It looks like you are using fabric pots. I use a soldering iron or heat a nail in a flame and then use the hot nail to melt a series of holes around the top of the fabric pot. They are perfect for attaching wires or string for training the plant. I also fill the pots much more than you have. Over the course of a grow my soil level drops about 5-8 cm so I start by filling the pot almost to the top.
I also like using wire. It is easier to make small adjustments and there is no tying. Many nurseries and online sell wire just for this job. It has a thick, squishy rubber coating so it doesn't hurt the plant and can be reused many times. I also have used pipe cleaners.
