There Almost at the end of week 3, Strawberry cough look green and healthy But they seem to get wider and wider Not much height on them Is this something I should be Concerned about? Is this maybe a result of getting wet feet at a seedling stage?

I had tiny white bugs that did the same, dip and diving through the soil. I treated with neem oil, hydrogen peroxide water, tried flushing them out, drying them out and scooping them out. Eventually they left. Mine almost appeared fuzzy or many legged. I'd suggest try to scoop out what you can, possible try the sticky papers, and possibly the hydrogen peroxide water, dont do neem as you're so close to flower. You could try putting another plant inside for them to piggy back onto and get out. If you're only seeing them in the soil I wouldn't worry too much. I think mine came from using old soil/dry fertilizer in the beginning. Best of luck.

Hey so I've come across a description of the white bugs who dwell on and In the soil and it refers to them as "soil mites " and they assist in the breakdown of organ decaying matter in soils etc. It seems to follow much of the pattern of mine and what bugs you're having. They arent said to be dangerous to the live plant at all I believe.

@Newguy88, yes me too! I've had to really open. Up about bugs and other pests being outdoors. Everytime I turn around something other than me is attacking my plants. Grr!

@Experimentgreen, After some research I believe there are spring snails, also know has soil mites you hit hit the nail right on the head! I don’t think the girls are in any real danger, has long as there flowers continue to flourish. Thank you for the reassurance 😅 I’m glad I didn’t freak out and start pouring insecticides.

Sounds like fungus gnats to me. They show up when the top layer of soil stays moist too long. You can try watering less to allow the top 2-3” of soil to dry before watering again. You can also use sticky paper traps. I’ve also used a mild mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water (5:1) to kill fungus gnats - this works great, but also strips the soil of nutrients, microbes, etc. I’d only recommend that as a last resort.
