mrJar For early vegetation, the plant was planted in a 1-liter plastic pot. A subsequent transplant into a 10-liter grow bag is planned. Outside, the temperature is 30C+, in the box it's 31-33C. The little one has a slight yellow tint, so I added an inexpensive magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) fertilizer to the diet, 1 g/L.

mrJar The yellowing after using MgSO4 has disappeared, and now the plant is a beautiful, rich green color. The little plant is bushy, looking very much like a lettuce bush at this stage. The heat has eased a bit, and the temperature in the box is now 25-26°C, which is an optimal level.

mrJar I'm actively using LST training. Everything else is on track - the bush is healthy, although the drainage PPM is quite high (1410). The plant already has a smell, though it's not very pronounced yet. The temperature in the box is maintained at around 25-26°C.

mrJar I overdid it with LST and broke the main cola😏 But it’s not a big deal, just means the vegetation will take a few extra days. It turned into an unplanned topping - the side branches should start growing actively now💪 The readings are normal, and the leaves look healthy. I'm feeding according to the fertilizer manufacturer's chart, and besides the base, I added 4 g/L of Trichodermina - a powder based on trichoderma.

mrJar My Purple Punch has recovered after losing its central cola and is now actively growing leaves. I'm removing some of the fan leaves that are blocking the lower branches from light. Trichoderma has started its work, and white spots—fungal colonies—are appearing on the pot. The smell has slightly intensified, so I had to connect the carbon filter. Today or tomorrow, I plan to stretch the bush as much as possible to cover the entire area of the tent.

mrJar Hey everyone! The plant has grown a lot over the last week. It drinks 3 liters of water a day - I pour in 2 liters in the morning, and then add another liter around 6 PM. I do defoliation daily and remove 1-2 handfuls of leaves. Once a week, I consistently add MgSO4 - it's a budget alternative to CalMag from the garden store, decided not to spend on that this cycle. I plan to keep it at 16/8 for another 3-5 days, after which I'll switch to 12/12.

mrJar Due to a broken central branch, the vegetation has been a bit prolonged; I initially planned for 40 days of vegetation. The bush is very dense, and I'm constantly having to remove leaves and unpromising lower branches. The plant is eating well; if the PPM rises above 1100-1200, I water with pure water for 1-2 days. I almost forgot the most important part - I switched Purple Punch to 12/12, and soon we'll be flowering and smelling. The little one started flowering very quickly: I switched to 12/12 on day 50, and it showed the first stigmas on day 55. There are very promising signs of a colorful phenotype.

mrJar I usually give 30 days of vegetation and switch to flowering 🌲. This time, the vegetation took 50 days (could have gone for 55, judging by the size of the box), not least due to unintentional topping. On day 50, I switched the plant to flowering and was surprised, as it started throwing out stigmas just 5 days after switching to 12/12. 💪 It seems I got really lucky with the phenotype 🎁, and it will be a distinctly Purple, which is already visible in the photos. That's cool, because I've heard from experienced growers that colorful Purple Punch is rare. Might as well make clones now... I do defoliation almost daily - I remove the fan leaves that block light from reaching the future buds. The plant isn't stressed, just in the last few days it started drinking less - but that's probably due to the drop in outdoor temperatures and the rain (humidity is high).

mrJar Hey everyone! It’s become clear that I got lucky with the phenotype and this plant is going to be purple. Although, the yield is probably not going to be very high. 😬 Some of the fan leaves have developed rusty spots, plus there’s noticeable yellowing on the young leaves. I increased the frequency of adding MgSO4 and also gave magnesium sulfate as a foliar spray. The sulfate ran out, so I bought CalMag Xtra and added it to the diet starting from day 66; I think it’s not too late to fix the deficiency. The drainage pH is surprisingly stable and low; usually during the vegetative stage, the pH rises to 7+, then drops to 6 closer to mid-flowering. This time, the acidity is holding in the range of 6-6.5. Maybe the deficiency symptoms are related to this. I’m not sure how it’s usually done here for measuring plant height - from the pot, or including its height. If measuring from the floor, the plant is currently 48 cm tall. The smell is weak during the day, but intensifies at night; I’m currently turning off the exhaust fan at night, but I’ll turn it on in 24/7 mode in a week.

mrJar There seems to be a deficiency, presumably potassium - some leaves are yellowing at the edges. I've decided not to water with plain water for now - just a nutrient solution until the drainage PPM reaches 1200-1300. This week, I experimented with automatic watering using a submersible pump and a Sonoff Basic WiFi relay. It turned out to be very convenient, except for the pump - you always need to leave a bit of water so the pump doesn't burn out. In the future, I'll replace the submersible pump with an external one. Other than a slight hunger, everything is fine; the plant is flowering at full power.

