Germination

Plant A (left side) started pushing through the medium first after 48 hours. Plant B germinated successfully at 96hrs but due to cold climate and moisture in the seed the seed got too cold and turned to mush. At 96hrs Plant A had reached 1.25" and had started to spread the first set of leaves. It is now approximately 2" tall and the first fan leaves are about 1/3" long. Growth is steady and effortless for this girl. So far the self watering set up, grow light, and medium have been treating plant A great. After 60hrs she became fully exposed. Plant B germinated as stated before and died, Plant C was planted 5 days into the germination week of Plant A. No pre-soak, just dry seeds dropped directly into the medium. Miracle Grow myth has so far been proven wrong (performance organics, not regular potting soil). In addition to the set up, I found a water bottle diffuser I have on a 6hr rotation (6 on and 6 off) that I found for $9USD at a grocery outlet. Humidity now steady at 31% on the gauge and about 65% Relative Humidity. Temps sit steady around 68-71°F. Shooting for 360g or 180g from each plant utilizing LST. We are seeing if organic miracle grow has enough nutes for an autoflower, with 3 months of nutrients as stated from the bag it should end up timing out perfectly for harvest time with no flushing needed as nutrients will already be used up.

I have been using LST in the form of a fan on medium speed to try and strengthen the main stalk of the plant as well as planter rotation to strengthen the main stalk for tie down LST. So far I've been impressed with the rate of growth and the overall experiment. For what it's worth, the growth wth is very very similar to a hydroponics growth. I'm sure as the experiment continues I'll notice some big differences. It does appear to have either a minor potassium deficiency or a little too much nitrogen. Will monitor and update as needed. The above signs may have been trying to indicate the main stalk was weakening from too much weight from vertical grow rate. This would ultimately lead to a fractured stalk. Is this what happened or is it a fungus or disease problem? Plant C sprouted within 48hrs and will be 6 days behind Plant A. End goal of harvest is still 360g from the two plants combined. Both plants are looking very happy regardless of the toxicity or deficiency. Strong strain nonetheless.

We are currently working on the recovery from the initial stem split on plant A. She's almost all the way recovered with only a slight crack still remaining. Hopefully that split and the overwatering won't disrupt or stunt the growth of this lady too much. For the sake of experimenting I pulled off the first set of fan leaves that were stunted and discolored in hopes the energy used by the plant will be directed more towards the new growth. Plant C is looking great and loving the increased Par values from our light as we are getting good vertical growth and the main stem is looking super healthy. As we get through to the end of the week we will start transitioning plant A for LST in the form of tie down. The fan is currently applying pretty good stress to the already week stalk of plant A, but she again is almost 100% closed back up. The whole purpose of the fan is to strengthen the stalk with very light stress. Plant C will see LST beginning in 2 weeks as she is 1 week behind Plant A. Many people ask me about the LL on the guage and I will remind everyone, I live in a high climate desert around the 49th parallel so it's cold and dry. When the tent is closed I usually see rh values near 40% where the normal RH (Relative Humidity) is around 10%. It's just dry here. That said the grow community here and the quality of bud is top shelf as it gets. Rh doesn't necessarily impact the end results. End goal is still 360g harvest out of this tent we will see if we get it.

Week 3 is upon us and man how plant A has grown. All things considered, this girl looks awesome. No on to more LST and watching. Plant C is a week behind Plant A and has shown an oddity with skipping the skip count and going 1, 5, 5 for leaf counts. Not sure what that means if anything. I've never seen it before.

Been a couple of weeks as I didn't see a need to update during preflower veg. Plus who doesn't like a little suspense? All in all the girls are looking great, they are super healthy and happy. There was some concern earlier in the process about the stem split and some overwatering but it appears this girl is one tough Phenotype. I HAVE NOT and WILL NOT add any nutrients on this grow as the Perfomance organics medium already has nutrients that are slow release and will last the duration of the experiment (up to 90 days).

