Hello everyone. This is my first time growing but I’ve been watching videos and researching everything I possibly can for about a year now getting ready. I figure if I start with a great light and manage my temperature and humidity using some home automation tricks, I might do OK. Throughout this grow I’ll show you how mine are doing as well as my build out for my Home Assistant dashboard. Escrow will be half me learning and have me teaching anyone who wants to know more about how I run home automation. I started with a great light and a small 2’ x 4’ tent. The tent and fan actually came from my son. I would’ve preferred the AC infinity fan because I think it would fit inside. As you can tell I spent quite a long time figuring out how to cram everything into a small space. For the grow I’m using great genetics and very little knowledge of what I should be doing right even though I’ve researched the shit out of this. Decided to use 5 gallon fabric pots and Foxfarm soil. I read that it’s too hot for seedlings but the only thing I had to add to it was Some miracle grow potting soil that I tried to put around where the sea would go. It was kind of a rush job and in retrospect I realize I didn’t fill the parts as far as I should have because I ran out of soil. Mistake numero Uno. That’s the seeds using Mephisto’s recommendation of folded toilet paper in a DVD case in a warm place. I wrapped mine in a towel and placed it on the seat mat. Sprouted and planted within 24 hours. Siblings came up one at a time starting on the second day. The Samsquanch seem to lag behind quite a bit As I was watering the first few times I realized how dry my soil was. In my haste I forgot after I filled my pots that I should soak them down to draining and then allow them to sit for 24 hours so that they can be somewhat charged with water. Knowing this I felt that I placed my little girls in a desert and had the overwhelming desire to pour water on them with every waking moment. I also spend the rest of my time reading about how overwatering Is bad. Oh well all three seem to come up I’ve got one big one one metal one and one small one but I think it’s all gonna turn out. I’ve got a dashboard set up so I can monitor temperature I am using some borrowed Wi-Fi wall switches to turn on and off fans and lights. Manage to mount the fan in a perfect place it gives me the inside of a tent free.Lights are hung 30 inches from the Leif I initially set at 80%. Internally I think it’s too high well simultaneously thinking it’s too low. Not sure what to do about this so I figure I’ll just do it all

Realized when I setup the soil that I forgot to give it a good soak and allow to sit for 24 hours. It's just straight out of the bag and I feel like I'm not watering them enough.

Learning a ton as I go. Started low stress training using rubberized wire poked down into the soil. Spent a lot of time just tucking the fan leaves down. I'm an idiot when it comes to watering. I dont think I'm getting enough down to the bottom of the pot, but dont want to over water. I'll just continue with what I'm doing.

Day 23 - These chubby, stubble little chicks finally got tall enough that I could LST the top cola. These girls seem healthy as shit but man I'll be happier as they continue to stretch. It's been hard working in the soil because of all the fan leaves. Worried about future moisture issues. Still have no clue how much to water them. Day 25 - Gave them their first nutes. Used about a third of the recommended pair from the fox farm trio since I'm using Ocean Forest soil. I've heard it's pretty hot, so I just fed with Calmag the last ten days. Continued with training the branches and it's really helping out. The branches are easy to tie down now that they are getting some length. Lights turned down to 82% for the last two days or so. Did some rearranging since the par in the center is slightly higher. My thought is the increased distance to the center will allow me to get balance out the two Pinots since the Sammy is shorter. We will see. I may send that off to live with a buddy if I run out of space. Random - Did I mention one of my other hobbys is home automation? I uploaded a shot of my dashboard that changes every time I get some crazy idea. I have fun messing with it and it keeps me in touch with my plants. Day 29 - two are starting to flower. Removed the humidifier and bumped the light up to 90%. Finally realized what a dry pot weighs so that helps to know when they need water. Time lapses are really helpful for me because I can see how each cola is developing. I can see where I need to tuck fan leaves and focus some lst love. Big momma is complete and going to let her be since I think it’s well distributed. The other Pinot is a few days behind, as is the Sammy. Happy with all Bree so far. Work has begun on the automatic watering system for when I need to leave for a few days

Day 29 - Second day of light defoliation only at the base. LST continues along with regular tucking Day 30 - flowering is kicking in for two of the girls and they are starting to get some stretch going on. They are not very tall but sure seem happy. Day 35? - Final pics posted for end of week 5 and week 1 of flower is killing it. Got the light dialed in after researching the par output on my light and watching some reviews. It’s now at 18 inches running 100%. 335 watt draw at the outlet. They seem to be loving it. Day 32 - finally finished the watering system. I can travel now if I have to.

So far, so good. The buds are really bulking up. Struggling with knowing when to harvest. I still have white hairs but many have turned. This could be because I had some watering issues and might have introduced some stress causing them to mature early. The Trichomes seem to be all cloudy and I have some that are amber. The agony of a first grow.
