Took two tries to get one to germinate but worked out on the second pass. Hanging out under fluorescent lighting for the first week.

Decided to repot all my photoperiod plants from 2 quart to 2 gallon containers. Most of them were already rootbound (except for this one which is a couple weeks younger than the others). These will be repotted into their final containers in a couple weeks and moved outside around the summer solstice.

This is the last of my photoperiod plants to get going and she's doing fine now. I skipped a transplant step which will probably aid the plant overall in that I didn't use a 2 quart container and went straight to 2 gallons, which I should have done with everybody really but it will really concentrate the roots. Haven't introduced her to the sun yet... still living in the tent with my (Kind K3) LED lights... but she'll get thrown outside not more than a week past the other girls, which I traditionally do around the summer solstice in about a week.

I topped this baby today and may keep her inside my tent for another day or two. All the other photoperiod girls were transplanted today and moved outside for the summer. After a couple more days I may probably transplant her and move her outdoors. I've already given her a couple days under sunshine to acclimate to where she's going. June 21 > Decided to go ahead and repot this girl and move her outside with the bigger girls. She wasn't nearly as rootbound in the 2 gallon container as the other girls.

Weather has been nice and moderate in the 70's all week. Gorilla is a week or two behind the other big girls but she got moved into her 10 gallon home sooner by comparison and should veg a bit better. I wish I had topped the bigger girls about a week sooner but too late for that now.

The weather has been quite nice for the last week or so. Highs in the low 70's and lows in the upper 50's. I consider these optimal temps for growing herb outdoors. A few hours of fog in the morning has probably been beneficial to the transition from indoors to outdoors. There's been enough wind to make everybodies stalks strong. We're ready for the summer. Grow baby grow. Haven't decided whether I'm going to top this girl a second time or not. All the other girls on the patio have been topped twice - this girl only once. But she's not showing the extreme stretching after immediately moving outdoors as the other girls. May be partly attributable to replanting in a larger container sooner than the other girls.

We had a miniature hot spell last week with 3 days in a row in the high 80's, but other than that we have ideal temps in this coastal area of California, with daytime temps in the mid to upper 70's. I've pretty much decided not to top this girl a 2nd time, which is out of character for me but she seems to be coming along just fine without it.

It's been unusually nice in this area of northern California this week. Temps in the mid-70's to low 80's. This girl is bushing out nicely, taller than my Maui Waui now.

All the girls on the patio are flowering now. Seems like they all starting sprouting pistils about the same day. Weather has been beautiful the last week with highs in the low 80's and nights in the upper 50's. Not too much fog. This girl grew about 7" last week.

This girl is doing nicely under a favorable summer at present. Not too hot and not too cool. I'm curious to see if she outgrows my Maui Wowie - so far she's winning.

We seem to be enjoying some pristine growing weather these days. Highs in the low 80's or upper 70's. No unusual fire activity in my neck of the woods this year. I've got all the girls on 1.5 gallons of fluid per day presently.... just cruising along and fattening up.

Mother nature finally decided to turn up the heat this week and we've been pushing mid-90's for 2 days in a row after a fairly mild summer temperature-wise. The last time we hit 90 was in June for a couple days and that's it. Air quality has been getting a bit worse due to regional fires but they are very far away at this point. Just a haze that turns the sun red. Not like last summer when things got ugly. This girl is not very far behind Wifi in progression, though about 2 weeks younger overall. Not giving off much scent at this point.

This girl is similar to Wifi but she's showing little amber in comparison as she's a couple weeks younger. But she's not far behind in the way she's frosting up. She looks pretty yummy. She'll probably be ready for flushing in a week or so.

This girl was easy to grow. Not as fragrant as I would have expected but she smelled sweeter after a nice wash.

September 14 > Things progressed nicely this late summer. Things have been hotter than expected lately with temps consistently in the low 80's, but I got my Cream & Cheese processed so now I don't have to hang anything in my outdoor shed (which would be pushing mid 90's now). Now I'm setup to dry things in a hanging bag inside the house, and the next plant to be processed is hanging in my garage - so my drying temps will be at least 10 degrees cooler during the day. Slow is good. Be back in a week or so to update the weights.

@Shooey, Thanks... she might just be the heaviest thing I've grown so far. Easy to grow.
SonomaSungrown
Curious: What's your recipe for timing harvest? Are you looking for roughly a certain % of amber trichs?
dalemac
dalemaccommented4y
@SonomaSungrown, I look for about 20% amber and everything at least cloudy, but it also depends on space available to some degree. I like to have at least 4 days or so between harvesting plants so I have time to move things around. My last plant will come down tomorrow morning. It's been a pretty good year timing wise. Good weather too.
SonomaSungrown
Looking great! Curious: Are you feeding them every watering or every other watering?
dalemac
dalemaccommented4y
@SonomaSungrown, I'm basically giving all the girls 1 gallon of fluid with nutrients followed by a half gallon of plain water. So basically 2/3 ratio every day. Trying to up my nutrient level with no ill effects so far.

@dalemac, ugghh. I was called once for jury duty but managed to not get picked. You’re in a very long trial so I assume it must be serious. Good luck.
dalemac
dalemaccommented3y
@Northern_Ent, Thanks... good/lucky timing on my part as I've been tied up in jury duty since early November and just checked in about a week or so before the contest would have expired. No shortage of Seedsman diaries here. At least now I have enough seeds for another couple of years... although I did purchase some Acapulco Gold seeds from Barney's Farm (via Seedsman) to be one of my summer projects this year. Unfortunately... jury duty continues tomorrow morning... and I'd be willing to bet that we will be further delayed by Covid complications or delays... the last 3 days we've been essentially sent home - which sucks after you get up and commute into the city. Wouldn't be so bad if I was still working and getting paid salary - but I'm retired and the compensation doesn't even cover lunch money after commute costs. I'll be very happy to get my retirement back. 😑
