Germination

For germination i placed seeds in distilled water for 16-18 hours. then i poured the water/seeds on a folded up piece of paper towel and drained off the excess water. I then folded up the paper towel and placed it in a ziplock baggie but NOT sealed. i placed the baggie on a plate on top of a t5 halogen light for 24 hrs. with this method i did not need to wet the paper towel aside from the initial dampening. I waited until the tap root was at least 1/2" to 3/4" and then planted.

I used 3 gallon pots with Gaia Green power bloom 3 tbsp/gal in the bottom gallon then a mix of 50/50 Gaia Green all purpose and power bloom in the top 2 gallons (3 tbsp 444 + 3 tbsp 284). I dug out a good sized hole in the middle and added Promix hp with a ratio of 3 tbsp/ gal of Gaia Green 444 and pre moistened the area. I started the Haze berry about a week behind the Emperor J. the light distance for the Spider farmer light was about 24 inches at 30%. the plant got leggy so i bumped it up to 50% after 4-5 days. The Haze Berry was started under T5 Flourscent lamp with full spectrum bulbs (5000k) at about 2" distance from plant, samr light schedule 18/6.

I have had no problems this week. Everything seems to be going as planned. Upped the water amount to about .225 l per day. Just watering about a 3-4" radius around the plant in order to not activate the nutrients around the edges yet.

Everything seems ok at this point. I am just watering when pots feel dry. I am still using distilled water as I am waiting for some organic ph down in the mail. My well water has a ph of 7.8 so I have been reluctant to use it but It has 220ppm so i think the plants are missing out on some nice minerals. Emperor j is getting 500ml of water every couple days and the Haze Berry is getting around 250ml as she is a week behind EJ. Still have not added any nutes besides the ones i mixed in initially. I am thinking another week or two before top dressing her for flowering stage (unless she tells me otherwise :))

This has been a good week for growth. I have been watering emperor j about every two days with 500ml-750ml of well water (ph around 7.8 and ppm of 244). I have read numerous posts about using ProMax HP as a medium and how it buffers the ph level. So far no problems. I have been maintaining LST on the girls daily making sure that all the bud sites have access to light. On may 10th i added a tablespoon or so of worm castings to the top of the soil and a light water. I started a compost tea brew and set to oxygenate for 24hrs. Tonight, May 11th, I gave the girls their first compost tea. I will list the ingredients for my tea below: 1/2 Gallon of well water ph to 6.5 with lemon juice 3 tbsp of worm castings 1/2 tbsp Gaia Green Kelp meal 1/2 tbsp Gaia Green insect frass 1/2 tbsp seaweed meal 1/2 tbsp Gaia Green mineralized phosphate (bat guano)

Week 5 for Emperor J and week 4 for Haze berry but guess what? it looks like the Haze berry is winning the race to flower :) Since its my first grow i can only guess that its starting to flower or pre-flower, im not sure which? Both of the Ladies are looking great, no issues this week. I gave Emperor j 1 1/2 L of water tonight and Haze berry 1 L. I am not sure if it should be more at this point but I only water when the pot gets light which is about every two days. They seem to be liking it. I still have not fed the plants since planting them besides the one compost tea on may 11th that was geared for veg. Gaia Green suggests you top dress every 4 weeks but I might hold off for one more week because the strain should be finished in 10 weeks and if I fed at week 6 there should be no nutes left in the soil by the time she finishes up. Which I think is what you want, from what I have read. If I am totally off base please leave a comment. I have been adjusting the LST every day and it is working like magic. There are 10-12 major bud sites on each plant and they are almost all at the same height. I moved the light up a few inches last week because she was very short and bushy. What I learned from vegetable gardening is that if the plant isnt getting enough light it will stretch to get it. It did work, the plants grew about 3"-4" taller this week. I removed about 5-10 leaves on the plants over the course of the week. Most of them were from the bottom of the plant under the canopy where there was no light anyway. Hopefully this will add some ventilation for the plant. Until next week my fellow growers.

