This is my first Autoflower Grow. Just bought the Viparspectra P1000 to put in the 2x2 as a nursery light. This replaces the cheap light that I used from a local hardware supply store that caused some issues on my first grow. The soil is a 60/40 Fox Farm Ocean Forest and Happy Frog mix with added Perlite. I also prepped the soil with beneficial nematodes to fight infestations. Lights are on a 18/6 schedule set at 60%, temps are Daytime 75.8F, Night 70.3F, RH 80.4%. Watering with a spray bottle PH 6.0 water with 3 drops of General Hydroponics Rapid Start.
Second set of true leaves formed. As of 7/5 still using a spray bottle to water at wake up. No issues at this point, no sign of pests (i.e. white flies), pulled the domes off after one week of Germination and started using the humidifier.
7/7 Still going strong using the spray bottle to water, will slowly start to increase water by weeks end. No issues at this point growing fast, though Bubbles is still the smallest one.
7/8 First watering without the spray bottle, 250 mil 6.0 ph. Was able to get the first bend on Buttercup and Blossom, Bubbles is still catching up but she is gaining fast.
7/12 - Gave the girls their first drench soaked the medium will monitor the humidity to make sure we don't get mold of fungus. Bubbles is significantly smaller than the other two plants, I don't know if this is due to light placement (which shouldn't be an issue in a 2X2) or genetics. Stem is strong leaves are nice and green. The plan is to give them their first taste of nutrients at the end of the week.
7/13 - Checked the pots top soil is dry, gave them a little spritz will start regular watering tomorrow. Reapplied LST, going to really try to stay on it, so easy to slide. The nodes are tightly stacked dark vibrant green leaves very beautiful takes to bending with little fuss. I have a smallish fan on a gentle setting blowing directly on them to strengthen the main stem.
7/114 250 ML 6.1ph reapplied LST
7/15 Gave a spritz of water and reapplied LST, I think I know why the size disparity exists. The fresh air vent is on the side that Buttercup is so she is sucking up all the fresh fresh air. Well the next phase of the experiment starts next week, my flower tent which is currently drying my first grow is going to become available and two of these little ladies will be in a new home with a different sun rise.
7/16 - Looking good, gave the ladies their first taste of nutes, going real light 3mil per gallon of Flora Micro/Gro/Bloom plus 1mil/l of CalMag. Nice healthy rich green!!
I lost my dad this week to cancer. Part of the reason that I wanted to start growing was to create RSO as a treatment. If it weren't for the constant routine that these plants ...my little girls, require I think I would be..I don't know. So I'm sorry that this week isn't in diary form I actually use a whiteboard in my grow room to track and record my progress and I transcribe it here. But a little too distracted for that. This week we increased the water to 500 mil 6.1 ph every other day, the pots dry out quickly so increasing to a litre per starting next week. Also gave them a single dose of Armor si in the first watering of the week I figure with all the bending it couldn't hurt and as for the LST they are all taking to it very well with the exception of BUBBLES!! She is determined to grow in her own damn direction and I am inclined to let her.....1 Light feed with 5mil CalMag 3Mil each Flora Micro-Gro-Bloom per gal
Smooth sailing this week, thankfully.
7/27 Fed 500 mil each ph 6.2 from the 5 Mil/gal CalMagic + FloraMicro+Gro+Bloom 3Ml/gal each. Started light defoliation and on Blossom and Buttercup continued LST. I've pretty much abandoned trying to LST Bubbles her main stem is just too damn stubborn so I'm going to let her grow tall.
7/28 LST
7/29 Watered 500 mil ph 6.2 each
Big Week! 30 July I saw all of the preflower on Bubbles and thought I had a few more days, I only had 24 hours!
7/31 I moved Blossom and Buttercup out of the 2x2 and into the 2x4x5 and put them under the Viparspectra V450, Bubbles gets the 2x2 all to herself.
