7/1 - Second grow, here we go! Super stoked to be doing another grow with all the knowledge of my previous grow, but this time...legally!! Both seeds have already germinated in a shot glass of distilled water, placed into rapid rooters, and once I saw roots popping out the bottom, I moved them to their forever homes in the DWCoolers. Really excited about these strains, and to test the limits of my upgrade setup, which I probably will not be able to run at 100% b/c I'll need additional CO2 (room is not equipped for that). I'm not planning as being as detailed as my first journal (e.g. adding the ppms/pH, etc.), but I'll give an overall summary and how things are going.

7/4 - Both seeds popped up for America!
7/5 - roots visible!
7/5-6 planted in their forever homes in DWCoolers. Just regular water for now until I see roots coming out the bottom of the netpot -- then I'll add some nutes
7/10 - slightly less than a week and little TA's root popped out of the netpot today! My favorite part! Nutes have been added! TA's leaves are a little droopy, so I lowered the water when I put the nutes in, and disconnected the extended coolers b/c it's really not necessary at this point yet. DG is about a day behind, but loving life. ppm is slightly below 400

7/12 - DG was having some issues that looked like overwatering despite the water level being at least 3-4 inches below the netpot, and minimal top feeding (talking like 2 mLs of regular water). TA still rocking like a champ and loving life. I forget if i mentioned but nutes have been added. I had a similar issue last grow, and still not sure how to prevent this (although at least this time, I'm not as worried lol)
7/14 - DG tap root finally popped out today! I mean, it did germinate about a day behind, and I've heard this is a slower starting strain, so I'm not too stressed. TA has at least 4-5 roots poking out and getting long. DG still looking droopy and overwatered though despite low watering...hmm
7/15 - I forgot when I did this exactly, but I changed the light to 20/4 instead of 24/0. DG looking slightly better today but that could just be it overcoming the previous issue
7/16 - Things are looking back to normal for lil DG (Gizelle)! Meanwhile, TA (Zormond) is just taking off! Very symmetrical and perfect internodal spacing (compared to the bushiness of my first grow)

7/18 - yay issues! It's like I'm a first time grower all over again haha It's looking like a couple cal-mag deficiencies.
7/21 - TA is doing well, pretty standard growth now, and the root growth is exploding. She's up to about 4th or 5th node, and I was going to try topping, but since she's showing some deficiencies, and the DG is clearly stunted, I don't want to potentially mess this one up. Next time though for sure!
7/23 - TA taking well to training, and DG...well... just really not sure what's going on here. I'm about to be on vacation for 4 days, so I'm hoping things don't get too much worse while I'm gone. Before I leave, I'm refilling with fresh nutes and dropping the res temp down to 60F via a bunch of ice cubes (I am accounting for the pH of the ice cubes melting). We'll see what happens - this is what my grow cam is for!

(actually entering this on 7/30)
Ok, ya'll...I almost didn't want to post this, but I will, to help document and aid future DWC growers. Sit down my friends, and let me tell you all about how I royally fucked up while on vacation.
The day before I left for vacation I did a res change and had the extended coolers set up. Everything was perfect, and the plants were responding well (even Giselle was improving from before). Well, I wanted to make sure the water was "extra cold" to help keep the water well-oxidized, and I dumped a bunch of ice in the external res'. I accounted for the pH difference. What I didn't account for was how much water volume the melting ice added. Well, for both plants, this was enough to drown the air roots and keep them drowned for my entire 4 day absence. There wasn't much I could do remotely to remove water, so I just watched on my camera as they wilted away, and prayed that I'd be able to resuscitate upon my return. Zormond (TA) was able to start perking up by the last day, but was definitely affected, and some of the lower leaves needed to be defoliated. Poor Giselle...she's been through so much. Her air roots being submerged led to lack of oxygen and minor root rot by the time I was back. I carefully washed the roots (had to cut a couple bad ones) gave a good dose of hydroguard, and she has finally started coming back around as of 7/29. Today (7/30) she is making an amazing recovery, and even though she is stunted as hell, I don't feel as bad kekeping her around for science. I will 100% have to re-grow both of these strains to give them the proper justice they deserve. Zormond is still pushing out fresh white roots and developing with LST despite my abuse. Preflowers are in full effect (i'll add more pics shortly)
The lesson is: auto seedlings are very sensitive to bubbles and high water level in DWC. I'm still learning how to optimize the water level in my system (which is already different from last grow). I'm realizing a larger gap (even more than 2 inches) is better to give more oxygen and keep air roots from being drowned.

