Grow Questions

I'm starting to think about training her, because I'm very limited in height. My goal is more than 40g dry weight in the shortest possible time. (<14 weeks) The plant before I had fimed, no idea how exactly to proceed this time, is moving to 12-12 soon a good option?

Yeah if you wanna keep her low I would advise only vegging for around 3-4 weeks and then switching the lights early this will stung the plant into only growing so high :) Hope this helkps bro I would not fim her yet wait until she gets a few more nodes on her the stress this early on could stop her growing :)

Should I remove the two large leaves so that the rest gets more light? Have read that Kush tolerates it.

What I usually do at this early stage is . Leave those big leaves for now . Tie the top node and fann leaves all together in a loose bunch using a tie. This will allow light to the lower nodes without removing leaves . Only do this for around 6 hours a day and then take the tie off the top . Untill the lower nodes finally catch up. I hope this makes sense. If not check my diary I have a picture of this technique. WEEK 4 pic 5. On my gorilla cookies diary. And you will see what I mean . πŸ‘πŸŒ±

I have seen that many of you separate the new shoots from each other. I am now trying to do the same (see photo). Am I doing it right?

I like to tie further out on the branch. There is more room to make the bend so there is less chance of breaking it off. When tying, be gentile. It is all by feel and you just have to learn how much is too much. But if think it's getting tight. Stop, tie the plant there. Then come back in a day or two and do more if you want. When training I like to have tape close at hand. If you break a branch be very careful to not break it all the way. If it is still connected wrap the break tightly with tape to seal the wound and hold everything together. If the branch survives (it is a pretty good chance) you can remove the tape in about two weeks.

Impatient as I am as a beginner, I would like to know how long it will take until harvest, my own estimate is 5 weeks. What do you think rather longer or shorter. Is day 27 with 12/12 lighting.

Yes you are close could be 5-6 weeks more. Strain has a 9-10 week flower time.

I know that there is a difference of opinion when it comes to defoliating. I have removed about a dozen in the last week. I think it's still pretty bushy, but I don't want to overdo it. Finger away or better yet thinning out a little more ?

Just leave it, she needs every leaf she has to make the energy she needs to grow her biggest and best flowers. If she did not need those leaves, she would not have grown them in the first place! Some light, well considered lollipopping wouldn't harm though and stop the plant wasting itself growing shitty little inner buds. Plants can not channel/send energy anywhere, all energy is used equally wherever growth is occurring. Plants channelling energy to bud sites is one of the most misunderstood principles in plant biology, it can not and does not occur. To be able to channel energy to a specific site would indicate the plant has a brain and is able to make decisions about energy distribution. Which it clearly can't. Removing leaves to channel energy into bud growth is the next biggest misunderstood principle. This energy has to come from somewhere, it does not magically appear from thin air. All energy is made in the leaves. Removing leaves means there is less energy being made. So even if a plant could channel energy, with less leaves, there would be less energy to channel anyhow, again resulting in less growth due to less leaves and less energy being produced. So, it would be a self defeating outcome, even if plants could channel energy, which they can not. Just remember - Maximum amount of healthy green leaves = maximum energy production = maximum growth. It is that simple. Only yellow leaves should be removed, for by the time they are yellow, they have served their purpose. Hope this helps,......... Organoman. (and outspoken anti defoliation advocate!)