mrJar I fixed the deficiency I mentioned last week. The method is simple - I watered with a nutrient compost daily, without watering with plain water. The result - no new yellowing on the leaves is visible, the old spots have stopped progressing, and the leaves have taken on a richer color. I'm feeding with the full dosage according to the manufacturer's chart. I raised the drainage PPM from 900 to 1300+ in just a few days, and I'll try to maintain this level until harvest. The smell isn't strong yet, but sweet notes are already noticeable. The leaves are covered in trichomes; this strain shouldn't be this trichome-heavy) But I'm not complaining, it looks very beautiful.

mrJar The bush is covered in flowers and trichomes, it looks beautiful. Although the size of the bush itself isn't record-breaking, there's still plenty of space around the perimeter of the box. This happened because the stigmas started showing on the 5th day in 12/12 mode, which is earlier than usual, and the bush didn't have time to fill the entire tent area. The buds are gradually gaining mass, I hope they'll be as dense and big as in the photo from Barney's Farm 😋 All the most interesting stuff will start in a week 😎

mrJar According to the passport, my girl has another 10-20 days to flower. By appearance - even more. I don't see a single darkened stigma, which means the flowering is in full swing. The tops have developed a bit of "fox tailing," which isn't very pleasant for the appearance, but it won't affect the quality at all. I'll keep watching. Interestingly, fox tails usually appear from high temperatures, but there haven't been any such conditions - the temperature has been in the range of 23-26°C. Maybe the light is hanging too low, or it's just the genetics... The smell is getting stronger; I can catch hints of pine, wood, and sweet notes in the background. A pleasant familiar scent of my favorite plant 😋 I also want to note the large number of leaves on the plant, despite almost daily defoliation. There will be plenty to manicure after the harvest 😀

mrJar Purple Punch surprises with its unwillingness to finish flowering. As of this report update on 11/10/21, the plant has been flowering for 48 days. All the stigmas are white, and Purple Punch doesn't seem to be ready to finish its cycle yet, even though it should flower for 50-60 days according to the passport. I can somewhat see the finish line and can say that the Punch strain is hardly a high-yielding one, at least my phenotype. The tops have started to go a bit "foxtail," and the buds at the bottom are small. I predict a maximum of 150-200 g of dry buds. The smell has intensified; even if I open the box for a short time, the scent spreads throughout the apartment. I found mold on one cola. I cut the top off about 2-3 cm below the affected area. Since my stash has run low, I'm gradually cleaning up and smoking the lower buds of Purple Punch. I hope cleaning up the lowers will also improve air circulation and prevent the mold from progressing. Nevertheless, the strain is quite good, the effect is sedative and powerful, I like it - I think Purple Punch is perfect for evening movie watching or listening to music.

Happy Harvest Day!

mrJar Had to harvest Purple Punch on day 52 of flowering (106 days total), even though the trichomes were still milky, some even clear. I could have kept it in plain water for a few more days. The reason for the early harvest is cruel and merciless - gray mold. In my previous apartment, under much worse conditions, I completed 8 cycles without a single spot of mold. In my current place, the box is next to the north wall, which constantly develops mold, and there's nothing I can do about it without insulating the wall. Since I'm renting, it seems mold will accompany every growing cycle while I'm here 😬 The next strain will be OMG from Ripper Seeds; let's see if it can withstand the mold and be just as effective as Punch. Because Purple Punch is something else, I love its knockout effect 😋

@Ferenc, thanks for the comment, bro. Instead of Purple Punch, I was supposed to be growing Runtz Muffin right now, but I soaked the seed in water and it went to cannabis heaven. But Punch with 2% CBD is also interesting, let's see what comes out.

Congratulations, Bro, on the harvest!!! Awesome result despite everything! 👍🏻 I think in the cycles with the Haze closer to summer there won't be any mold, try using silica gel in the box to reduce humidity and increase airflow! Good luck with the OMG - great choice!
mrJar
mrJar commented5y ago
@Rasta_Faraev, Thanks bro! I'm not sure that silica gel will help - the air in the tent is constantly being refreshed, but it's worth a try. I googled and found a desiccant powder that contains copper sulfate and calcium sulfate; we can give it a shot, it's inexpensive and seems safe. This has happened in this apartment both in the summer and spring 😕 We definitely need to change something.
