Welcome back to yet another grow. On the menu today we have some monster mash from exotic seeds, I'm quite curious about this strain, and interested to see what happens with them. Soaked the seeds in a jar of water in the dark at 75 degrees for 20 hours, then planted in 3 gal smart pots filled with promix HP. I sprayed with water every day, they sprouted 2 days after being planted. I installed a spider farmer sp2000 for this grow, and I have been playing around with the height and power to try and get the best light, and temperature, I've got her at 27 inches above plants and running 25% power.....its a very bright light in a 3x3, which is awesome. I'm giving small amounts of ph'd water as needed in a small radius around the seedlings, as they grow I will be expanding the watering radius and amount until they are ready for the normal runoff waterings and feedings. I'll start a weak nutrient solution around day 11 or so, depending on how she looks. Good starting week, seedlings are a tiny bit behind for a week old due to the fact that my temps were around 68 for a part of the week, but they are growing steadily now. Humidity is at 65%, I'll drop it to 60 once they get a few sets of nice leaves on them. Well thats it for now, until next week....Puff,Puff,Pass
Welcome to week 2! The girls are doing nicely, gave them a light feeding on day 11, still only using about 8 oz of water in a small circle around the stems. It will be another week or so until I can get into the normal watering cycle/amount. The one girl is a day or so behind due to a small issue during germination, but nothing to be concerned about, running my light at 25% power, I tried going a bit higher, but I started to see some minor leaf twist on the one plant, so 25% is all they are getting for another week, then I'll try going a little higher and see how they react. Its going to be a little trial and error since this is my first grow using the sf2000, but after this grow it will be all dialed in. I will continue with light feedings every other watering, with cal mag being added once pistils start showing, probably around the 4-5 week mark. Well until next week, smoke em if you got em. Peace.
Welcome to week 3! Seeing some good growth all week, especially the last day, looks like the girls are hitting the 3 week growth spurt. I'm thinking they will be ready to start LST by the end of this week....timing is everything with autos and not knowing if you get 3 weeks of veg or 5 make a big difference on when I train, ideally I like to do the initial training by the end of 4 weeks, and then my final training right at the beginning of flower, or a few days in. I see no signs of pistils yet, so that's good, gave em another light (.25tsp/gal) feeding, still not fully saturating the pot, almost time to go to my full watering schedule as they are just about big enough. I've got my light running at 35%, I noticed a very slight curl on a few leaves of the one plant once I went up from 30% but she's looking better now, I'm trying to provide the maximum light intensity that the plants can handle, so far its working nicely, it will be interesting to see if I can go full power in this tent. Well that's about it for this week, next week should be more interesting once I get into the LST. Catch you next week. Peace.
Welcome to week 4! Upped the amount of nute to .5 tsp per gallon for the last feeding, I'll do one more at that strength, then full power after that. Started the first round of LST on day 24, also upped the power on my light to 40%, they are looking good, just waiting for secondary branches to grow out so I can tie them down as well. Pre flower pistils have appeared on both girls.......so we are getting close to the stretch/final train phase. Until next week, Happy growing. Peace
Welcome to week 5! Well we are at the beginning of flower, first LST done, second and final LST in the next day or two. Up to full power on nutrients, with a feed/feed/water schedule. Good growth in the last week, I'm thinking these will end up around 22 inches high after training. Not much else to report, been pretty smooth sailing, actually I think almost every grow i've done using maxi bloom, or maxi grow and maxi bloom has been pretty smooth....I use only the maxi bloom on autoflowers, as it has just enough nitrogen, and i'll tell you the results are good, we shall see how much of a difference th sf 2000 makes over the 1000. Until next week, happy growing.
Welcome to week 6! Did a little more LST on a few of the side branches, nothing crazy. Seeing some good growth, BUT there are quite a few genetic flaws (missing parts of leaves, or entire leaves). This strain from my understanding is or was still pretty young, and these seeds were part of a giveaway, I am in no way faulting exotic seeds, as I knew what I was getting into when I planted them, and I'm sure that exotic is continuing to stabilize this strain. Let it be noted that I have never had any issues with genetics with any of my other exotic grows. Aside from the leaf deformities I don't see any other issues, growth is consistent between the 2 plants, and rate of growth is right where I would expect it to be for the age of the plants. I will also probably be starting another grow in the next week or so, since I've almost got my 2x4 tent up and running. The plan will be to start another 2 plants once my first 2 are 6-7 weeks old, that way I have less time between harvests and thus more weed on hand.👍
Well until next week, sit back, relax, and fire up a fat one. Peace.