It was an exciting week with the buds starting to pick up on the Haze Berry. I am hoping that because Emperor J is taking so long to flower she going to be a monster (fingers crossed) I gave the ladies their first top dressing of Gaia Green power bloom (just shy of 3 tbsp) on day 40 for Emp. J and day 33 for Haze Berry. The next day I added 3 tbsp of worm castings as a top dressing for both. I was conflicted on whether or not to do a 50/50 of the all purpose and the bloom because some people on here claim that the extra nitrogen has negatively effected bud development. I then caved and added some worm castings as the leaves looked a shade lighter than usual. I have been having trouble watering lately. It seems that every time I try to let the plants dry out and give them about 1 1/2 liters their leaves droop, which I assume causes them stress. So I wait until just about dry and add a Litre, 500ml to the top and 500ml to the bottom. I noticed when I add the water to the bottom it instantly gets sucked up. At least this way I am sure the roots on the bottom are getting water. The downside, because i am feeding by topdressing the only way the nutrients get fed to the plant is when water carries it to the roots when watering from the top. We will see how it works out. Its funny because I watch videos of people watering their plants and they just drench the pot until water runs out, I feel that would kill the ladies :(. I cant wait to see what this week brings. Happy growing!! I also take any advice or growing tips you guys/gals want to share.

To me it looks like damage caused by excess nutrient salts in the soil/substrate. If you have not been watering to run off, this is most probable, especially combined with well water, which generally is a bit salty. Unfortunately, by the time the salts build up to cause damage, the problem in the soil is well advanced. This is why watering to run off is so important, as it flushes the soil and prevents the salts from building up. Giving lots of water now can cause more problems, as it can cause even more salts in your soil to be released and do even more damage. Drenching your soil until water runs out of the bottom of the pot is actually the correct way to water. Purple leaf stems are not a really big problem and can be ignored. At this stage I would give just plain water for a week or so, after removing as much of the fertilizer that is sitting on the top of the soil first. This way your plant will use up the trapped nutrient salts that are in the soil already. I would also be switching to a soluble fertilizer/nutrient, this way you can control what your plant gets, rather than feeding each and every time you water as occurs with the top dressing type of fertilizer you are now using. Worm castings are excellent and can not do any damage or harm, if they are pure and unadulterated. After this week-10 days has passed, I would resume with the fertilizer, but probably at half strength and as long as it does not cause further damage, continue at this strength until harvest. The problem with the top dressing type of fertilizer is that it feeds your plant each and every time you water. Also, after these 7-10 have passed, giving 2-3 litres of plain water would be about right. Ideally, you should aim for a water/water/feed/water/water/feed schedule, so that you are feeding every 7-10 days, with 2 irrigations of plain water between each feeding. This will be plenty enough food and the 2 irrigations with plain water will help keep your soil healthy and prevent any nutrient salts from building up. When you do water, water until water comes out the bottom of the pot, this is the only way to prevent salts from building up, otherwise, without run off, all the dissolved nutrient salts stay in the soil and build up to toxic levels. Hope this helps,............ Organoman.

Hi Gromies! This week got a little interesting for a change. I started to see some problems with one of the girls (Haze Berry). There was some up-curling of some leaves, some yellowing of some leaves in the middle of the plant, some brown spots on the fading leaves and some purple stems. Of course when I started reading about some of these issues it seemed to be a combination of a lot of them😒. So i asked our wonderful veterans of ganja growers and I got the answers I needed to put me back on the right track. I would like to give a shout out to ORGANOMAN and homerj for taking their time to answer my questions about my ladies problems, thanks Gromies! So what I learned from this whole experience is that I am WATERING MY PLANTS WRONG!! So if your new to growing as I am I think you will find this info very important. So I was giving my girls what I thought was a generous amount of water (1 1/2 Liters every couple days). After reading what Organoman and homerj had to say I decided to check my plants with a moisture meter and I was quite shocked. The top inch or so was dry, the next 3 inches was moist and the bottom 8-9 inches of the pot was bone dry! My watering was only reaching the roots 5-6 inches deep....not good. I checked the rest of my plants and they were all the same. So as an added precaution I added a half teaspoon of CalMag to a gallon of water and changed the PH to 6.3 (down from 6.5) and watered my plants with that. I gave them each 3 liters this time and the pots were super heavy. The leaves on emperor got droopy for the rest of the day but the Haze berry took it like a champ. This morning when I got up the ladies were looking sooo good and it looked like they had some nice growth. I will see how long this watering lasts, it should be at least 3-4 days before I have to water again. I cant believe there is still no flowering on the emperor j!!(still just some pistils here and there). If it doesnt flower soon it might be too big for my tent once it starts to stretch. Has anyone had this problem?? The Hazeberry is starting to show some trichomes which is nice to see and the buds are looking good I think. Thanks for joining in on my maiden voyage!

