The weather has been quite nice for the last week or so. Highs in the low 70's and lows in the upper 50's. I consider these optimal temps for growing herb outdoors. A few hours of fog in the morning has probably been beneficial to the transition from indoors to outdoors. There's been enough wind to make everybodies stalks strong. We're ready for the summer. Grow baby grow.
Haven't decided whether I'm going to top this girl a second time or not. All the other girls on the patio have been topped twice - this girl only once. But she's not showing the extreme stretching after immediately moving outdoors as the other girls. May be partly attributable to replanting in a larger container sooner than the other girls.
@SonomaSungrown, I look for about 20% amber and everything at least cloudy, but it also depends on space available to some degree. I like to have at least 4 days or so between harvesting plants so I have time to move things around. My last plant will come down tomorrow morning. It's been a pretty good year timing wise. Good weather too.
@SonomaSungrown, I'm basically giving all the girls 1 gallon of fluid with nutrients followed by a half gallon of plain water. So basically 2/3 ratio every day. Trying to up my nutrient level with no ill effects so far.
@dalemac, ugghh. I was called once for jury duty but managed to not get picked. Youβre in a very long trial so I assume it must be serious. Good luck.
@Northern_Ent,
Thanks... good/lucky timing on my part as I've been tied up in jury duty since early November and just checked in about a week or so before the contest would have expired. No shortage of Seedsman diaries here. At least now I have enough seeds for another couple of years... although I did purchase some Acapulco Gold seeds from Barney's Farm (via Seedsman) to be one of my summer projects this year.
Unfortunately... jury duty continues tomorrow morning... and I'd be willing to bet that we will be further delayed by Covid complications or delays... the last 3 days we've been essentially sent home - which sucks after you get up and commute into the city. Wouldn't be so bad if I was still working and getting paid salary - but I'm retired and the compensation doesn't even cover lunch money after commute costs. I'll be very happy to get my retirement back.
