Seeds were soaked in a glass jar with water for 18 hours before being planted into the 50L pots. The humidity is 70% and 25 degrees in the tent. Medium was kept moist using a spray bottle. 3 of the seeds sprouted on day 3 with one sprouting on day 4.
Fed plants nothing but water at a pH of 6.3. The plants were stretching towards the light so for week 2 I will lower the lights and change to a 24H light schedule. I may have overwatered the plants a little as the stems started to turn purple.
Fed plants their first does of nutrients. The first feeding was a 1/8 strength does of the vegetation dose recommended by Professor Nutrients in the veg state. Nutrients Part A and B were added until the EC of the mix was 1.0 so I did not accurately measure how much was added. This dose was accidentally pH'd to 6.9 which was too high for the plants. The pH was then brought down to 5.8 for subsequent feedings and waterings. On some of the plants the stems started to turn purple then changing to red, I let the medium dry out a little before watering with water. Plants were moving quite a lot due to the fans so paper clips were used to stabilise the stems.

There has been quite a large amount of growth this week, one of the plants grew to a whopping 19cm tall. I fed the plants twice this week at 1/4 strength that Professor's Nutrients recommends at a pH of 5.8 and watered once with regular water at a pH of 5.6. The redness that was present on some of the stems last week has all but disappeared, however there appears to be some discolouration on some of the leaves as the tips are slightly turning yellow. I will monitor the plants closely for the next few days to ensure that the yellowness does not spread throughout the plants.
There has been some good growth from the plants this week. I started low stress training on Day 30 and the plants have all responded well to the training. I fed the plants once this week at 1/2 strength that Professor Nutrients recommends for week 4 plants. I have not been able to be as attentive towards these plants as much as I would have liked which has resulted in me not being able to read my plants carefully. There appears to be some discolouration on the leaves and leaf tips which may be a sign that the plants are not doing so well. I will need to do some research on why this is occurring and closely monitor my plants over the next week to ensure that these symptoms do not progress throughout the whole plant.
There has been some good growth this week, Ive been low stress training the plants this week and the plants have responded well. I accidentally snapped off a branch while training which was disappointing but overall Im happy with the growth. I mostly watered the plants this week as my plants seemed to be suffering from nutrient deficiencies due to a pH lockout, so I fed the plants twice just water pH'd to 5.7. I upped the feeding dosage to a full dose recommended by Professor Nutrients and fed all the plants once at a pH of 5.8.
Noted some good growth this week. I have been trimming large fan leaves that have been blocking growth sights however I believe this may have been stressing the plant and delaying flowering. I thought that the plants were going to start flowering this week so I fed the plants week 1 of flower nutrients recommended by Professor Nutrients. I noted some nutrient burn on the leaves of the plants so I will only be watering for a while. My pH has been off as I have been previously feeding and watering my plants at a pH of 5.8 so I will be flushing my plants at a pH of 6.5. All future and feedings will be at a pH between 6.5 and 6.8. Hopefully the plants will begin to show signs of flowering soon. Low stress training has been performed on the plants every other day allowing the plants to recover.
The plants have started to show the first signs of flowering this week. I switched the lighting schedule to 12 hours on/off to help induce flowering in the plants. Even though the plants are auto flowers I thought that by changing the lighting schedule that it may help induce the start of flowering. I may change the lighting schedule back to 24 hours on or 16 hours on, 8 hours off in a week or so depending on how the plants grow. I did some light defoliation on the plants in order to allow more light to the lower canopy. I fed the plants week 1 flowering nutrients recommended by professor nutrients at an EC of 2.0.
It was a very busy week so I was unable to do too much to my plants. I fed them twice with Professor Nutrients at a pH of 6.5 and EC of 2.0. They have grown a decent amount since last week and all plants are showing signs of flowering.
More solid growth from the plants this week. Again I didn't do too much to the plants this week as I just let them grow out. I have decided not to low stress the plants for the rest of the grow. I will only be lightly defoliating the plants when needed. I will continue to feed the plants their nutrients up until harvest now.
The plants have really packed on the buds this week. Each of the plants have started to increase their bud production significantly and new leaves are growing every week. The plants will require a minor defoliation each week in order to ensure that the bud sights get the proper light. The plants are continuing to be fed with Professor Nutrients at a pH of 6.5 and EC of 2.0.
This week the plants have really been producing a fair amount of buds, however the buds produced appear to still be very small and possibly needs even more time to flower. I have not defoliated or performed any low stress training this week. I have been simply just checking on the plants every few days to check the bud growth. I may continue to feed the plants their nutrients for one more week before watering the plants with only pH'd water to 6.5 till harvest. I will continue to monitor the plants and feed them when appropriate.
Seen some good bud development this week. I used Extreme Boost in the nutrient feed instead of Flower Boost which I think will drastically improve bud production throughout the plants. I have not been doing much to the plants other than watering and feeding the plants occasionally. I probably won't doing anything to the plants until they are ready to be harvested in a couple of weeks. I will be checking the trichomes regularly to determine when the plants will be getting close to harvest.
2 of the plants are showing high quality flower with lots of trichomes while the other two aren't as frosty, but they all look great and I can't wait to see how they turn out.
This week I have seen some good bud and trichome development from the plants. The buds have really started to fatten up on most of my plants and the trichomes are starting to grow and change colour. I will be feeding the plants for one more week before flushing and then harvesting and drying the plants. The relative humidity in the grow tent is a little to high for what I am wanting, the average humidity in the tent greatly increased after watering to as high as 75%. I have placed a dehumidifier in the grow tent but it has done very little at lowering the relative humidity. One of the plants has grown an excessive amount of hairs with very little trichomes on the buds which looks rather weird. I am guessing that the plant has a different phenotype to the other plants in the tent and is producing the weird buds. Its coming to the end of the grow and I am excited to harvest my first every grow!
It is now coming to the final week before harvest. There has been some fattening of the buds however it has started to plateau and the trichomes are now changing colour. The trichomes appear to becoming more cloudy with a few turning amber. I will be flushing the plants and only lightly watering for the next week before I harvest the plants. Nearly at the end of the grow and I can't wait to finally weigh the final harvest!!
This was my first ever grow and I have definitely learnt a lot from the experience. I made quite a lot of mistakes along the way which I am hoping to improve upon in my next grow with the Dark Phoenix strain. I was not super impressed by the bud quality that was produced by my plants as it was quite larfy. While two of the plants produced buds with a decent amount of trichomes on them the other two barely produced any. I cannot say that the quality of the buds is due to the genetics of the plants or some other factor such as using and underpowered light or underfeeding for the first few weeks of the grow, so I will have to grow this strain again with some of my remaining seeds to determine what the issue was. Overall I am happy that I attempted the grow and had a tonne growing and documenting it for you guys.
Happy growing!!