This week we haven't really experience anything too crazy, plant C had a little underwatering issue she got thirsty started to look pretty weak the 1st day of week 6 (for her only) she had recovered by the end of day 1 before going into the dark cycle. As the week progresses we should see some more tricome production and some more development of the bud sites. I'm hoping the underwatering that happened won't stunt or hurt the end yield too bad, that was a bad moment of laziness... whoops. Overall I haven't had any problems yet with pests there's been a lot of gnats and spiders on the outside of the tent but nothing on the inside. For a cheap tent it's working awesome. It does have some light leakaround the zippers but this isn't a problem for me as I'm growing in a darker area already. But if this were in a bright room all the time this tent would be a bad choice. Now as week 7 progresses we'll start seeing more rapid Bud development and see some increased tricome production. To think this girl (plant A) is just barely over halfway done is crazy. I have ended up removing the entire bottom 1/3 of the plant in the form of defoliation of the yellowed and dying leaves. People say don't defoliate Autos for shock reasons I hope it doesn't really matter.

Week 7 went smooth with little to note. Been experimenting with watering so this week should show some signs of something happening. I have started filling the basin (0.75liters) and watering from the top with another 0.75 liters so 1.5liters or just about 1/3 gallon of water. This will hopefully sink nutrients not used in veg from the top layers of medium to the bottom. We shall see.

So this week we will focus on health of the ladies. Plant A has yellowed significantly over the last 2 weeks, some say it's genetics while others say it's nutrient deficiencies. Because of this I have altered the water regimen slightly with halfof the watering coming from the top and the other half being subirrigation method. The thought is to deliver nutrients to the basin from water trickling through the medium and ending in the basin while the medium is also freeing up nutrients for the roots closer to the top. We will see if this helps. Tricomes are all clear and only a few are milky/cloudy we have a few weeks left for Plant A, Plant C is only clear Tricomes. I feel I neglect the health and ultimately the relevance of Plant C. She is a beautiful Pheno that has withstood pests and overwatering, underwatering, and getting put in a back corner. She actually has the best bouquet as of now and the stacking of the buds is so much tighter than Plant A. Overall both will be great flower, but Plant C will be the better of the two in my opinion if flavor matches scent. --- UPDATE --- DAY 3 OF WEEK 9... We had a problem with Temps, it has reached 110°f outside and inside Temps spiked to 95°f in the tent. We had to move the tent inside. In the process I accidentally bent a main stem and I now have it propped against another main stem. Will be monitoring closely. Temps inside now are back to 78°f and max of 83°f. --UPDATE-- DAY 5 OF WEEK 9... So after moving the plants and relocating to a new location all together the girls are experiencing better Temps and all around conditions. The main stalk of Plant A is in need of a splint. 2 stalks have now bent but are splinted upright. She is close to harvest and getting heavy, and I caught the stalk bends fast enough that they should continue to grow. Plant C got a decent cleanup of the canopy however she's showing signs of TMV not sure if this is exactly what has happened but it is plausible.

Day 1 has no updates, Temps are optimal now and the girls are thriving in late flower. Lights remain 100% power and I expect the buds to continue to develop and stack on some weight. For a first grow I feel this has been a successful experiment and experience. Day 3 of week 10 Plant A is cut and drying, I chose to cut it because the increase in unexpectedheat almost sent it back into veg. The tricomes were cloudy mainly so I figured it would be best to chop it and not risk it turning hermie. Had really dense buds will update the dried weight.

