Germination was a breeze for PB. After 8 hours in water all 20 seeds had sunken to the bottom. I let them soak for an additional 12 hours and when taproots began to sprout, I transferred to damp paper towel and covered with paper place. Placed in dark, warm unused kitchen cabinet. Spraying with pH'd water (6.6) approximately every 8 hours, inch and a half long tap roots formed after approx 60 hours.
After their time on the towel it was time to move them into solo cups. After only 16 hrs after transplant two PBs were already sprouting and the rest weren't far behind! Fed a half strength Nectar for the Gods nutrient solution at 6.3 pH for first week.
Transplant week! Also moved them into current growing environment. In their 2 weeks in solo cups all PBs had fully colonized and the root balls were ready to stretch out a bit. They absolutely exploded with growth after transplant! No signs of transplant shock luckily. Near the end of week 3 all plants grew to their 6th node and it was time to begin mainline training. Also received results of genotype testing and culled all but 3 males. One stud for future breeding and two to crack open for inspection. My thought was that I wanted to get a general feel for how root mass has actually developed in the plants during early veg to judge efficacy of the nutrient line I selected without wasting time or female plants. Also will be able to use them as a gauge for when I suspect the ladies are ready to move into their final homes.
Continuing on with the mainline process! Plants were definitely stressed out for a few days but bounced back stronger than ever!
Note: The white spotting on the leaves is not powdery mildew. Just went a bit too hard with the foliar! Leaves were trimmed once the two new main colas growth nodes achieved sufficient canopy coverage.
Transplant week! Moved them into #8 Air Pots and they loved it! I added a layer of Build-a-Soil barley mulch and have found it really helps with moisture retention! I also kept training each new main cola in an attempt to fill out my new pot size. Stalks are getting thick! Decided to top at the 2nd node of the 4 mains and get this show on the road!
This week was a hectic one so most of my time in the garden was just for the bare necessities and to begin final LST on the final 8 main colas. Started this week off with a heaping serving of worm castings and "Grow" by Root Organics to give the microbiology a head start before bloom. I was able to get most of them spaced out right and the canopy is starting to even out! With the benefit of hindsight I probably should have let the 4 mains grow a little more before topping as the shorter branches made it difficult to achieve proper spacing.
@Ketamine, Thank you!! So I actually am not using all nutrients listed at the same times. The photo p and bloom khaos (accounting for 50 mil out of 131 ml/gal) are not used in every feeding and the Herculean Harvest/Demeters Destiny I use in varying degrees as needed to tie up any excess salts or insoluble nutrients left over from previous feeds. So 400 PPM +/- 10% is usually around where I end up using RO. I use bloom khaos as a foliar and photo p on every tea day (I follow a feed-feed-tea, feed-feed-HH flush schedule, feeding approx .5 gal every 48 hrs but increasing to .7 gal as we enter late flower and they get thirstier)
