Nice to see a germination phase added now that I didn't bother to photo that phase. Been awhile that I've been offline for the pandemic - but we're all vaccinated and raring to go - EXCEPT that I had a relatively minor biking accident about 3 weeks ago and broke a big toe (perspective - I was going pretty slow at the time). First time I've broken a bone in 63 years. My dogs are not happy about this either.
There's actually a week missing here according to my notes. Didn't have any photos for a couple weeks as the babies vegged under my KIND K3 lights in a tent, but when I moved these babies outdoors things really took off because the weather was very nice.
I have 2 Sour Diesels living, but the first shows considerable leaf deformation and the second was stunted and got off to a slow start. The two Blackberries look the best of this group presently.
Finally took the time to put a tape measure up against these girls. Haven't been very mobile the last few weeks while my toe rehabs. The Bigger Sour Diesel has all kinds of leaf deformation going on. Don't think there's a normal looking cluster of leaves on the entire plant. The mini-me version is not that bad. Gelato looks a little funky, but not deformed. The Blackberries are doing WAY better than the first go-around I had with that plant with a winter indoor grow.
It's nice to get a green light from the doctor that it's OK to stress my broken toe after a few weeks of babying it - probably unnecessarily in my case. Started out the week with beautiful sunshine from sunrise to sunset and finished it off with two cloudful days. The Blackberries are clearly loving sunshine more than the other beasties, you can tell by the purple coloration up top. The Gelato seems to show a lot of leaf corrugation. Odd that so I'm going light on nutrients with her. The big Sour Diesel shows all kinds of wacky leaf deformation, the mini version looks quite normal in comparison. Not the first 420 variant I've seen with weird deformation unfortunately.
For the record > The "Light Schedule" and "Lamp to Plant Distance" shown in this week is a software malfunction I can't seem to correct. Both of them should be ZERO.
Just about everybody has entered at least the early stages of flowering by now except for the mini Sour Diesel. The bigger Sour diesel shows more normal leaf formation this week. Mini version looks ok. Gelato has a lot of corrugation in the leaves. Don't know what's up there.
Weird thing about the 420 crop.... no two plants seem to be the same. Of the 2 Blackberries, one is showlng LOTS of purple and the other shows none, although both are the healhiest of the batch of 420's. The Sour Diesel's have stabilized but the bigger one started out with lots of leaf deformation. The Gelato is in a world of its own with corrugated leaves. I had a CBD version of a 420 plant that showed that same phenomenon last year. No clue then either. Bugs don't seem to be present on micro inspection.
Weather hasn't been too hot the last week, in fact, it's been on the cooler side most days with temps in the 70's at best. Nice. Alternating feeding straight water and nutrients. Time to start looking at terichomes.
The time has come to pull the plug on the Blackberries and the Gelato. The 2nd Blackberry which never showed much purple is starting to make a leaf color change like leaves in the fall, not the buds, but the fan leaves. I'm going to flush the Blackberries and Gelato tomorrow and let them dry out and harvest them at that point.
The Sour Diesel's have at least a week to go but probably not much more.
I've been pretty lazy this spring because I broke a toe in a bike accident and was offline for a few weeks. Didn't bother to wash any of this crop either.
This baby is still dry hanging.
This girl took a bit longer to dry than expected, and the yield was actually a few grams smaller than the version I grew mostly indoors the first time around.
She didn't seem very happy most of the time and I never figured out why so I'm not surprised at the small yield.
I flushed both these girls a couple days ago and I'm just waiting for them to dry out sufficiently before I harvest them. Probably Monday morning. It hasn't been that hot lately. Started to trim the Gelato today and decided she could dry some more first. She's been hanging up a week with the two Blackberries.
Pulled as many fan leaves off as I could and took final pics of the two Sour Diesel's on Monday afternoon June 28. I'll harvest them tomorrow morning at dawn. Girls are quite sticky.
While the Blackberry is still hanging to dry it appears clear at this point that the Sour Diesel pair will come in better at the scales eventually when that time comes. It's been quite moderate on the weather front here in northern California so the plants are drying slower than I would normally expect. I also DID NOT wash this batch of plants grown outdoors, mainly because I'm getting lazy in old age. I believe the washing ritual actually helps dry the plants quicker.
Added in the final weight on July 11. One plant was large and one was small. The total for both plants came in at 67.5 grams but the small plant was only 16 of those grams, so one was 3 times the size of the other.
