Good Morning and welcome to Week 6! Day 39: Fed last night with quarter strengths Trio...they seem to all be happy with that. pH was adjusted to 6.5 and the solution PPM was reasonably in the 600's. This morning showed no ill-effects minus the Tangerween Dream being a little bit droopy from the water. All plants are in flower now and the NL added some height, topping out the others at a mere 10.5" I know they're all small, but they seem to have decent bud sights and overall are pretty happy. Day 40: Watered 3 out of 4 with unsoftened well water. Things are moving along. It's still hot and humid here, but the room is staying around 60% RH and Temps ranging from 82 in the day to 79 at night. Day 41: Watered Tangerweenie...and I hadn't really figured out why it's sort of weird looking until today. All leaves have 3 lobes instead of 5. It also apparently naturally looks like it's droopy. At this point it's not overwatered and no matter if it goes dry or gets water on schedule has the same compact look. Otherwise appears to be healthy. Water had small amount (1/4 tsp per gallon) of C/M added and pH'ed to 6.5. PPM is remaining about 390 or so once all adjusting has been done. Everyone else is pulling their weight, even the sickly NL has returned to normal and is bright green, budding and starting to stretch. Day 42: The better of the NL is in full stretch mode, adding an inch or more per day. The Blu'brie isn't far behind and Tangerween has pretty much stayed right where she is. The lesser NL hasn't gotten to stretch, but is looking decent again, though small. Now we seem to be doing an every other day watering schedule finally. RIght now doing somewhere around .85 liter a day, but only getting minimal run-off. I'll step up to a liter per plant moving forward and keep in that direction until 10-20% run off. Rotating plants daily to give light to all sides, and adjusted the wifi therm/humid. sensor to now hang...which should continue to give accurate measurements since perched on the pot-tops is no longer all that relevant to what's happening at the canopy level. Unsoftened well water with .25 tsp of Cal/Mag, pH'ed to 6.52 running at roughly 370ppm once adjusted. Doing a feed-water-water schedule, which amounts to one feed a week really. Things have cooled into the mid-70's outside but still humidity at 70%. In the tent we're running 82/83f and 55-60%. Raised the light a few inches to keep the tops of the plants in the mid 50's DLI and in the 800-1000PPFD range. Day 43: Wow...The NL is stretching aggressively. From 12 up to 15 inches in a day. Also the plants are soaking up more water. Yesterday I gave 'em all water/Cal/Mag to the rate of .75l each. Today the soil is again dry with only one of the plant having any moisture about 1.5-2" down. After posting my question about the Blu'brie having some mild yellowing in the leaves mid-plant and being confirmed by a few that they're in need of more nutrient support, I took a published Auto GH Trio schedule and translated it into ml per gallon rather than ml per liter for use, and moved over to that schedule. with 1l per plant today. Also going to bump up to an every-other watering feeding schedule. Day 44: Northern Lights has put on another few inches overnight...now looks more like 16.5" Adjusted the lights a bit, rotate the plants so they could continue to get even light all around. Got home from the office, took off my coat & tie and sidled down to the tent. All 4 pots were dry enough to water. Decided to give them the 'week 7' feed regime, higher on the Bloom and lower on the Micro; the PPM was still only in the 500 range so I upped the Bloom & Grow by a few drops more each. Still residing in the ~530ppm range. Also was more aggressive in the amount of feed, each plant getting 1.75l or so. Did get a litter (very little) run off, and my PPM on runoff (soil; Black Gold Organic) is higher than I'd like (around 1500ppm) which is probably accounted for by both the organic nature of the soil as well as the fact that I haven't really been watering or feeding to runoff. My plan is to take the next watering (probably Day 46 or 47) and really give them all a solid flush with plain pH'ed water. Like drop a few gallons through the mix of each of them. Day 45: Things have cooled and dried outside...so lower 70s' during the day and was in the mid 60's last night. That means the grow room is remaining in the mid 50% range for humidity during the day and around 79f. And at night it's dropping a degree or two and the humidity is peaking just over 60%. Looking to soon stop using my janky older seed-and-start LEDs that I had on hand for germinating vegetables and plants. Right now if you look I have my HLG 225 in center and I'm flying a 32W fixture to either side, then using a couple 19W fixtures up close and sideways to create a "faraday cage" of light around the plants. I like the HLG and feel like they're a decent company and are safe (rather than some of the import knock offs I see). Thinking a pair of HLG 100W rspec on either side of the 225 would be great. When the plants are small, just use the HLG and dim it and as we get to late veg and flowering fire up the 100's to fill the sides. My tent is a funky shaped 60" wide by 32" deep by 80" tall. or 5' x 2.67' by 6.66' So I really have about a foot or so on either side that could get more light.

Are these on track or slow/low? 1st time grow, 3 auto varieties. Today is the 14th day since seeds hit the soil. They look healthy, but they're all only 1.5" to 2" tall. Do I need to raise my lights? They're currently @ 14" above the leaves with 1x225wLED & 2x 32wLED.

They may be a bit over watered. Can't really comment on light hight ad unformiliar with it. With my lights it's about 18 inch above in veg, also your going need to pot up to your final container.

Brown spots on my Auto Blueberry...What's causing this? They weren't there yesterday. Haven't moved my lights. Fed (GH Trio,CALiMAGic) Tuesday, watered today (Fri). pH runoff = 6.5 Temp@77f, Hum=58% None of my others (NL & Tan.Dream auto) have it.

Anyone have a quick and easy rule/suggestion for PPFD & lux for plants in Seedling, Vegetative & Flowering states? Lots of divergent answers online. At plant top right now I'm currently at ~1000PPFD and the lux readings are 49,000-51,000. What are 'best practices' for this?

