I originally had applied to Green House Seed Co.'s Taste of the USA Contest here on Grow Diaries. Turns out I was ineligible but the good folks at GHS still had the big hearts to send me seeds anyway. So big ups to them for hooking this grower up.
Welcome to the Sea of Fire 🔥
For this grow were using the Dark Phoenix seeds that GHS sent to me to create a Sea of Green. I've got 8 plants in 8 1L pots.
I've decided to use Black Swallow's living soil for this grow so we won't need to add anything but water for the first 3 weeks or so.
Our goal for this grow is to have these girls ready for harvest in about 20 weeks which will bring us to the beginning of November 2021. If all goes according to plan these firey buds should be filling my friends stockings this Christmas.
All 8 seeds sprouted. I gotta say I'm pretty proud to boast a 100% germination rate in 2021.
Anyway, everyone has been moved to the grow tent and is now basking in warm glow of our TS-1000 by mars hydro.
Only watering about 250 ml per 24 hours but may bump that up if the soil is drying out too fast. Until next time 😎🤞
Everything is going well this week. Although two of the seedlings had trouble getting out of their seeds. One did manage to get out on its own but I had to help another one. Because of this two plants are a little bit behind.
Just feeding with a good dose of rain water I've upped the amount to about half a liter per day per plant.
Okay first the bad news. We lost at least one, possibly two plants from out sea of green. I'm not really sure what happened but some how their stems got damaged. I may have saved one, I've got one in some seed and root formula to see if i can get it to sprout again.
On to the good news. The remain dark phoenixes are doing great. This Black Swallow living soil is great. I was a little concerned that the pH level of my runoff was super low but afyter talking to the staff at my local hydro supply store they reassured me that a low pH was normal. The plants weren't showing any signs of problems but I was happy to put my concerns to rest.
New leaves are growing everyday and the remaining plants look healthy. Still just feeding rainwater.
These ladies are doing great. They're doing so well this week I decided to buy more living soil and put them in bigger pots I also rewarded them all with a haircut. The ladies are freshly topped and ready to grow big.
Still just feeding with rainwater the soil is doing all the work
This week has been fun. The sea has exploded with green lots of growth tips pushing up past the big fan leaves. This is our last week of veg so towards the end of the week I'll defoliate a little bit and then give them some time to recover before we switch to 12/12.
Not feeding any extra nutrients just rain water into the living soil and I think I got some mycelium growing, which is awesome.
Given how impressive the vegetative growth of this train has been I am super excited to see what flowering is going to be like.