Happy Tuesday Growers 😎 Not a lot to talk about this week. I dont think the yellowing on my Haze Berry has gotten worse with the extra water and cal-mag added. I gave the ladies a flowering tea this week, they seemed to like it. Tea recipe: 1 gallon well water (or city water de-chlorinated) 1 tsp back strap molasses 1 tsp kelp meal 1 tsp insect frass 1 tsp bat Guano 1/3 cup worm castings Miss Hazy is fattening up quite nicely as far as I can tell 💪 Then there was The Emperor aka the weed plant that wont grow weed :) I am going to keep at it but because of its size I may have to put her outdoors to do whatever she has in mind. According to Oasis genetics she is supposed to be done in as little as 8 weeks to 10 weeks. I cant see that even coming remotely close. I ma thinking if it does flower it could be 13-14 weeks. I hope shes worth all the fuss. Its been super humid here with crazy temps over 40 deg Celsius. Had to add a dehumidifier to keep things stable. Until next week, peace.

Well another week in and things are going reasonably well. I had to make some changes with Emperor J. After reviewing all the diaries with late flowering autos and checking the seed bank site for reviews I decided to start giving her a 12/12 light schedule. She has been on it for 4 days so far. Hopefully in next weeks diary I will be able to share some good news.... hang tight. Emperor J put on 6 inches of growth this week, holy cow!! I gave both my ladies another bloom tea tonight. Maybe that will kick her in the ass. I will give her a top dressing later this week so if she does go into flower she will have what she needs. As for the Haze Berry, she is doing just fine. Its hard to tell if she is filling out properly as I have no reference. She is smelling very nice. I look forward to that amazing aroma every day when I get home from work 😍 I am not sure how much longer she has according to the seed bank its a 8-9 week ( I am on week 8 with her). I am not seeing many brown hairs at this point and the trichomes are mostly clear with some cloudy. No amber. Maybe 1-2 more weeks? she is due for a top dressing this week but I think its too close to harvest to be feeding her so I will let the nutes run out at this point. If she goes an extra week I will give her another tea. Cheers and thanks for stopping by 👊

Hey Fellow growers, welcome to week 10 (for Emperor J) and week 9 (for Haze Berry). I have mixed feelings this week about miss Emperor J auto. I am super happy she is finally flowering. I am sad because she's not an autoflower and I have to keep the indoor grow going another 5 weeks or so :(. I top dressed Emperor J with 1 tbsp Gaia Green 444 and 2 tbsp of the Gaia Green Power Bloom on day 69. I also watered once with 1 tsp/gal of Cal Mag. I have been keeping her in another room during the 12 hour darkness but the temps are not ideal. once I harvest the Haze Berry I will keep her right in the tent with a 12/12 light cycle until harvest. She has been sucking back the water this week needing 1.5 L every day. Haze Berry is still just getting ph'ed water at 6.3. I did not top dress her as she is so close to harvest. I added some pics of a close up of the trichomes this week. I am not 100% sure what is the optimal time to harvest but what I have read on other growers diaries is that most prefer to have mostly cloudy trichomes with 10-20% amber. I have been seeing 60-70% cloudy the rest clear with only the odd amber trichome. The pistils are approx. 50% brown now. I would suspect that she is going to be harvested this week.....yay! Stay tuned!

This was a rather nice and easy grow and I learned a lot from this lady. The buds look nice and are rather large I think. I harvested her when I seen the trichomes were mostly cloudy with 5-10% amber and 80% brown hairs. I have her drying now at 55% RH and 21 deg Celsius inside a box with a gentle flow of air. I will add some more comments once shes all dried up and I have a taste. Thanks to all who commented on my grow and to everyone who offered some well needed advice and helped me out. More to come!