Lowest numbers to hit: Seedlings: 200-300 ΞΌMols Vegetative: 306 ΞΌMols Flowering: 463 ΞΌMols If you want to increase the amount of light from 20 to 40 moles per day, resulting in higher yields, you simply need to double the numbers above, but not the Seedling stage – 308 PPFD to 616 PPFD during the vegetative phase, and 463 PPFD to 925 PPFD during the flowering phase. Seedlings: 200-300 ΞΌMols Vegetative: 617 ΞΌMols Flowering: 925 ΞΌMols Best of luck and happy growing my friend.

My auto blueberry just started showing some yellowing mid-plant. It's first/second week of flower. Thoughts on what she needs? None of the others have it (Tangerine Dream & Northern Lights). Doesn't show signs of overwater. More deets below.

This Northern Lights auto is being vexatious...I can't get rid of the yellowing towards the bottom. Not overwatered, I've tried beefing up the nutrients, etc. with no effect. Any thoughts or do I just writing off as she's just being a jerk? Other plants in this grow are fine.

OK dli is good, 60 is max.. but, if the dli is given to intense (to close light) the leaf turn upwards like yours, so you might back light a little. 4-7 cm? problem with ppm is that is no standard definition of it. sometimes 700ppm =1 ec. sometimes 500ppm =1 ec?? its just a mess. it depends on your reader. So anyway, i dont know how much 500-800 ppm is. You should however be between 1.2 - 2 EC for soil flowering. make sure you measure the run-off water.. if its a lot less then what you feed them, they need more nuets. (EC target need sometimes even go up to 2.2-2,6 ec ... if strain demands, typical indica to need much and sativa little.. or if you are doing hydro/coco that also needs more EC.) Anyway about your nuets,, i read only 1/2 strength nutrient and that's not good. I too use GHE tripart, their seedling feed where spot on EC-target. (with my water). I think GHE have good ec targets in mind when design feedchart, but of course your water quality also plays a part.. but i would just go full strength mate. atleast for 2-3 watering and see what happens

Just chopped my first 4 plants, all auto. Did 2x Northern Lights, 1 Blueberry, 1 Tangerine Dream. I have enough seeds for a few more rounds. But I should probably pick one type & do 4. Help me pick! BB are fussy, TD are more Sativa, NL are classic. Thoughts?

@BeautifulCraftRreddit Leaning towards the NL's too, given they did pretty well no matter how badly I butchered them...and also I just have more of those seeds. I have 8 on hand still. Though soonish I'd like to move over from autos to photoperiod so I can have more control over things and try my hand at more training techniques.

@ BeautifulCraftRreddit; Yeah, the Blueberry was more prone to conditional problems, sensitive to nutrient burn, etc. And it was also the first to hit flower-fade at the end of its time. It helped convince me that it wasn't the best to run 3 different strains at the same time. At the same point, if I'm running 4 of the same thing, it's easier to tailor the feed to that one strain, and dial that in, I think. On the other hand, I have 8 NL seeds (I originally bought 10 NL, and 5's of the others). And those plants just GREW the best. Once I got used to them, they did well and even with all my abuse they were very forgiving. The Tangerine Dream is the one strain that's heavier on the Sativa...but the one I grew was really dense and tight and was a mutant that only ever developed 3-lobe leaves that always pointed downwards. So this round I ended with a bunch of reasonable indica heavy stuff and less sativa, so there's some draw to balancing it out. I'm going to move to Pro-Mix and stay with all my other common elements but get some good myco for next run. I'm also going to start out in .75g pots instead of cups.

@LeastExpectedGrower LYeah I did the same thing as you, tested out a gelato, sour diesel and purple lemonade all at the same time and mid grow was thinking how I should have done just one. I went dry amendments so I didn't have to really worry about feeding just watering but the sour diesel just wasn't letting up on how much cal mag she wanted

@Grower2021253, Surprisingly cheap. I have mine updating every 30 minutes (while I'm away at work I can see how things are unfolding). I recently adjusted it to reflect what the meter on my AC Infinity controller says, since I'm guessing that is fairly accurate. I also have some smart plugs that I can trigger extra fans, etc. when I'm away from the house. Right now no matter what it looks brutal since the exterior temps are 85-90f during the day and 75-85% humidity. My dehumidifiers can mostly keep up but it's keeping grow tent conditions a little warmer than ideal!

Those swings you mentioned are why we only run a veg tent down there..humidity is rough in the summer but perfect all winter, we typically pick tropical/heat resistant strains for the summer indoors and heavy indica outside (or inside during the winter) our GDP run was a fluke, Grower's Choice decided to send us all autoflowers (..again πŸ™„) and of all the GDP seeds we got 1 photoperiod, so we took 6-7 clones, vegged them and flowered them with mom indoors... that GDP took the heat better than my Kush lol, I still can't explain that lol
LeastExpectedGrower
LeastExpectedGrower
@Kitties_and_Colas, that's at least a cool work-around and a nice way to think around corners. I do all basement (we don't have an attic), but the basement is the most consistent zone for us across a season, where our living space is all over the place depending on the day's weather. Also, we're prone to house guests and gatherings. Once we really hit fall, the humidity will naturally drop at basement level into the 20-40% range for Fall/Winter/Spring and the room with the tent will remain in the 65-75 range, so summer is the real challenge. This first growing experience has been a challenge in a lot of ways, but also has been a great learning/researching experience, so I'm not at all sorry that it's been tough. Luckily I don't have my hopes pinned on a big harvest for it. In reality, most of what we do will go towards edible projects anyway.
