I am growing in a 3'x3'x6' grow tent. Four total plants in 5 gal buckets with holes drilled in them for air/drainage. I am using Fox Farm Ocean for my substrate with no added nutes for maybe the first few weeks. The seeds were 2 white widow max autos and 2 magnum autos. Ordered two more (will total 4) "300w" LED's.
I introduced the nutes at about the end of week 2 (1/4 strength). I plan on going to half strength near the end of week 3 into week 4. Mid way through the week I added two more 300w led's (156w true). Each plant now has a dedicated light. Some of the first leaves are bending or twisting a bit. I plan to ph my well water from now on. I also raised the lights from 13" to 18" out of fear I was hitting them with to much light. I also have a super slow grower (magnum 2) but havent given up on her yet.
The added light and short light distance seemed to stress them out last week. Once I raised the LEDs, the plants shot right up. The smaller one has a tiny amount of nute burn (she was also the tiny stunted one - magnum auto 2). The others seemed to take in the 1/4 nutes pretty well.
I started LST (very very lightly) this week. No noticable signs of deficiencies. All the plants seem to be speeding up growth along with the early stages of flowering. I will stick with this dosage of nutes throughout remainder of grow. Will introduce big bud and bud candy in the next couple of weeks. Slight droop as I just got back from a 4 day vacation (just watered).
Flowering has begun. Small nute burn on the edges of a few leaves on bottom of wwm1 but otherwise I haven't had any other problems this last week. It's been fun seeing it get bigger by the day.
I left for a vacation and during week 6-7 have experienced a bit of nute burn. Iv been giving a very small dose compared to the manufacturers instructions of the nutes. Overall though the plants have had pretty consistent growth over the last few weeks. The white widows have put on more bud size compared to the magnums but the magnums have been more resilient.
Some bottom leaves on the widows have died off or are starting to turn yellow. My stunted magnum 2 has still been able to get some good buds but over the last week it has developed a new issue. The magnum 2 may be harvested a tad early in the next 2 weeks. The magnum 1 has no seen issues and is double the size of magnum one. However the buds on magnum 1 are super small and airy compared to magnum 2. Both widows are coming along nicely and have developed a super strong smell that seems to increase daily.
I will update after cure and taste. I'm trying to avoid total couchlock and being it's my first grow I didnt want to miss an opportune time to harvest so I decided it was time based on looks. All trichomes were cloudy/milky and some have just started turning amber. Overall this was a super simple grow and it looked beautiful. I didnt think my first grow would look as good as it did. It also yielded what seemed like a decent amount (didnt record went weight but will update with dry later). I only harvested one of the widows (#1). I had also harvested magnum 2 because of an issue a few days ago. I will update the status of the magnum and other widow in about a week.
@BonerChamp, check out my super og kush grow it was done with a cheap 300w led and 2x2x4 tent from ebay and i harvested 3.64 ounces dried n cured so 3 in one tent will give you something good im sure. The little leds that could lol oh yeah and some screw in led bulbs for supplemental.
yeah, im a little worried for when they start puting on size. I thought about ordering two more of the same lights but at that point i should of just gotten a larger light. Well we will find out : )
Yeah... I never factored in the different possible harvest times! So I'm definitely in the market for a drying tent. But for now the box seems to be letting in minimal light and it getting just enough air circulating. Thanks!
Looks frosty! And a nice canopy. Now, I don't want to sound a critic (I am just a novice too) and I realize you based the harvest time off the trichomes which is a great idea. But I think this looks like a rather early harvest. The leaves are very healthy which indicates to me that the plants are not getting ready for the last part of their life cycle. I actually wish my plants looked this great 9 weeks in because my own WWs looked all kinds of funky. It seems like your WW still had a ways to go in terms of bud and THC production. My own plants never even reached anywhere near 10-15% amber even after double the "recommended" flowering time. (Most ambers on leaves and stigma) Either way, it looks like it will be a good smoke and you can be proud of some beautiful plants grown by yourself. 👍
Thanks! I would say an extra week would of done it some good. Currently one white widow and one magnum have yet to be harvested and will probably harvest the other widow in another week or so. The remaining magnum seems to still be a couple weeks away. I'm excited to compare what the differences in harvest time will be. My hope is that through this method I'll know what I like best in terms of duration (I still have a handful of each strains seeds)! Thanks, I appreciate the feedback!
Damn, bro, nice work. I'm a week ahead of you with the same strain from MSNL. Grew mine outdoors on a roof deck in the midwest and didn't get nearly the same amount of frost or density. Could be the light, could be the nutes.
Any suggestions as to the possible issue with magnum 2? Are the slight brown ends on most of the widow 1 nute burn? Are the yellowing leaves near the bottoms of the widows normal and will this continue until all of them fall off?
