Dropped in water for 2 days (4/16), then into paper towels enclosed in 2 plates on a heat plate at 85F. Had to put in solo cups instead of final home (5 gal fabric pot) but didn't have space for them just yet.
Both seeds are germinated and are coming along, got moved into tents and will get put into fabric pots beginning of next week. PL2 does not have good color, could be from Happy Frog soil being hot, not sure but also not too concerned right now.
Got both of the seedlings moved into 5 gal fabric pots with Happy Frog and in bottom 1/3 Happy Frog mixed with Nature's Living Autoflower Soil.
5/4 update: both ladies are cruising right along. PL2 is starting to change a nicer shade of green from her light and lime seedling color so hopefully that keeps up. Hopefully going to start LST next week but we shall see!
5/6 update: Ladies are still coming along...while I thought PL2 was starting to change to a nicer color, I think that may have been wishful thinking. I believe the soil was a bit hot for her, but she is still showing good growth and keeping up with PL1 so for now, I'm gonna let it ride.
Started LST and leaf tucking at the beginning of the week and still just doing everything I can to make sure these ladies have a good veg period. PL2 still has the light coloration which I'm still assuming is from soil being hot but growth is still coming along just fine, we shall see!
5/13 update: did LST on 5/12, pl1 is growing very very well and responding great to being tied down. pl2 is taking being tied down well, but not having the same recovery as pl1, it still has light growth so I figure there is a correlation. I am currently monitoring this.
Ladies are still coming along nicely. PL1 is flourishing and I have high hopes for. PL2 still has the icky look going on, I'm in too deep with her to want to cull her so I'm just riding it out. Some of the newer growth on PL2 is coming in with a nicer color but since this is the only plant out of 10 that has had any issues (with all plants being grown with exact same soil, same tent and conditions, and very similar watering), I'm just going with PL2 being a runt or just a not good plant. I plan on keep on keeping on for now, currently debating whether to top dress with some NFTG One Shot or another dry amendment when ladies go into flower or if I will look into just using compost teas with some extras (recharge and mammoth p), we shall see!
5/20 update: Ladies keep growing, PL1 still growing wonderfully, both plants have started preflowering this week and I've continued to tie down and leaf tuck as soon as needed.
I have continued to tie down both plants with some pretty aggressive LST. I have begun feeding with 2 tsp of Roots Organic Uprising Bloom per 5 gal pot for both ladies. I also added some of the Roots Organic CalMag supplement after getting some spots on a few leaves that looked like magnesium deficiency...if it doesn't get better by this time next week I will have to reevaluate. I haven't given up hope on PL2 yet and just accepted that she probably will not produce much, I may try experimenting with her, who knows at this point!
5/31 Update: Top dressed each of the ladies with some Roots Organic Uprising calmag supplement and 2 tsp of Roots Organic Uprising Bloom. PL1 was starting to get some little rust spots again that looked like magnesium deficiency so it fixed the problem last time. My two Strawberry Pie auto's haven't shown the same magnesium deficiencies as both of these Purple Lemonades but it hasn't appeared to damage either of the plants much. PL2 is going to be tiny, but her calyxes are starting to turn a little purple, I'm getting a macro lens delivered in the next couple days so I'll have some nicer bud shots going forward. PL1 is growing strong, I am hoping she starts to stretch a bit else I'll have a short plant (hopefully chunky though)....Probably was too aggressive when flower started with LST but I'm not worried about it right yet, as for now I have a nice even canopy!
6/3 Update: nothing new with PL2, she's putting on a little weight for the few colas she has. Seems healthy and fine, nice purple buds, has a faint lemon smell, I reckon she'll have nice and beautiful buds, just not many of them. PL1 started showing some magnesium deficiencies I believe, I plan to give her some Epsom salts with her first watering next week and hoping for improvement. PL1 is starting to stack up a little bit and has some very faint purple showing (I think?)...we'll see, another week down!
6/10 update: both ladies got their first compost tea, a little late in the cycle but better late than never! PL1 started showing signs of calmag deficiency I believe last week so both plants got some epsom salts in their feed this week. It seems like this stopped the spotting on PL1 and PL2 but I will continue to monitor going forward. I'm thinking of introducing coconut water (and possibly aloe) with every other feeding going forward since I am using RO water and LED lighting and calmag deficiencies hit me quite often provided I'm right in assuming I'm just experiencing a deficiency and not some kind of lockout (hopeful no lockout since feeding living soil with all organic amendments) but we shall see! PL2 is starting to really thicken up and the few buds she has, should be wonderful! PL1 is beginning to thicken up as well and while it won't be a huge yielder, it looks to be a decent little lady!
6/16 update: not sure what to say about this run of this strain...Let PL1 get a bit calcium deficient which locked out phosphorus a little (I think that is what may have happened at least) and PL2 just never really got going. Going to finish both of these out and take the blame for PL1 and consider trying this one again later on if I ever have tent space...I'm going to continue taking care of these ladies and expecting to chop at the end of next week.
6/24 update: chopped them both today. I had issues with this strain, I was very hopeful for a while with 2 but neither plant will yield much, I did not weight wet but will update this diary in a few weeks after dry and at least 2 week cure before I vape flower...depending on yield I will probably press some rosin after humidity has stabilized at 62% RH...who knows at this point. I definitely made some mistakes with this grow and was learning a lot about different ways of growing and have started to figure out how I will proceed going forward. I doubt I will run the other few seeds I have of this strain only because I have too many other seeds I would rather run, but ya never know...might be a fun solo cup or pringle can grow.
Harvest went alright, very easy to trim what little buds I had. Smell and taste are very nice, bag appeal is also pretty nice. A lot of the shortcomings from this grow were from my inconsistencies and also switching to growing with an organic approach where I did not make changes quick enough. Buds were a bit light and airy but that was fixed in future grows, along with most of my other shortcomings! Looking forward to the future, happy enough with this grow!