Day 1 of week 11 Plant A has been chopped for about 6 days now and has been dried, now it's curing and is smelling amazing. Plant A was stunted and seemed to have gone back into veg so I decided it would be best to harvest. That said the buds were not big at all nor were they 100% ready but the end result is still great, even though it hasn't cured I wanted to see how it smoked as is. Definitely felt it we will say that. Plant C is in week 10 and after doing the math it is actually 12 days behind Plant A. So I'm expecting purple to start showing up this week. Trichomes are still mainly clear but almost half are now cloudy. So we are getting there. Pests day who knows.... It appears during the move when I had to have the plants exposed in transit that we picked up some mites... I've used organic sprays to try and scent out the mites and haven't had much luck, next step is neem oil I just hate that I will have to try and figure out pests this late into flower... will keep updates coming. Tent status... I have flipped the light to a 12/12 to send the photoperiod into flower, with the auto being this late into flower I'm not concerned about the change within 2 weeks Plant C will be chopped and drying. That'll be perfect to pull the photo into the center and tie down one last time to try and fill the tent. I have also adjusted the light down to about 14 inches and checked the par values, most of plant C is under 800 par and the photo is at about 550 par now the goal is to try and keep the photoperiod short and tighter packed internodal spacing. She has potential to yield massive amounts so trying to keep her happy is main priority over Plant C. It's a balancing act nonetheless. Photoperiod Plant... The photoperiod will not have a grow diary but I will update my network as she is harvested. What I know... The photoperiod is an Indica plant from a feminized seed, I am growing as an experiment prior to starting my great white Shark photoperiod. I know the plant has been through insane stress and will likely be fine because of how much veg time she's had to recover. I have done the following; LST, topping (topped 8 different nodes), defoliation, and will be utilizing a Scrog net to try to fill the tent.

Happy Harvest Day!

Had great resilience but Ultimately the plants went through more stress than they should have and were stunted by my lack of knowledge. The Aroma coming from the buds is that of NOS Energy drinks and a bit of pine. It tastes just as it smells after a week of drying and 5 days of curing (need at least a month) flavor will continue to develop. I will be growing again for sure. Maybe Photoperiods next time. Another week in the books and the first plant has cured a bit more and man, the smell is so amazing, still burns a bit on the harsher side of things but as the bud continues to cure that will smooth out. 1 month cure update... Critical Purple is a hell of a bud to enjoy. I find myself getting the couch lock and a sense of mind calm. I suffer from several conditions a few being mental health related and this bud truly helps me deal with life. Beyond impressed with the genetics. Bud cured nicely and again it is one to thoroughly enjoy.

Growers choice has some awesome genetics in the Critical Purple Auto. Unfortunately my lack of experience and cold Temps led to one seed not germinating,, and my lack of knowledge I feel hurt the end yield (however not by much). The two phenotypes I had displayed some interesting genetics with one showing dominant ruderallis characteristics, but the plants were so strong and did amazing in the abusive climates. I will be growing from growers choice again 100% for sure. I've had a few independent taste testers for the harvest vs store bought critical purple and most have preferred my homegrown, may not be the biggest or the best overall quality, but it's terpene profile and the medicinal benefits are to die for. I'd rate myself at a 7/10 for this grow. So after 3 weeks of curing the final profile has set in I feel, a nice floral citrus cream aroma is present, and the flavor is more of berries and cream. The effects kick in 5 min after use and last approximately an hour to an hour and a half.

@DoDrugs420, it was easy to manage and grow just wish the Temps wouldn't have gotten so high here it really did some damage and stressed them out. Pretty much made an auto go back to veg. Lol all is good nonetheless and I'm thankful for all the love on this grow!

Bonitas flores. Te recomiendo subir la humedad y bajar la temperatura del sustrato.😉 En floración no es recomendable pulverizar las flores, los nutrientes también lo absorven por las hojas.

@jkeats, yeah for sure. So I would say it ultimately came down to my medium. They did really well in an organic amended medium and were left alone after training. I made sure to keep the light schedule the same as a photo period and then checked the strains preferred climate and replicated it to the best of my ability. In early veg I had the light about 22inches at 85% shooting for 560 PAR autos tend to preflower week 4 or 5 and then you'll have to control that stretch by cranking up the intensity or dropping the light down. It was important for these ladies to get adequate dark period too. Be sure to check the strains preferred flowering environment. Outside all of this, I kept the medium at 5.6ph and watered in at 7.0 figured the balance would be 6 4 or so and I did stunt growth because of it. So if you have an acidic medium water in at a ph around 6.4 and that will do her. Outside of that it's just a matter of trying to truly replicate nature my guy. Cheers!