8/1 Watered 500ml ph 6.2
8/2 Reapplied LST to Blossom and Buttercup, and applied light defoliation
8/3 Watered 500ml ph 6.2 with CalMAGic
8/5 Light feed increased to 1 liter per plant
Weeks end starting to see the stretch also the difference in light effect on the growth of the plants. I suspect that moving them into a new environment and a new light caused some stress and it was apparent in the droopy leaves, but the girls have bounced back and are performing nicely. The aroma that comes off of them when I apply LST is amazing. This is my second grow so I'm still nubbing it up on the LST but figuring it out.
Stretch Week! Starting to see a clear difference between the V450 and the P1000, Bubbles was already running a little ahead of the other girls but the difference in the bud sites is amazing. But the growth of the plants under the V450 make me think that they might make up for the slow start.
8/13 Bubbles = 18 inches
Blossom = 22 inches
Buttercup = 24 inches
So the V450 girls are a little light in bud development but they are making up the difference in height. I've had to move the lamp higher twice this week. LST has been mainly tucking leaves I don't want to take any energy away from growth so no defoliation either. I've seen no issues of nutrient lose or pest infestation, these plants are healthy and strong!!!👍👍👍
8/16 Ran into a little heat issue with the second V450, caught the temps at 93 F, repositioned the fans and good to go.
8/17 Fed 1.25 litre each the difference isn't funny anymore, ordering a XS series light to replace the V450 also introduced Black Strap Molasses for soil microbes
8/18 Increased water and feed to 1.5 litre the ladies under the V450 are perking up, seeing bud development
8/19 Bubbles is still the clear leader with regard to dense bud production but she's also the shortest and thickest (tighter node stack)
Overall a very easy week, the earlier heat issues were due to light placement and poor air flow. I repositioned the ground level fan and placed it in front of the intake fan to better disperse fresh air in the tent. Luckily the external air temps have been pretty mild this summer and I haven't had to run the ac so humidity hasn't been much of a factor, Occasional spikes of Temp to 83 in the 4x2 but other than that a straight 81 daytime.
This was an interesting grow. Mistakes were made on my part with regards to the lights. This grow started under a Viparspectra P1000 LED for Germination and most of Veg. I moved two plants (Blossom and Buttercup) to the 4X2 and placed them under the Viparspecta V450 but the V450 generated too much heat so switched out to one SpiderFarmer SF1000 under Blossom and the Viparspectra XS1500 under Buttercup. Comparing all three lights from this stage the SF1000 put on more weight, thicker bigger buds all other variables (water, food, ipm, training) was exactly the same between the two plants in the 4X2. Late in flower about 3 weeks before harvest noticed light bleaching under the XS1500 so I raised the light another inch and dropped the intensity 5% this I think (on top of all of the other light changes) is what I believed stressed Buttercup and she herm'd and since I'm new and well had a lot of shit going on with this grow she pollinated herself (...himself...themselves???) and Blossom. Didn't noticed this until trim day. Genetics appear stable the plants took to LST like a dream (except Bubbles who I let do her thing).
Placed into darkness on 10.13.21 for 48 hours, chopped down on 10.15.21, placed in dry tent maintained low 70's 60's F with 60% RH for 10 days. Dry trim weight Bubbles 29.9 Grams, Buttercup 44.2 Grams and under the SpiderFarmer Blossom checked in at a whopping 74 Grams. So lesson learned...test your equipment BEFORE you put your plants in there I should have known the V450's were heat hogs I've used them in my past grow. Don't mess with your lights in flower and inspect your plants CLOSELY. I'm not mad about the seeds I'm growing for myself so I don't mind plus seeds from my favorite cultivar to experiment with yes please. The smell is strong diesel and fruity smell, and the smoke is smooth with a punch in the face!! Oh baby Buttercup has the whispy buds which is why I am convinced she was the herm and not Blossom but even whispy she is LOUD!
