Start of week 9 and the ladies are blooming :) Last week I had to tie one of the ladies down cause it was getting to high, and now she's adjusted. After two days she was looking up to the light again.
Changed the water on Friday, cause it was actually empty. This is the first time they've drank 15L of water in a week - 10 days. Checked the PH, like always, and now its down to 10L ish. So heavy drinkers.
Hoping to have them ready in a few weeks, but i cant say anything specific.
Anyhow, thats this week. Leave a comment if u have something to add, or some tips. Also, sry for the lack of photos this week, it just didnt seem necessary to take more.
Have a great week all :D
If this is your
First Grow ?
Like ever...
Don't do DWC would be my recommendation
Use soil or coco or a mix..
learning to Grow in DWC is like giving a 16year old a Sports car... it's probabally gonna crash...
Just some food for thought
@Fun_Growin, Thanks man it helped allot. What i did is i put the other bigger plants (in the other diary) in total darkness for 24-36 hours. Then when i put the light back on i could easily see that most of my plants had these little balls on the side of the nodes. No one had any "hairs" as u say. So i presumed they were all males, unfortunately... Now all i have now is this diary and will update on monday when week 3 begins.
Take care and have a nice weekend!
@Juicegrower,
My reason for saying if your just starting out DWC is a bad idea because it's the fastest and most precise system, if you do something wrong it goes wrong fast, where as Soil or coco you can possibly recover from a problem, DWC will DIE FAST! But it sounds like you have already ironed out the kinks to DWC, so that's great 👍🏻
As far as sexting your plants.. you have 2 options that I know of, clone your plants, take notes on where they come from, after they root Flower the clones to see how they sex toss the "father plants" or wait till they root, flower your plants, toss the boys and their clones...
Hope this helps
@Fun_Growin,@Fun_Growin, Thanks man. I just finished a reply to u, but it dissapered for some reason. No, this is not my first dwc grow. ive done this a couple of times now, and if u check out my other diary where i grow aurora indica, u can see my growth much further ahead. I would like though, to know ur reasons for this statement. Pros and cons.
Also, if u would like to help me in an other way, please check out the diary im talking about, and please help me sex them. Cause i was stupid enough to buy regular seeds last time, and i just can seem to get the sex right om them... :/
Much appreciated man and have a nice evening!
Looks really good now. If they are a meter tall now you can expect them to grow at least 1/2 a meter more while settling into flowering. In lieu of moving everything around you could try to come up with a way to tie down the taller colas.
@Sgtoso, Thanks :) U know, ive just been viewing another grower with the same plants do exactly what ure saying. Before next water change, ill have tied down the tallest ones. And once again, all creds to u on the defoliation and lollipopping!
Take care!
Hey brother looks good. I would defoliate if I was you. Get rid of the crap off the bottom that is going to give you a gram or two at most. The plant will divert energy to grow the small stuff that doesn't matter. The stuff on the bottom will be 50% as good as the top part. Why waste your time on mids? All of your work + costs should mean something. Lollipop that stuff bro! Let the tops flourish! Good luck!
I'm going to be interested in your grow. I have a 5 plant round of MSNL's Auto Carmelicious curing at the moment. It smells pretty delightful but needs a few more weeks. I grew it alongside 3 plants of MSNL's Auto Pineapple Kush.
I topped my plants at the third node towards the end of the 2nd week. Carmelicious topped well. Pineapple Kush not so well. Mine finished in 68 to 75 days.
Yield was decent considering my set up. After drying and trimming I had 96g of Pineapple and 255g of Carmelicious.
I ended up with seeds. I guess I need more experience in sexing plants. There had to be one or more hermaphrodites as I had buds on all of them.
@Juicegrower, it's not scientific but the first time I grew Auto Caramelicious from MSNL I ran them on 24/0 schedule with a 300 Watt LED Rolandro (formerly Mars Hydro). The plants seemed to be more fragile with this lighting environment. This was my first grow, so I may have messed up the nutes but I did follow someone elses plan very closely. This second auto grow I'm on now I decided to go 20/4. Still giving rest but really pumping the light quite a bit.
Much less stress on this plant this time but I'm also using a different method with my own super soil. So it's not an apples to apples comparison.
This is totally my opinion and only based on one grow, but I think with an Auto if you get a super hearty strain or just a seed / plant that is super strong then I think lots of light is fine but if it's one that needs care I think a rest allows the plant to rejuvenate and strengthen against issues and potential disease.
@Juicegrower, You can probably bump the light schedule back up once it starts flowering for a week or two. At that point the plants' roots don't expand as much anymore so the extra darkness might not be needed.
The next time I run autos I'm going to hit them with 18/6 until flowering starts and then I'll try bumping it up to 20/4. My reasoning is to give the roots extra grow time early on when it is needed. My CMH light is pretty intense even at 315w. I still like to give the plants a rest daily. Constant light might stress them out in my case.
@Sgtoso, NP mate! When it comes to LED compared to HID or any other it works basically the same. The big difference is the wattage output and use.
I've also read the same as u, that the lighting schedule gives little or no gain. Either 18/6 or higher. My previous statement was more based on starting a discussion with u, which has happened :) I'm thinking: if the plant has no negative benefits from having a 24H lighting schedule, then why not keep it? The cost for me, running a 200W LED, is close to non. But that being said, I've changed it now so that the plants have a few hours of total darkness. Like u proposed.
As u can see, the plants a thriving now. And this might be your contribution :)
Thanks for your continuous discussion and motivation!
True... its 150 and the ones i have on the sides are 26W each. So a little over 200W in total. It works fine, but it makes allot of noise and keeps the temp in the tent at about 30C all the time, so its difficult for me to recommend this one in particular. The ones one the side though is really nice and totally silent. Ill add a link for them here:
