvest.
A lot of amber trics on Bruce's sugar leaves but not many on bud. Banner still aways to go.
I'll have to cut Bruce soon, continuing to flush both.
Sept 25 - day 63F. Bruce is probably done and taking on "older" look (not as radiant/shiny).
Banner closing in. Both have been losing lower leaves (yellow) for a couple weeks. Stopped nutes too early? There is quite a bit of brown tips and edges tho.
Wait end of week before harvest, flushing fresh water with Rock Hard/Chitosal once.
Very little smell in air, quite strong when rubbing bud.
SOON...
Sept 27 - tric pics, not sure if it's any different from 2 days ago
Oct 1 - leaves are pretty brown/yellow now except the small young ones. flushed all week with mainly fresh water. trics on Bruce probably ready, Banner close. Harvest soon, dark period or not...
Oct 2 - 70F : really yellowed leaves, flushed for 6 days fresh water (slight molasses 2 days). trics on Bruce seem ok, Banner still catching up. harvest anytime, maybe Mon.
weather got quite cold out and the tent has dropped temp this week to 19C (from 25C). somewhat preferable imo.
lux has been at 65k (at very top) for most flower time, approx 78% on the dimmer.
Still a lot longer than anticipated but they made it all the way thru, 8 main tops each =)
plants look somewhat different from each other but both produced large colas. I topped 8 mains each easily. defoliated throughout grow without problems. the only issue was yellowing leaving before flip and then again near harvest. zero smell from both unless flowers are rubbed.
Oct 5 - 72 days flower, 98 days veg = 170 days (5.6 months) again a lot longer than originally intended. set back around week 9 with yellowing leaves (lockout?) until corrected which was another 3 or 4 weeks added.
flower went smoothly although I may have cut nutrients for flush too soon. again yellowing leaves for a number of weeks (hunger?).
flowers are hung to dry now, aiming for 6 days before curing. humiditys better controlled this time with the inkbird monitor set to my dehumidifier.
main colas are big and dense, lots of bud everywhere. I think extreme lollipop would have been better and I'll plan that for my next grow (no side shoots).
although trics were checked I feel I may have cut too early. Bruce was quite ahead of Banner but I felt I couldn't wait any longer. only after harvesting I can see the lower sites are quite young looking, lots of white pistils which differ from the tops.
Miicrobial Mass and Chitosal are awesome, the root ball was so thick and the top was just a dense matt which I could hardly cut thru with a shovel. grab some!
looking forward to updating with correct weight ect. after drying
thanks for reading!
Oct 10 - these are 4 tops I cut from my indoor grow. I didnt think these would survive. after topping I used Remo root gel and stuck them into Rockwell cubes. I placed them under a desktop lamp and they did pretty good the first couple weeks. soon after they took a turn and were nearly dead (low lighting? bad ph water?). I almost tossed them but i put them in soil and left them outside. here's the result.
During the height of July/Aug temps were high 40C and mid 30C night. very hot, no rain and very smokey from forest fires.
Now the temp outside has dropped to around 1C night and 12C daytime so I moved them inside today.
Although the trics seem ready now the pistils are mainly white. I do think they are ready but I'll give them a few days inside to see what happens.
super sticky, way more than my indoor grow.
(all details, height, ppm ect are incorrect and just carried over from my previous diary)
Oct 18 - one week indoors now. seem to still be fattening but idk if trics are maturing or staying the same. probably ready but I'll wait.
They were quite smelly outside but not anymore. I wonder if loss of smell is because of over ripening yet theres hardly any amber. the last ones harvested also had zero smell.
as mentioned before, data is incorrect as it's carried over from previous grow.
Oct 25 - another week, not sure if they ripened more but I think I'll cut Thurs.
they definitely look bigger. trics still look the same under microscope.
last week was mainly flush with a little bit of bloom nute. today I added a spoonful of molasses and tomorrow I'll just do fresh water.
probably do Wednesday in 24 hours dark cause bro science
Oct 28 - harvested 3 of 4. washed with lemon juice and baking soda to get rid of dirt and debris from being outdoors.
buds are huge and heavy. I didn't weigh and will try when dry.
I need to be careful not to overdry like I tend to do.
tents currently at 18C 52% humidity. let's see if I can get past 4 days.
Oct 28 - cut the last one. she doesn't have any brown pistols but trics looked near finished (no amber). main is huge.
I really just wanted my tent back for the next grow!
Nov 7 - all dried and curing. jar humidity at 55 - 60.
seems overdried (7 days at 19C 50% humidity) but quite nice when ground up.
the high is incredible, heady. love it!
Happy growing! I hope you get some good results! Take care and stay lit! I will drop by sometimes to check on your process! Say hello if you ever visit my page!
