Emilia - one who excels, named in memory of my first dog :)
Emilia had a bit of a slow start. She went into her glass of water on May 13th and 5 days later on May 18th still had not even cracked. I was pretty worried she might not make it at all or if she was alive might drown if she stayed in her glass much longer. So I tried my hand at the paper towel method for the first time. And lo and behold 24 hours later there was a taproot showing! So I put her into a rapid rooter and then, as usual, straight into the final 5-gallon pot. Two days later she poked her head out - hat off and everything.

Week one of veg for Emilia! So happy with my little girl! So far she's doing fantastic - she's now 2 inches tall and getting her first set of leaves. Can't wait to see this one grow! :)
Second week of veg for little Miss Emilia. She's doing well, growing like she should - added 1.5 inches of height in the last week. She's still on a 24 hour light schedule and will stay there for at least another week after this before slowly moving her towards an 18/6 schedule. She's also still being watered with distilled water just to be on the safe side.
Week 3 of veg for little Emilia. She's very tall with much smaller leaves than my last few plants. She's currently working on node number 5. At the end of the week she was switched to a 18/6 schedule. Gonna let her grow a bit more before we move on to her first topping.
Not a very good week for poor little Emilia. First I noticed her baby leaves turn yellow. Didn't think too much about it but then her first node leaves started turning yellow as well. It seemed the yellowing was "climbing" up. So I looked even closer and realized that while she was 5 nodes tall and working on the 6th, none of the growth tips had grown. At all. Even at the first node they were still only a couple of millimeters. Usually at this point they're at least a couple of inches! Got some advice from experienced growers on an internet forum and was told she was hungry - she needed nutes. With all my previous grows FoxFarm soil was enough for at least a month into veg but I guess Emilia was hungrier than most. I immediately started feeding her. Let's hope that was it and she'll recover soon.
The smart people on the internet were right - Emilia was hungry. After I gave her nutes a couple of times she made a full recovery. No more yellow leaves. And all those growth tips started growing. Interestingly on every node one growth tip would grow much, much more than the other. I'm just happy she seems to be doing all right. Giving her this week to recover and once she's back to being healthy and vigorous it's finally gonna be time for her first topping. We're a bit behind schedule now but that's ok :)
Week 6 of veg for little Emilia. She's been doing reaaaaaally good. She's very vigorous now that she has all the nutes she needs. Growth tips are growing like crazy. In fact she looked so healthy this week I felt she was ready for her first topping. She took it like a pro. What a trooper! For the first time ever I decided to try and make a clone out of the topping I took - check out Emilia's Clone's diary if you're interested how that's going :)
Week 7 of veg for Emilia. She's doing good. Still growing a bit slower than other plants I've had but that's ok. Good things take time ;) This week I super-cropped her two new mains and bent them down to hopefully eventually create a nice horizontal growth. Letting her just grow a bit more right now to see which nodes are doing the best and will therefore be kept as mains as I mainline her. Next week she should be ready for her second topping.
Week 8 of veg for Emilia. She's slowly coming into her own. I finally felt she could take her 2nd topping and she did very well with it. That's gonna be the last topping for her. I could not quite decide which 8 growth tips to keep as her mains so I kept 12 for now. I might get rid of a few later if needed - or I'll just see what it's like to keep 12. Only concern right now is that her stem is still super thin. Never had that happen before so we'll see how that goes. Other than that she's doing really well.