Well, the Tramp is on her on her own now and has all the tent (she needs it). Still watering 1.5L every day and she is taken it all. I did a compost tea to help break down the top dressing that I gave her a week ago and give her a boost at the start of her flowering. She grew another 9 inches this week and I had to do some LST to get her away from the light a bit and open up some of the bud sites in the middle of the plant. See you next update!

Well week 12 has come and gone and it has been a pretty quiet week. The Tramp has finally stopped growing vertically and has settled on 42" tall which is at the max of my tent.. I had 2-3 of the bottom fan leaves turn a bit pale green and fall off. Im not sure if it was from lack of nitrogen during her stretch or jot getting any light. Either way I gave her three tbsp or worm castings and a tbsp of bloom. The buds are forming quite nicely and she seems quite content. I have been defoliating a bit in the center along with some LST to let the light get to all the major bud sites. Cant wait to see what next week brings. See you then. Cheers!

I seems that things didn't go so well this week. I don't think the buds got as big as they could have this week and I got 3-4 more fan leaves that turned from green to light green to yellow and to brown and were easily pulled off. I first thought it might have been phosphorus def. because the leaves would not pull off easily and the stems were purple which are signs of phosphorus def. Now I think it might be nitrogen def because the pale leaves seem to be falling off easier and the plant looks overall paler than usual. Plus I haven't given her much nitrogen since week 6. She is only in a three gallon pot too because I thought she was an auto so her roots might not be large enough to take in the nutrients she needs. I gave her three table spoons of bloom 2-8-4 on Saturday and then I decided it might be a nitrogen problem so I gave her a tablespoon of 4-4-4 and a nice compost tea for a boost. I am going to ask everyone what their thoughts might be and if I should bother trying too hard to green her up at this stage. Hope next week is better. Cheers

For the past four weeks the lower fan leaves on my plant have been getting pale green then yellow/brown. the stems have turned purple and I have noticed the last week or so the tips of the leaves have been slowly turning brown. Should i worry at this stage of growth?

Hi there, Lower leaves turning into yellow ia completely normal at this stage. As long as I can keep substrate pH in proper range and proper feed, I will not worry a bit about those symptoms and discoloration. All I would do is making her as comfortable as I can until harvest and focus on buds for pests, mold or rot.Good luck and Happy growing... ✌️

It was a chill week for me and the tramp :) She got water every day and her 12hrs of light. I havent noticed a big change in the size or smell of the buds. I guess I was hoping for her to fill out more at this stage. Maybe next week. She has noticeably more brown pistils this week but still mostly clear trichomes with no amber. My guess would be another week or two. The smell that is coming off her is real lemony/citrus which is rather nice. It would be a bonus if it tasted like that as well. Cheers to all my fellow growers, see you next week.

Its been a chill week, the anticipation is killing me lol. Its been water as usual. shes drinking a bit less now but not much less. She has a few more brown pistils than she had last week. One thing of note...I checked her one day this week and all the buds were bent over when i peeked in on her. I can only assume that the resin is building up causing the buds to be too heavy for the stems. I tied a string around the base of the stems to keep them all upright and its been working well. There are still just a few amber trichomes so I think she has another week to go. Until next week..keep your stick on the ice brothers and sisters👍👍

Ho Hum, another week :) Not much to report this week besides more leaves are turning yellow and she is drinking less water as she was last week. Still just a few amber trichomes and some clear with approx 50-60% cloudy. I will wait until I have about 10% amber and 70-80% cloudy before the chop this time. The buds are really starting to get dense, cant really squeeze them much at all. Smell is still very citrus/lemony. Quite delightful😍 Hopefully this is the week, stay tuned.

This plant was supposed to be an auto but ended up being a photo so I kept on with it just the same. It has been a real easy strain to grow and gave me zero issues. Being my first time growing it was really forgiving to all my noobish mistakes. The plant was dried in 7 days. I think one day too much actually. when I bottled it up the humidity was 50% so I added a bovida pack to the jars to bring up the humidity to 62% I harvested 93 grams of nice buds and 27 grams of smaller buds and a small bit of trim. All in all I think it was a good haul :) I havent tried any yet but the night is young 💪. I will try to remember to add a comment once I've tried it. Thank all of you who have supported me and followed along for this grow. I hope to repay all the kindness that you have shared.
