Much better week!!
A couple stragglers, but I've seen some plants look funky early and become beasts in flower.
Feed is around EC .9. I plan to increase it to 1.0 later today and flip them to flower in about 2 days.
I haven't done a reservoir change yet. I found that early changes often lead to some root rot. Something about the change messes with the roots. Maybe it is water temp (too low?), the shock of a new environment, maybe the roots rely on the beneficials in the water early as they don't have much of their own defenses and it lets the bad shit take over for a few days.. maybe a little bit of everything combined. IDK rambling.
All the seeds are regular except the Purple Turban, so I am having them sex tested. I clipped a small part of a fan leaf and mailed it out to DC. Hopefully I will have my results in a couple days. Figure it will save me 2 weeks of space, time, and wondering WTF they are.
Yesterday I added another light, so now I have a 135w Rspec and Bspec quantum board in the 3 x 3 turned down to about 100 watts each. I had them all the way up but it got way too hot.
Added some pictures from last week to show the root growth in 7 days. Pretty cool. π
Starting flower in a few days. See you later!

Characterized by smooth, lemon, grapes, diesel and earthiness flavors and aromas.
Thanks for stopping by!! ππ
Both strains sound delectable. I remember fondly smoking some hash plant type strain years ago that was just outstanding. Sky Lotus sounds intriguing- Skywalker is a fave.
@StunFlower, awesome that you found a cool breeder up north, sucks about customs. I love supporting the little guys. I try to steer away form the companies that outsource their breeding because if they aren't doing the breeding themselves, what are they in it for.... que Mr. Krabs from spongebob: "Money!". I'm going to a little searching on EC genetics. π
@Oozle, There are so many strains out there that I'd love to grow, but sadly, quite often you have to jump through hoops (i.e. source out of country options) to acquire seeds in Canada; especially if they're from smaller breeders. Considering growing is legal here it's quite frustrating that there aren't more options. I did, however, recently discover a breeder in Nova Scotia (EC Genetics) who produces some interesting looking strains so I've put an order in to try a couple out (Scotian Gold and Pineapple Skunk).
@StunFlower, I've never had any hash plants, so excited to give these a run. I've heard a lot of good things about bodhi crosses and they were ridiculously cheap during 4/20, 45-50 bucks per pack (11-13 reg seeds per pack) and buy 1 get 1 free, so of course I picked up 6 packs lol.
I agree, I loved skywalker when I smoked it and this cross looked sweet. I killed a sky lotus last night adding a light lol. I thought I clipped the light in, but it smashed 1 pretty good, but that's why I pop extras. I always seem to kill a couple early.π
I'm keen to see if the light change speeds things along for you. Love the yoyos! Dance puppets, dance!
"Nice smells, sticky fingers, and frosty." I love those guys. Didn't they just play Lollapalooza? π€£
@StunFlower, haha. I actually watched the Foo Fighters do Lollapalooza on Hulu.. they did it live was pretty cool. I think Sticky Fingers opened for them π. There had to be 100k+ people there. Was nice to see the world being semi normal again.
The root growth is incredible - pretty cool, indeed. I had no idea there were sexing services - that's handy! Plantcestry.com? π Sorry for the terrible joke. Had to get it out of my system.
@StunFlower, plancestry lmao.. I wish. Imagine really knowing the genetics of what you are growing. It is Farmer Freeman. They mail out a little kit that I put some leaf tips in and mail it back. Then I hopefully get an e-mail in a timely manner lol. Keeping my fingers crossed for at least 3 females.
@ghani, ty! I plan to pop some more bodhi stuff next run. He's made so many awesome strains, it is hard to decide which pack I want to pop next. I'm leaning towards looking through a pack of Lavender Jack..... Have a good day. π
Enjoy the rest of the summer and your break from growing! I look forward to see what strains you'll be spinning up in September.
How long do you typically take to dry your plants before you jar/cure your buds? I strongly suspect my last batch dried too quickly (about 3 days in low humidity) and I think the smoke suffered as a result - grey ash; inconsistent burning. Any drying/curing tips you might have would be welcome.
@Oozle, Thanks for the advice! I was somewhat horrified how fast my last harvest dried. I'll set up the humidifier in the tent when I'm drying and adjust as required. You are so right about hanging the plant whole to slow things down - I'll take the time to remove the plants from the ScrOG intact this time around. My cure process is pretty much the same π We'll see how it goes this time around.
Your Star Wars themed grow sounds hilarious - I get a kick out of strain names. π
@StunFlower, Thanks dude. Thinking star wars theme. Jawa Pie and Yoda Soda.. strain names these days lol. We will see, lots of time until then.
For drying I follow the advice as most youtubers and dialed it in for my setup. I found actually using a tent to work so much better than hanging them in my closet. Closet I was lucky to hit 7 days until dry.
Last grow I was able to extend the dry to 12 - 14 days depending on what side of the tent the plants were on. I found drying them too fast really hurts the terps.
I hang the whole plant and remove the damaged fan leaves and any I think might cause mold. A lot of water are in the stems, so keeping the plant whole slows the dry down.
Main thing is like growing, keeping the environment stable. Most people recommend 60F and 60% humidity, but I can't get it that cold, so last grow was 68-75f (20-23c) and 55-60% humidity.
I set my AC infinity fan on low and let it turn on/off to keep the humidity right. I added a mister and a oscillating fan on the ground to move the mist from the humidifier all around the tent.
Curing I don't do anything too special. Crack open the jars every day or so for the first week for 10 min. Then if they are feeling dry, maybe a boveda pack and open for 10 min every few days.
Good luck with the dry. It really makes a difference in the smell and taste.
The girls are looking great π Funny you mention your hands off approach this run - Iβve been following suit with my plants as well. They donβt seem to mind π
11/13 light schedule... intriguing. I'm curious to see the impact that will make.
I'm with you on the " I'm not exactly sure what the leaves are telling me here" statement. It seems I have one plant every run that puzzles me. π€·ββοΈ
@StunFlower, some breeders run 11/13 all the time... supposedly there is more phenotypical expressions compared to 12/12. It probably depends on the strain and stuff too, but hopefully it will tell them to finish faster. I was actually thinking about running 11/13 the whole time in flower for my next run in the fall.
Ha yea. I really think I need to get some hydroplex (0-10-6) from botanicare and use it for a couple weeks early flower cause I always seem to have a little too much N and not enough P. Last couple times I used more astroflower I wound up locking out calcium. Oh well lol. As long as I am in the ballpark and the buds look decent I'm not going to do anything too drastic.
These babies are putting you to work! I'm going to be watching your Remo tweaks with much interest. I may end up following your feed chart when I get to the flower stage. Coco, eh? It's crossed my mind as well π€
@StunFlower, They seem to be liking it so far. I'm just going to keep the bloom booster (astroflower) at like 30-60% the recommended amount and hope they have enough to eat.
