Started a sour ripper seed!
I LOOOOVVVVEEEE good sour diesel! Unfortunately it is not available in the Netherlands - yes coffee shops sell 'sour diesel' but they sell cancer medicine that tastes like if I dry my oregano plant and roll a joint with it. Last time I sampled good sour diesel was in 2013 in Barneys Farm 'Amnesia' coffeeshop and I still remember the taste/smell very well it makes my mouth water even 8 years later just thinking about it! 😍😀
Doing full organic living soil with the microbes feeding the roots instead of directly feeding. I chose biotabs since I do not have place to make my own compost (yet). So far it is INCREDIBLY EASY, maybe too easy haha 😅
Will be growing her with uvb supplements, if she makes it she will be a killer 😈😎
she is doing ok... health not optimal but growing well though.
==> She has large internode distance and not very strong apical dominance, so far makes me thing a bit of the really good og kushes that grow all lanky (e.g. scott's og)
First week of flower, she was struggling a tiny bit with slow growth so will yield less than would have been possible.
The last pic was taken before feeding pk compost tea, right after that she picked up with good healthy praying leaves and is growing vigorously again.
==> I am already giving the biotabs pk compost tea boost, brewed following this method:
+ 1 tbs pk compost / L
+ 10 ml orgatrex / L
~~BREW 24H~~
+ 1 ts mycotrex / 3L
~~BREW 30 minutes~~
+ 1 ts bactrex / L
So far the plants are loving the pk compost tea! They look healthier after each feed of this tea (1x per week, given 2x so far, first time was 1 week before the switch to 12/12)
Since they are not yet focused on flower size/weight and it is recommended to give this tea starting after week 3 (day 21) of flower I only give small doses (0.15-0.3L per plant) and top up with plain water.
The sour ripper is doing good!
She started stretching a bit later than the rest but has caught up well!
She is a bit more fussy with the watering and doesn't like the soil to not have much water, her leaves would often hang a bit with the pot still being heavy!
=> Now I just give her more water every 2-3 days till the 25L of soil are completely saturated!
Can't wait till they start smelling!!
Update day f21:
Did a defoliation on all plants, since they are small and do not take up much space I did only a minor defoliation to expose bud sites to more light and remove the under developed bud sites.
Gave some pk compost tea she seems to have responded very well :D
This one had very few leaves so left most of them.
She reacted pretty well to the defoliation and pk boost compost tea!!!
She is starting to get resin, a day or two later than the average plant, also not really any smell yet but its only day 23 flower so its normal :D
As you can see the harvest will be small, I didn't fill the surface of my tent but also it is summer and to stay safe from mold problems I keep it nice and airy :D
All going ok... biotabs are running out of nutrients a bit too early... plant has nice yellow fade starting but ideally the fade would have started in 2 weeks (to push her 80 days)
All going fine, buds should have swollen a bit more but biotabs had big mistakes in all their manuals/info for the pk compost tea... now I don't know how well it should have worked... better luck next run!
Harvest time is approaching!
Unfortunately, they are not very ripe yet, but running out of nutrients and veg plants are filling up the veg tent ready to flower.
I feel like nearly everything went well this run other than 2 points:
- biotabs slow release nutrients ran out a bit too fast. Unfortunately biotabs does not give useful/good instructions on how to use their tabs and it will work better next run when I make my own schedule (adding tabs every few weeks till day 7 flower)
- biotabs pk compost tea manual and all info was incorrect (they didn't mention to add the bacteria 😰 and mentioned to add mycotrex which was a waste...)
The sour ripper plant I will need to grow again for more volume and hopefully a bit more quality if I let her go longer.
The sour ripper smells very very good, I did not realise that this is what good sour diesel should smell like but basically it smells like a very sour kush like the og#18, which I absolutely love so I am very satisfied. The taste already comes through on bong hits and coats the mouth/throat with the delicious herby sour after taste 😛😀😍 Effects are slightly more potent than average for now, easy to handle mentally but also makes me very calm mentally and slightly slow. All problems disappear but I can still think (slowly haha). I am sure the effects will develop with a few months of cure.