Welcome to week 7! Saw some good growth this week, I adjusted light power up a bit, and adjusted a few branches/tucked leaves. I will say that these are going to be the shortest autos i've ever grown....the stretch is almost over and im at 13.4 inches, however node spacing and bud formation is fairly tight, good leaf to bud ratio. The way the buds are developing looks like it may be some dense stuff, but time will tell. All I did with training this week was mainly leaf tucking, and I pulled the main top down some more. She's reasonably level for the time being, and both plants are pretty much the same height. Well until next week, keep on keepin on. Peace
Welcome to week 8! Lots of bud growth this week, pistils exploding everywhere. Got the sf2000 at 65% right now, I increase ever other day based on how the plants react. These things smell awesome halfway through flower, and crazy frosty, even the fan leaves are partially covered. I had my doubts earlier in the grow, but what I'm seeing now has mostly changed my mind about this strain. It's still going to come down to what kind of yield I get, and what kind of quality it is, but it looks good at the moment. I'm still just moving leaves around rather than defoliate, no need to add any extra stress to them during mid flower. Well thats about it for this week, its basically just a waiting game for the next 4-5 weeks, its still fun to watch the buds develop and see how they turn out. See ya next time. Peace.
Welcome to week 9! ran into some light stress on plant 2 (her main stem is a bit higher than everything else), so I moved the light up to 20 inches to keep my coverage good, I left power where it was. Also ran into a bit of calcium deficiency, I start adding cal mag once flowering starts, sometimes the 1tsp per gallon is good, sometimes they need more, depends on the strain...either way I upped cal mag to 2tsp per gallon, I will use that amount for the rest of flower, except for the last week or so. Aside from all that shit, they are doing pretty good, buds stacking up nicely, a few pistils starting to change, good trichome production, everything seems to be on track for a week 13 or 14 harvest, but we shall see. Well until next week, do what you do, with what you got. Peace.
Welcome to week 10! Trucking along, basically just watching buds grow at this point, staying with the increased cal mag and slightly reduced feed amount, no further issues noted. Roughly 2 weeks left at this point. See ya next time. 👍
Welcome to week 11! And just like that they are about done! This was a fast finisher, which is one potential trait of this strain. 7 weeks and 2 days is a pretty fast flower in my book, and now I shall chop in 2 days or so, then hang to dry in the tent with humidity at 58% for 7 days or so. Until the harvest post, stay lit! Peace.
Well a bit of a smaller harvest than normal, due to the smaller plant structure. However the buds are sticky as hell with very good trichome production. Overall It wasn't a bad grow, although I probably wouldn't grow these again anytime soon, I will be sticking to photoperiods for the next few grows. Happy growing.
Looking good mate, I think you may have an issue similar to mine, looks like a little too much N causing the cal mag to lock out careful with the calmag as it can contain N.
Sorry for the unsolicited advice, I hope its helpful. Good luck with the rest of your grow 👌🙂
@InspireMe,That may be a possibility, I'm using a bloom nutrients for the entire grow, which is low in N, however they started showing pistils at 2 weeks so its possible the N requirement of the plants was quite low after flowering began and maybe a little too much N built up in the medium due to not enough run off during watering. Increasing calcium did make a difference, runoff ph was good. All in all I'm thinking its due to the lower nutrient requirement and early flowering characteristics of this particular strain. I did have a similar thing occur with another early flowering auto strain. It will be interesting to see if the increased runoff makes a difference on the next grow. Thanks for sharing your experience and happy growing.
@Growurownseed, Thanks! I use maxi gro during veg, half gro and half bloom for the first 3 weeks of flower, and then all bloom for the rest of flower. In 2.5 years I've only had to buy 3 small bags of bloom, lasts a long time, fairly cheap, and gets results. Add a good cal-mag like ROOTS and thats really all you need, screw spending hundreds of dollars on nutes, when you really don't need to. Happy growing bro.