(making this post on 8/9) - hey all, life has been busy, and had to prioritize things at work so I haven't had time to really document. I've been SIGNIFICANTLY more hands-off this round of growing. Fortunately, DG is making a nice comeback, but will forever remain nano (it seems) due to prolonged stunting (drowning) -- I still can't believe it's alive at all. It's already started throwing out preflowers and has some trichs lol I'm hoping to get at least 1 oz of a nice cola (we'll see). No training for her though. On the other hand, TA is doing great, despite the overwatering. She's just been a vigorous trooper throughout this entire grow. I added a trellis net the other day and she seems to be taking to it quite well, which is allowing me to space the bud sites out. I've barely done any res changes or maintenance, but that was also a goal of my setup.
I should add, the tent is starting to get that hefty cannabis funky musk smell, and the TA smells beautiful - like a sweet, floral berry. The TA is starting to show trichs as well. Hard to pinpoint the smell on DG at this time, but I believe that is the one contributing to the muskiness, and if I brush the trichs I get an earthy, red wine grapiness. I'm so excited for these terps (and I'm so sorry Giselle lol)

(updating on 8/17) - things are going pretty steady so far. TA is just starting to engorge its buds around the pistils, but still has at least another month to go. The smell is definitely setting in and it's very difficult to describe. It doesn't seem to be stretching anymore.
Poor little DG is still just doing it's thing. I had to actually trim some of the dead fan leaves and a couple of roots that even Hydroguard couldn't fix. That seems to have really helped new, healthy root growth. Surprisingly, the DG is still frosty as hell (way frosier than TA at this time), and still looks like i'll get at least half an O (womp womp). I'm slowly moving the lights closer (intensity is around 80%. The scrog spacing has definitely worked out well - most of the buds are pretty even, but I can always improve

(updating on 8/24) - things are chugging along. I've barely done anything since my last update. The TA is slowly building out the buds and getting frostier (and smellier), and I'll have at least 25ish nice colas. DG sugar leaves still getting INSANEly frosty. It's like it's using up all the trich potential it had on this one bud! The smell on the DG is so freaking unique too, just cannot wait to see how it develops. I added a dehumidifier and another fan (also moved tower fan to give TA more airflow)...no bud rot on my watch! I'll probably do a res change in the next few days (TA is hungry), but also going on a camping trip next week and want to time that.
FWIW, DG is now putting out new, white healthy roots where I clipped from the minor root rot - i'll have to try and take a picture sometime. It's getting to that stage again where it's hard to take pics of these things.

(writing on 9/5) - been super busy with work lately and just got back from a camping trip, so I've been slacking with the updates, but rest assured friends, things are proceeding well. The Toofless Alien bracts are turning a purple, pink hue and it's beautiful -- can't wait to see how this one fades. She's also a thirsty one - had to keep upping the nutes to around 1k ppm. DG is starting to get thickkkkkk and I'm starting to worry a bit about mold despite a dedicated fan and humidity at 40%. She's going to be one huge nug, that unfortunatley has a lot of curled, small undeveloped leaves (we'll see how that affects things). She still has more trichomes per capita (lol) than TA. Just keeping things on auto pilot now and dialing in the environment. Just did potentially the last res/nute change for both ladies yesterday, and will likely start the flush in a week or two. Roots on the DG btw are looking great still!

9/10 - We're getting chonky up in here! TA continues to pack on the buds (slight foxtailing, but seems genetic based on the consistency). DG is getting thick, dark and frosty as well -- very difficult to take pics of (may have to try a video soon). TA is drinking a LOT, whereas DG is barely drinking, but roots looking great. The TA buds look so beautiful with the purple/pink bracts.
In terms of environment, I'm struggling to keep the tent below 78F (despite my basement being ~68-70F). I even have a box fan laying on my bar lights, but that doesn't seem to be doing much (surprisingly). I'm thinking it's due to the weather outside getting colder, so my A/C isn't running as much. Some of the tallest colas are showing a bit of heat stress with curled/tacoed leaves, but doesn't seem to be doing any damage to the buds.

(technically, writing this on 9/19..sshhhhh): not too many updates again - still thickening up and getting foxtaily so i've decreased the light intensity.
I cut a small tester nug as you can see (ended up being about 1.5g dry) and dryed it for several days. I was too impatient so i defintetlely broke in a little early, but hey, that's what a tester bud is for, right? I vaped part of it and took one bong rip, and it's amazing y'all...the terps!!! THE TERPSSS!! I really hope I can preserve them when I cure this time. It's seriously like a watermelon candy now, and the effect was very clear-headed and relaxing - great for day vibes.
Also, can't remember if I said this or not, but I started just giving plain tap water since they're both clearly near the end. Will be chopping soon!

9/19 - I did the thing y'all!! Both plants chopped at day 77! These are the chonkiest things I've ever had the pleasure of growing/handling. Time will tell how much they shrink in the dry. The plants are all drying in my dark tent and trying to get close to 60F/60% RH, but really closer to 65F/60% RH, so I don't freeze in my home lol Put up one more vid before I chopped. I still need to take a pic of TA roots, which are pristine!!! If you see the DG root pic, you can tell how hard it got stunted by the vacation fiasco.
Can't wait to make some rosin and trim these up! Slightly nervous of drying based on the density, so I cut more dry leaves than usual, but I don't want to risk mold.
Next update will be the official harvest post!!

This particular one was slow from the start, and had all forces thrown at it, but still pulled through. As I said, I'll definitely re-grow this one properly in a future grow to demonstrate this strain's true potential. The frostiness was still there even though it was so stunted, so I'm sure this would be a good extract.
Easy strain to grow and harvest. She took super well to training and was vigorous from the start. Ended up with about 30+ tops from one plant that were about 5-7g nugs when dried
