First Grow

The first few sets of leaves can often be a bit funny, - it seems in an effort to get a root system happening, leaf structure can take a back seat. The leaning could be attributed to a sappy stem caused by being too wet too often, as evidenced by the algae growing on the surface of your potting mix. Deep watering to run off, then waiting until the top inch or so has dried out before watering again, is the way to go. Constant moisture, shallow watering, spritzing your plant or using a syringe to give minimal water and frequent watering, are all not conducive to encouraging a well developed and deep root system. So, to put it in your terms, yes, this plant is just being a bit funky and will no doubt start growing "normal" leaves soon enough. The weird shaped leaves are not a sign of disease, deficiency or any type of excess, they are just weird looking leaves that your plant will grow out of, especially now that they need transplanting. The fresh soil will encourage new and rapid growth, and your plant will grow in leaps and bounds. Leaving them much longer in those small pots will start to stunt them quite soon.
