Doing another grow of two FastBuds 2019 photoperiod tester strains that as of 2021 are yet to be released - I have no idea what they are. The last one I did was a keeper (FFT1), keen to see what these will be like - almost as keen as I am to know WHAT STRAINS THESE ARE PLEASE FASTBUDS PLEASE RELEASE THEM. RELEASE THE KRAKEN etc. pp. I'm using TNC BactorrS13 to lightly pre-soak the seeds for a few hours, then they'll go into coco coir in my special little root starter cups (tiny succulent pots with grooves for the roots to grow downwards and roots are air pruned also). The coco coir has some TNC MycorrMax mixed into it as well as some worm castings. 4 out of 6 are showing cotyledons after 3 days from opening the pack, the 5th after 4 days and the 6th after 5 days.

First week in the veg tent for the seedlings, they've grown well even despite the heat wave (some are showing minute signs of heat stress but will be perfectly fine after potting up next week). Root balls are developing alright, could be faster with temps more on point but it's summer. They've been getting a very light feed, but their meat and potatoes will come with the potting medium next week, an organically amended coco coir.

At the beginning of the week they were potted up to 1L air pots (final pot size in my tiny space). I've also added some pics to show what goes into my amended coco coir - this is just for illustration, after amending the coco coir it cooks for at least a month, i.e. the medium they went into has already been prepared over a month ago. Amendments are: rock dust, worm poop, Kelp, Alfalfa, Neem cake, gypsum, Epsom salts, diatomaceous earth (for silica and, when dry, the IPM properties). I believe this is called Living Coco. It spontaneously grows tiny mushrooms when the fans are off long enough. The next morning I prepared a microbial feed with TNC BactorrS13, freeze-dried Aloe Vera gel, Kelp + humic acid (2:5 ratio), a bit of dried molasses and some amino acids, as a bit of a pick-me-up as they looked a bit exhausted - made them perk right up up the next day, with outstanding growth following during the rest of the week. They also got a foliar feeding yesterday with such a tea, except for fulvic acid replacing the humic acid (I use humic acid for root drenches and fulvic acid for foliar sprays, otherwise the recipe is the same). They've still been getting the same light fertigation on top of the amended coco, but mainly to prevent deficiencies - most of their nutrients are going to come from the medium now.

Public service announcement: do not, ever, grab the wrong foliar spray and hit your vegging seedlings with the IBA rooting hormone meant for your freshly cut clones ... AAAAAAAAAH!

Despite losing a few days last week they've grown sufficiently big to top and take the tops as cuttings. The plants are going into 11/13 next week with 3 shoots each - leaving one to take another cutting if necessary and at least two to make buds.

First week of flower, stretch has gotten well underway. Moved them from the DP60 veg tent to my slightly taller tent (which is still a tiny propagation tent but at least 3ft instead of 2ft height), hoping the stretch stops before they hit the light. Pruning in 2nd week of flower is a possibility (with one more week of stretch to go) but I'd rather avoid it.

Been battling the stretch this week by tying down some of the taller shoots, kinda works but it's going to be close. 5 out of 6 cuttings have rooted, only waiting for FFT-2 #1 (probably rooting this weekend too).

Stretch is finally done, thank fuck because it was all getting a bit close to the light. Seedling vigour is always a problem in my small spaces. Now for ~5 weeks of budding and ripening. Keen to see which if any is a keeper.

Final week for these, 55 days in total. They're now drying for at least a week, going to come back with smoke reports end of the month or some time next month.

I probably got unlucky with the phenotype - someone else said this one had the biggest spread of phenotypes for them. I only got one phenotype, and it came with a strong Juniper smell that I'm really not too keen on, sadly.

Growing this strain was pretty easy, stretch is manageable. I didn't keep any of the plants though, as the terpene profile wasn't what I'm after.

I don’t understand why they don’t sell any photo periods that I can find.. they seem like decent breeders but autos are not my cup of tea. Didn’t know they even did photos to be honest. Not enough $ for them in photo strains is my opinion
Ezzjaybruh
Ezzjaybruhcommented4 years ago
@Chamalla, well, fast flowerers have ruderalis genes but they don’t auto flower.. so I think it takes a while to refine those genetics. For instance, I bought two fast flowering Blueberry x C99 and one flowered in 18/6 on its own like an auto and one did not. I assume it’s from not refining those genetics

Chamallacommented4 years ago
@Ezzjaybruh, their autos are pretty good, I've grown a few. I don't know what the reason is that these fast-flowering photoperiods aren't released yet, maybe they need more testing. The one I've grown so far was really nice, one of my two favourite plants in my garden at the moment. I hope they'll still release them eventually or at least tell us the strains ...

Chamallacommented3 years ago
@Anonymousgrowing, sorry I spotted this late. You mean the Fecida? I love them, bought two more after the first one. In my DP60 tents I run them dimmed at 60%, in this grow I had half a foot more headroom and ran it at its full 120 watts. Only getting light burn when closer than 2 inches even at full bore. For small spaces like mine these are perfect.