Harvested F77 (could have gone to F84 easily)
Dried 8 days at 60-64%rh and 21c
Curing in jars, currently around 60%rh
The taste already comes through in bong hits and joints, it is already pretty nice to smoke.
Will definitely grow her again sometime soon! I need a lot more of this one 😀
This strain has sour diesel terps, the sour from the chem family, also present in sour fuel og kush hybrids. Basically the terps are on point, it is really good.
I did not grow her well, lack of nutrients, bad watering practice, early harvest, so I did not get amazing quality, but she is definitely in my list to grow again, she has the nice quality sour smells :D :D :D :D :D
Not going to judge the effect or anything since I didn't grow her perfectly, but I can confirm that it is what it should be, truly amazing sour terps :D
(FYI a friend grew her with a different setup and his pheno didn't have much sour terps, but was also dried a bit fast and harvested a bit early so can't judge the strain).
If you are hesitating, give her a go! The only downside is maybe low yield with large internode distance, so train her well :D
Rosin yield is not high (15-18%) but the taste comes through so the quality/personality is present in the rosin.
@@CDF20,
Salut! Alors I recently found out its best to only add the tabs after like 14-20 days after the seedling comes out the ground. I currently use plagron seedling & cutting mix with some worm castings and light startex and light initial feed with bactrex and orgatrex in a 1-1.5L pot, then after 14-20 days I transplant to 10-15L pot and add only 1 tab, I veg for another 20-40 days, add 1 more tab (or only 1/2 a tab if the plant is small) about a week before flipping to 12/12. I realize that growing with this mix under led lights the plants border on mag deficiency so next time I mix the soil I will add some dolomite lime.
I hope you have minimized issues and your preferred ripeness out of this one. I know this beautiful full-bodied strain, too. My local medical dispensaries can't seem to get it right either. Rip on! ✊
@Slurpy_Terpy, That's OK! I'll definitely stay tuned to what transpires. I am learning just how tricky it can be to master a growing method to get the absolute most from the plants. So, you're a good grower for me to keep in focus with a good pair of military grade binoculars. And I do hope it's the good phenotype! 🙏👍
@@@T4pr00t, Thanks for the support!
I will need to get lucky to not have any issues this grow since its my first run using the biotabs system (basically dry amendments to mix through your soil and some bacteria and liquid nutrients for the bacteria.. and later in flower a pk compost tea every 10 days or something).
However I am hoping/betting on this living soil growing technique to supply/'fix' the plants with exactly the amount of nutrients the plant wants to have, with as goal to have smoother burning buds but also more and more diverse terpenes.
FYI yesterday I added uvb supplement to my two cbd plants (I don't have a diary of them yet, they are in hydro in my bubba kush diary - bubba was a hermie though) -> since adding the uvb i checked this morning and rubbing my fingers against the buds the resin is CLEARLY more liquid/oily, even my GF pointed it out (without me telling her) and she usually doesn't notice much going on with the plants and finds they all smell the same apart from this current batch after the uvb she is smelling mango/incense/citrus etc so I think its making a big difference.
I used to have more terps without uvb with other lights than mars hydro sp3000, maybe the uva in this sp3000 causes the resin to mature in a weird way, because I have never had so few terps in my first 100+ plants before I had the sp3000 (but I changed more things in my setup so not sure if its the light, it has been bothering me since a year now!).
Anyway, I am hyped for this sour ripper! The reviews on her all point out her flavor is on point (I saw many positive reviews on french forums), and she won some competitions in the recent years and since its an S1 seed there should be a big chance of getting a/the good phenotype! Hyped :D :D :D
She will also share the tent with a few sour kush (reserva privada) seeds, that are having a tough time germinating (started 6, will keep 2) so I hope they come from one of the good old batched of Reserva privada, before their mother plants got seized by authorities....
Sorry for the book haha
@Hooman, Hey! The minimum you can for the first 20 days from germination it is nearly not needed. I would only add the tab at the earliest 14 days after germination and do only max 1/4 tab, maybe even less :D this way the plant ends up healthier and growing faster. Adding the tab directly after/at germination will stress out the plant and slow down the process. Good luck!
